This just popped up in my suggestions and I’m a New Subscriber because of it. My Senior Year of High School (1987) my Dad built a V8 Bug and I’m going to tell you right now…. Don’t let them naysayers distract you from your vision. Back then you made do with what you had and could find.
Dude this thing is truly awesome, I've been wondering when someone would do this shit with the haters think I myself think it's cool .oh make sure you get some wheelie bars .
It's a super great project. This will result in old VW owners looking at their Beetles in a new light and with new ideas. After all, it's a humble little car turning into a Super Car 🚗.
I love the car. You're doing an excellent job and I believe it's a great idea cause the beetle bug gets left out of the equation when it comes down to a hot rod. Hope everything goes the way you believe it will. Keep your dream going forward brother.
LOVE THE RFC STICKER. ..! I HAVE A RACERS FOR CHRIST LICENSE PLATE..! I WATCHED A GUY FROM CANADA WIN A PRO STREET SHOOTOUT WITH A 454 CHEVROLET POWERED BUG…❤
Took my driving test in a 65-66 VW back in 70s. Belonged to my brother. I'd like to see this from time to time as you progress. So far looks awesome. Thanks for the tour. And good luck with the rest
Welcome am a VW mechanic too & a mechanical engineer i can see your modification fantastic how are u gonna cope with it's front suspension & steering rack that will accommodate d size of V8 engine have seen it's back axile, it's pretty fantastic
Very impressed with your "BUG" I'm a Rat Rider from way back! Really appreciate you leaving this link. When the 1 pic was posted to my group on FB I was full of questions. Your video here pretty well answered them. My only experience with VW till now was doodlebugs for mud and trikes (my 1st being just chopping off the rear body and all and welding on a channel frame with HD wideglide) using the back of body including rear seat as a C-cab made it very wheelie-prone! I'm currently working on a CheVW. Pickup (cab is '67 VW Square back wagon powered by 6cyl Chevy Citation engine and fwd trans and drive under bed). Another guy started it so I won't take credit for the idea. Main problem I'm currently having is getting proper cooling. Then just about ready to finish oak tilt-bed. I'll be posting pics when I figure out how. I've only been teaching myself to use my 1st smartphone for a few months! I'M A KICKSTART MAN IN AN ELECTRICSTART WORLD!!!!
Man I Love that bug! I saw one once running around my town back in the 70s. Ever since then I've dreamed about building one. That or a windowless VW van with a big block behind the driver. Don't even worry about what some people say that you ruined it. I'm sure people say that about my 55 Chevy gasser. Great video. 👍
Thought about building one but maybe moving the engine back into a slightly recess firewall but still have a good drive shaft length or extending the body at the cowl a couple of inches to get the desired effect. Can’t wait to see it finished ! Keep on building!!
Nice build love the bug with the V8 & S10 frame. Perfect build the way you want it don't listen to the arm chair commentaries it's perfect. Really it's coming out nice love the work.
I really like the car and the work that's gone into it don't worry about anybody leaving bad comments because they don't realize how much time and labor goes into each piece of a bill like this I'm currently building a bug with a V8 and probably have a couple thousand hours in it and it doesn't look like much it's hard to see until you have a finished product the amount of Labor and love that goes into it
Back in the 1970'S there was a body kit for the Beatle that made the Beatles simulate the look of a Roles Royce. The hood had a big grill and it would be tall enough for the LS engine intake. And the tail trunk lid was squared off and would be great to modify for a gas tank. Too bad you couldn't find a trunk and hood from that kit car for the Beatle.
Man that is so cool. Where can I get one. A friend of mine had one yrs ago didn’t keep it long I loved that thing. C n urs reminded me of that an I have always wanted one. Love it. Keep it going Man that’s cool.
I'm impressed good job that's going to be a fun car to drive are you painting or leaving it like it is myself I would paint it either way it's cool thanks for sharing
I want to make sure I have the motor set up so I can fit the radiator in the front. How exactly did you make clearance? I am doing an s10 frame and I think you did also?
Hey is Grandpa Herbie I love bug scene! I think the car is neat. Let me be a hater for a minute what are you doing ruining a Volkswagen bug from 1961? Well it wasn't that long ago there's nothing you could do to ruin these cars they weren't that sought after. With that being said. My kid has a 74 or so bug my bone stock as you can get them. We found a couple of old bugs and thinking about doing the same thing that you're doing with a couple of different tweaks. I'll share them with somebody else once it's still my idea all more the merrier. Anyway I've thought about putting a Toyota engine and making a front wheel drive bug. Or just put a small GM V6 because I have more than enough horsepower to make that thing fly. I'm not looking to drag it down the quarter mile either. I've seen a number of these V8 conversions. But it's been about 2 years since I saw one in person but back in the day guys used to tie them on with bailing wire. I've subscribed to your channel to see where you go with this. Honestly it may be as close as I ever get to building anything along this line. It's either called far out Auto Salvage or way out Auto Salvage it's in Arkansas it's near Alpena. No joke. He is 500 old bugs laying around well organized a couple of hundred Volkswagen Vans everything from the air-cooled era. It's in northwestern Arkansas. There's another one Northeast Arkansas. There's one in Columbia Missouri there's one in south of Jefferson City Missouri. There's a number of other ones. But the one in Arkansas Way out Auto Salvage the best bug salvage place I found. If you go out there make sure it's during the dry season because it is way out! After you run out of gravel road and dirt road you drive a little farther and then you pick up another gravel road but he does ship. I don't know what bug parts you may or may not be interested in. He has two VW things as well. Interesting build you have and I think it looks great just leave it like it is as far as the body. I myself would want more comfortable seats but if you're only going to quarter mile at a time it doesn't matter. Thanks for sharing and taking the time to make the video
Nice build! I’m currently doing the same type of build with my 73 bug. I don’t have a frame yet but I have a few questions. Is that stock suspension height for the s10? I’m wondering because I want my motor to be hidden under the hood. I’m wondering if I mount the body higher on the frame to drop the motor bellow the hood and then slam it down with a 3” or 5” suspension drop. Also, do the frame rails fall right inside the heater channels of the vw or was there modifications done there as well?
I have 2 1/2" drop spindles, up front. I also have ICT Billet adjustable motor mounts which moved the engine back around 4". With the heater channels, I didn't have to modify those at all.
I currently have a 96 s10 and a 64 beetle, you didnt have to do any mods to the width of the front of the s10? Just looking at it ,seems like it's a bit wider than the beetle?
Great build! It will be a head-turner for sure when it's finished! I have a 1995 Kia Sportage "Slowest Vehicle On The Road"... hahaha. We built it for the street strip with a 454 Small Block Chevy, 871 blower, 2 kits of nitrous, power glide, 9-inch ford rear with strange axles, yadda yadda yadda. We had it on Pinks All Out in Montgomery Alabama twice back in the day. It's a sleeper and a lot of fun. Everyone asks why in the world did you build an ugly Kia Sportage. I always say that when you get outrun by the slowest vehicle on the road you will never forget it. Here is a run at the strip... ruclips.net/video/veFEncWubbU/видео.html
That’s a beautiful build dude a real work of art …..big respect 👍
Just rewatched...Thumbs up...Subscribed... Looking forward to following...Thanks again...

