Big thanks for the video, almost trashed the old fob case with the transponder still in it. 9 years later this video still saves people from a simple mistake like this. Thanks!
OMG! I have just retrieved the transponder from the bin when I threw out the old shell. I had no idea the old shell contained the transponder because it was the same colour as the shell and did not look like a removable component. Thank you for a brilliant video.
Thank you for this, I'd bought a new casing from ebay for about 2.50 as the buttons had crumbled away. Got my uncle to do all the fiddly stuff. Tried to start the car, it wouldn't start. Just kept turning the engine over. Bizarrely, my other key (which didn't even have a battery in it) would turn the car on! After reading some forums online I found out about the transponder. Came across this video showing what it looked like and how to remove it. Told my uncle to get the old casing out of his bin. Sure enough, the transponder was in it. Showed him this video and sorted moving transponder into new casing. Very useful video in my case!
+Eric Harper Bummer. (not you, the situation). Guess I was lucky that I did mine at the weekend (no bin collections) and worked out the problem in time. I feel your pain though mate, I'd be up a certain creek without a certain implement if I hadn't got it sorted. Assume you only had the one key?
andylornastuff No, I got another key without the inside stuff and that works fine but on checking the bin the last bag was put in after the collection (so the first one in for the next collection) and when I emptied it out there it was, it was like finding treasure, got the little piece out of it and it worked like a charm, thanks for asking
I just bought my wife a 206 and the fob buttens where knackerd. Thanks for the video, i would have binned the transponder if i had not seen this. And it only took 5 minutes to repair . THANK YOU.
Changed covers to new ones car wouldn't start !! Neighbors thought could be immobilizer then saw you!! Didnt not see that small oblong shape chip in the corner !! Would not have known !! Cheers !!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Good job I didn’t throw my old one away when I changed it, saved me a lot of money. My mechanic knew what I’d done straight away and didn’t charge me for anything.
i didn't see the transponder when i changed my key case, car didn't want to start. it was driving me crazy, then i found this video and slapped my forehead :) thanks!
Me too. Main dealer quoted me minimum of £50 just for part. Then there was fitting and re-programming on top. I'm practically inept but managed this after getting part off Ebay for less than £2. Felt well pleased with myself when I got it sorted.
You saved me 100€. I changed the cover but i didn't know anything about the transpoder. I threw the old cover to the trash. Thank God the garbage truck didn't come because it's weekend. I ran out after watching this video, found my litter bag and took the old cover. I took the transpoder and bingo, the car starts again!
Thank you so much for posting this video. You saved my money....I changed my keys but car was not getting start!! Then you said to change the transponder!! Which was on my old key....I changed and great! Car started on the spot. Thanks again. May God bless you.
Thanks for the video just swapped my car key over due to getting a 206 cheap. Move all electrics and blade couldn't get it started. Turns out hadn't moved the transponder so the video really helped. Car now purring and coughing like an old deisel should lol thanks
Regarding to transponder-never try to pry it..it can crack very easy. You better push away plastic walls that sorround the transponder with screwdriver and damage them instead of transponder itself.
thankyou so much changed the fob and missed the transponder luckily watched your vid for the eureka moment the relief when car started was of the chart
Not surprised so many people (including me, but got it back) threw away the part of the old key with the transponder in when they changed the casing, it's very inconspicuous. It's almost as if they want you to lose it so that paying through the nose to get it sorted is your only option...
watched this for how to rematch remote to car after changing battery, thanks to Andrew Cullens 30sec warning I know I don't have to worry about that. didn't consider you could replace the broken buttons though. Will do that as mine are broken and currently wrapped in electrical tape. :) Thank you
Great little vid but may I say that if you're only replacing for worn buttons as I just have then you only need to unscrew the case & replace the old worn out half with the new one, just a simple swap & no need to prize out the transponder.
hey Paul, the transponder in my fob was on the side with the buttons. I missed it when I replaced the buttons!! lucky I searched this vid because the car wouldn't start! 106 2001.tried reprogramming the key but it still won't open the doors on the fob.
Battery's gone flat in my key fob - Peugeot 206cc, 2002. Can't get the key housing to split apart. My son tried using a 1p piece. Will try a 10p and see if that helps. Thank you for the clear instructions.
Hi mate I ordered a new key fob and circuit board as mine had a pad lifted on one of the buttons. Anyway I've put the the chip in with transponder but nothing please help.
Hi, thanks for this video, have just ordered some key parts.... One of the micro switches has completely broken off my key, so cannot open the car boot at the moment. Does anybody know where the release button for the boot is whilst I wait for the spare key parts to come? Or any other solutions to opening the boot? Thanks in advance.
hi there, thank you for video. do you know the name and type of the electrical board inside the key? mine got wet and I need the whole set: case and inside bits... don't know which one and where to get the inside bit, if you know please let me know ;) tks
Anyone doing this job, look carefully at the new battery, there may be a plastic sticker on the negative side that gives a warning about 'Harmful if swallowed'. you will need to peel it off first to let the battery make good contact with the circuitry.
OMG. I cant watch this... Do not use coin to open it. Use some plastic piece of an old credit card or flat screwdriver. And the immobiliser chip is placed loosely and there is a special notch / cut on the shorter egde of the little case for removing it. And why you have not cleaned the original screw before reusing??
i have a 2005 cc 206 peugeot 1.6 16v it been stood i have just gone to start it and its displays economy mode active an it wont start turns over but will not fire any ideas ...?
Surely, if the PCB gets changed, or battery removed the key needs to be re-synchronised to the vehicle? I mention this as I've just bought a 206 and I think the key has had the PCB renwed and the central locking doesn't see the signal. It works mechanically with the key but not on the button.
totaltwit were u able to fix the locking as my car does the same but reprogramming doesn't work for me and for some reason it doesn't work for either keys despite only replacing the battery in one key
No progress as of yet. I'm in the process of getting that Peugeot Planet software (Lexia) thing setup as I'm told the car's computer needs re-programming to accepet the keyfob.
totaltwit the annoying this is that I'm not so bothered about remote locking but the alarm goes off each time I manually unlock the car so If the alarm didn't always go off with the key it would be fine :/ What even causes the problem anyway ?
if you change the key battery, you need to replace it as quickly as possible (a second or two) but nowhere does it tell you that. A warning on the key would be helpful. Otherwise the whole thing needs setting up again (as I've just found out. It's cost me nearly £400).
How on earth do people get their fobs get like this in the first place? Do they have a vice like grip or do they use their nails to press the buttons? I personally use a delicate touch, just enough pressure and no more. In my experience find that many people seem very good at abusing and breaking things.
One of the buttons just fell out without me noticing it when it happened. There was all of a sudden just a gaping hole where the round open button one was! No abuse.
Good Vid, Only thing I will say is Unpack the new battery before you start, If you take more than 30 seconds to remove and replace the battery, You will have to Rematch Remote to Car? Not a hard job but why do it if you don't have to, Also why did you not just use the new buttons on the old key? No changing of Blade or Transponder then required?
Very informative! I just changed the battery in mine as the remote still doesn't work - does it need resetting or could it be the receiver that's faulty
Cheers Stefan - very helpful! there used to be a kid in our road in Westminster Park, Chester called "Stephen" Pif, is that you? have you changed your first name? -
For two days three different mechanics did not find out why the car was not starting until a friend told me that issue was with the key and not in the engine. Yep, transponder issue :-D 3 fucking mechanics ahahah oh dear!
Hi,both my keys won't remotely unlock or lock the car I have to do it using the button on the dashboard I've changed the batteries but still no joy, any ideas?
amazing could we find of these spare key of 307 peugeot in indonesia, bandung west java, my spare is lost last year. any body could help me on these ? thanks before
go ebay Peugeot key fob you should find full kit for changing for around £ 5.00 but remember you need the transponder (this is the part that speaks to the car when you are within a set distance) and inside panel good luck
Hello if i did this and the car will not start!? Then the imobilizer is not working? How do i pair the key fob to the car? The doors work.. But they will anyway. I guess its the imobilizer since there where no problem before we fixed the key, like you here. And when i crank it it will not ignite. But just when i stop cranking it ignite just a little almost not at all. That makes me sure the imbolizer is not working on the key fob. And i have only that key! Typical! Is this the way?:ruclips.net/video/nCM0jDdA93Q/видео.html ore not? Somebody please help. It's my grandmoms car she is almost 90. So she need the car.

