You had a lot more time and access than I had on my Treffen visit in May 1986. The guide was always waiting impatiently for me follow along. I went back in 1987 and 2011 and cameras were verboten!
Compared to modern Porsche factories, I'd call this organized chaos. ;-) What can I say? My wife majored in exaggeration. Sadly, I think some of it rubbed off on me. :-D Great video!! Thanks.
I got to see the Taycan and 911 factory in 2023, unfortunately cameras were not allowed so I have to go off memory. The engine assembly line is actually nearly unchanged compared to here....just twice the number of engines on the line compared to 1986. The body assembly looks nothing like it does now.
THE 80s at PORSCHE were days of extreme quality and the cars were made to last and were very exclusive. Now every tome dick and harry seems to own one...it has lost its exclusivity like Mercedes has. SAD>
When the japanese arrived ant the facory, to help reorganising and updating the factory, they thought it was a dismantler place. Just seing the 911 drive between the benches and worker is a big throw back. I got to see the factory a couple of times, more updated. Now its a state of art, but , no glamour. Car is still number 1
Most amazing hand built car in the world !!!!PORSCHE NUMBER 0NE !!🇩🇪👍😎
Thank you for the time machine!🇩🇪👍🇺🇸
I took apart / removed the sunroof of my 1996 993 to fix the sagging liner. Found someone had written their initials on one corner of the metal.
Nice to see the 930 back at this 1986 Factory Vid. Amazing and thanks for posting this cool Vid
While I thank my personal God the hairstyles in that video are long gone, the styling of the 3.2 911 is timeless. I love my ‘86 coupe!
Was that my '87 Marine Blau Carrera at the end of the line?🙄
250k + mile daily driver THANK YOU to everyone on the floor in this film and the poster!
That's quality and enginering first class.
Wonderful seeing everything being built by hand, before kaisen and robotics.
Thankyou for this video

everyone needed a haircut back in those days
Actually it resembles Zuffenhausen today less the robots.