VW my first car, I LOVE What you have done so far. I'will be following to see what you do to finish it. Not a piece of shit at all. GOOD WORK!
Nice Build ...
Perfectly Sketchy fast !
❤️
I think it’s pretty amazing you found a way to support the weight of that big engine on the front of this car…awesome job..cool car..
It's a super great project.
This will result in old VW owners looking at their Beetles in a new light and with new ideas.
After all, it's a humble little car turning into a Super Car 🚗.
This should be awesome. Can't wait to see the finished product. Good luck to ya.!
That thing is utterly bad ass! Don't let up! Wanta see it run...
Truly an impressive build! 😊
BEAUTIFUL JUST THE WAY IT'S..!!
I love the car. You're doing an excellent job and I believe it's a great idea cause the beetle bug gets left out of the equation when it comes down to a hot rod. Hope everything goes the way you believe it will. Keep your dream going forward brother.
Great project dude!!! I would like to see the final result....... Good luck with it. You have an awesome vision for your mechanical aptitude......

I'm 62 now but I have been waiting to build one like that for 30 years now, I'm working on finding one!

Feel free to!

*yes, I agree with the placement of the engine in the front and it is very correct 👌*

Dude...that's badass..take it easy...those setups have nasty tendencies except when playin nice...😜
Very cool can't wait to see it finished.
The Bug is looking really cool!👍
Thats nice to see in Michigan, theres a nice one in West Branch, he had it at in Standish where i seen it at a car show

I see the vision, perhaps the shell may be an issue for some but I really like it. Nice job👍👍
Cool beetle! Looking forward to following your build!!!

I like it!!! Wish I had one myself. Like the progress so far

Bad A$$ bro it's going to be a sleeper
Just came across this.
Keep in mind haters are obsessed fans.
Do yourself f*** what they are looking at.
How much fun is that thing
What color are you going to paint the car? But as far as looking at the car to me it’s beautiful I painted mine. The new army green 🛠️
I'm actually leaving it the nasty patina. I used Poppyspatina
A+ Job 👍👽
cool
Very cool build. Any updates?
This spring I will post some
Awesome build. Wondering if I could pick your brain on mounting the motor so you have room for the radiator?
What is your question?
I want to make sure I have the motor set up so I can fit the radiator in the front. How exactly did you make clearance? I am doing an s10 frame and I think you did also?
@@Discdogginaddict ... correct, I also used a S10 frame. I used ICT Billet adjustable motor mounts that moved the engine back 3 1/2" back.
Wow
That is awesome. I’m doing the same thing with a Volvo PV 544. Question are you using a rack and pinion? If so where did you get a narrow R&P?
I have original S10 suspension up front, but I want to upgrade to a TRZ