Changed covers to new ones car wouldn't start !! Neighbors thought could be immobilizer then saw you!! Didnt not see that small oblong shape chip in the corner !! Would not have known !! Cheers !!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Thank you so much. I was stumped wondering why my car wouldnt start. Hadnt put the transponder in. Youve saved the day.
Great video. I missed the transponder - luckily I kept the old key and found it. Your video saved the situation! Thank you very much!
i didn't see the transponder when i changed my key case, car didn't want to start. it was driving me crazy, then i found this video and slapped my forehead :) thanks!
did the same, right laugh scrabbling through waste bin to retrieve it ! lol

Super explanation how to renew the key case and battery. I found it very informative and useful. Thumbs up!

Many thanks, great job! I must confess that I would probably have missed the transponder!
Loved how you show and explain everything so very clear- Thank you!
Regarding to transponder-never try to pry it..it can crack very easy. You better push away plastic walls that sorround the transponder with screwdriver and damage them instead of transponder itself.
Thank you! This just worked well for me. Needed a dob of WD40 to loosen the old screw but all good. Thank you.
thankyou so much changed the fob and missed the transponder luckily watched your vid for the eureka moment the relief when car started was of the chart

wow.. I missed the transponder. just found old key in bin... you just saved me a few quid...
Thanks for showing me the transponder, I have had the keys laying on the shelf for months because i couldn't get the car running...

A big thank you left transponder in old case
Good job ! I missed the transponder because it’s invisible. 😅
Is it possible to put the new face on and keep the back casing with the key and transponder ?? Or would the two not fit together?
Thanks mate very helpfull, bless you.
Thanks, this actually helped me!
Thank you, working perfectly
Hi would a loose transponder stop the central locking from working please? Ours is loose and it doesn't want to fit anywhere
Witam. Czy w Citroen Xara II Cupe 1,4 kat. 2002 r. po odłączeniu akumulatora i podłączeniu nowego trzeba ustawiać komputer ?

Hi mate I ordered a new key fob and circuit board as mine had a pad lifted on one of the buttons. Anyway I've put the the chip in with transponder but nothing please help.
Seem like just about everyone forgets the transponder - I would have done too, but I had some advice from a mechanic before starting!

Wow what a fricking know-it-all... how long have you been a certified Peugeot engineer? Dick...
Please tell me what size of battery used in this peugeot 207 remote key?
i have a 2005 cc 206 peugeot 1.6 16v it been stood i have just gone to start it and its displays economy mode active an it wont start turns over but will not fire any ideas ...?

No you are not ready to use, it needs to be programmed
Try to use more "proffesional" tools next time, because on this movie, you just simply destroyed new cover using a coin for opening it.
fatalau... ai stricat o si pe aia noua 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
I don't think that's an OEM key
