thanks NGE30 - very helpful - my clutch pedal sank to the floor without any warning this morning, thank god it was still at home. ordered all the parts and will give it a shot doing it myself. Hope my RHD car ain't too different!
Thank you for providing the wealth of videos you produce, you are an excellent teacher and guide! This video was exceptional and helped me to complete the replacement of my master cylinder, slave cylinder, accelerator cable, throttle spring and the associated bushings. I am so thankful for your efforts, it really helped me gain the confidence and to follow the steps and plans to be successful! You are a true Baller! Many thanks Man!
Very good ! I wish you were here to do MINE! I have mechanics that are NOT "qualified" to work on my older 89 BMW 325I (440,800 miles) and yet they allegedly just replaced the master cylinder a few months ago and now the clutch pedal went to the floor and there was still oil leaking. I discussed this with a Mechanic friend out of the area and he also suspects the Slave Cylinder was NOT replaced OR the Master up top was not replaced and now the main mechanic wishes to replace just the "hose" which would have been replaced before. (Replacing a "hose" does Nothing to the worn "Slave or Master cylinder") I also suggest the Brake Booster is suspect as it is the original and "may' have brake fluid inside? Otherwise, why is the still oil on the floor mat nearest the Clutch? Your mat looks cleaner than mine. (I got my car "used" in 1995. I enjoyed watching your video as it was very informative. I normally do NOT "trust" mechanics unless I know them personally as alot of them seem to take advantage or make too many mistakes.
So I say few weeks ago that I'll change my clutch master cylinder with the slave cylinder so I did take me about 2 hour that was no but at all but I make a mistake I push the clutch before I installs my slave cylinder into the car so because I did I had to buy a new one to put on so now I driving my black widow to work and it nice to have back thank you for this video did help me a lot.
hello fellow E30 heads, trying to disconnect the hard line from the soft line but it feels like it is not budging. do you twist the soft line vs the hard line or the other way around?
At least it's not raining on you. I did one of these during a mild downpour. I have to admit that removing the front seat made it a lot more comfortable (and dry) to work on. : )
Just had this done today ...replace the clutch master....my clutch petal was falling to the floor and almost nothing there when I tried to drive it....was that your symptom.
This is a great video! Thanks for good explanation and showing the whole job. How long did it take you to do both the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder? Thanks again for great video!
Thanks! It is hard to say because I did this over the course of 2 days when I had spare time and recording everytihng makes every job twice as long. If I had to guess, probably around 4 hours without rushing it.
In my case it was easy to identify the slave cylinder as being the issue since I could clearly see the leak. Cylinders can be the cause of different symptoms and usually the first thing to check when you have issues with the pedal.
It is not a bad job to do assuming your lines aren't seized with rust. The hardest part is dealing with the master because of the uncomfortable position. It is probably a good idea to take out the driver seat to make it easier. Good luck!
I believe the salve cylinder is the same on the E21/E30. The master cylinder would be a different part. The process should be similar though. Good luck and thanks for watching!
@@NoGaragE30 Didn't expect such reply! so fast! I have actually replaced the master clutch following your guide and it went quite smooth, it even lined up with that little hole. But I was time savvy and didn't replace the slave cylinder (which I was going to). Guess what - 3 days later I get in to drive the car, press the clutch and its softer than anything.. Keep up the videos!

Should be the same process for the RHD I think.
@@NoGaragE30 you are CORRECT - it's probably easier with RHD because our throttle pedals linkage go straight thru the firewall! THANK YOU SO MUCH

Thanks for the kind words. Glad the videos helped you out! Makes the effort of making these videos well worth it.
Yup, just as I remember. Pain in the ass.
Probably the best video about this imo
That means a lot, thanks!
never thought of pumping it while its off the trans. good idea
Works like a charm!

1:00 Why is the line not in the bracket next to it?
The hard line was bent out of place at some point, before my ownership.

So i don’t understand you have to push down on the clutch when the slave is out or you do it after puting the slave

Definitely taking the seat out if I had to in there for anything else in the future.

Great Video!! I was wondering what are the size of those style 5's? Looking to go with those on my E24 635. Thanks. Rodd.
17x8.5 ET20
@NoGaragE30 Did you have to roll the fenders or do anything special to get the wheels to fit?
Great job explaining the details. I have a 87, 325I that needs the same TLC you did.
Have mine up on stands and getting ready to order the parts.
Thanks for the feedback! Good luck with the install.
Thanks so much for this video, detailed and all the steps
Nice job man. Love the e30
Hi I just did this but the pedal is still the same and I can’t bleed the system. Any idea what else could I do? Thank you
Great video! Quick question: is it going to be the same procedure on a 325 from 1987?
Should be the same based on my understanding.
Excellent guide, easy, logical and understandable, thank you!
Thanks! I appreciate the feedback.
Such a useful video, thank you!
That is what I like to hear. Thanks for watching!
wow nice cup holder, where did u buy that? Thanks
Those are cheap cup holders I bouht from a local discount auto parts store.
When u bled the slave cylinder did U have the cap of the brake booster open ? Well the reservoir cap open ?
I believe the resevoir cap was open during bleeding.
Hey man. I just did a 5 speed swap and installed my lines like you did here. My clutch still have no pressure. Any idea why?
Assuming the trans is good. You may have a bad master or slave cylinder. Check for brake fluid in reservoir and for any leaks. Bleed the system.
Good job bro
Mine next lol
Just lost my pedal
Thanks. Hope the video helps you and good luck with the repair.
Good job. Come to new York city. Need your help. Lol

how do you know when its your master or slave cylinders that are bad versus the clutch plate?
In my case it was easy to identify the slave cylinder as being the issue since I could clearly see the leak. Cylinders can be the cause of different symptoms and usually the first thing to check when you have issues with the pedal.

Where you buy Pipe?
What pipe?
Parts list for this vid??
See video decription for parts used
Looks like your fuel gauge could use some TLC.
Indeed, good catch. Have not looked into this much since I have a new cluster to install but it is annoying.

@@NoGaragE30 Its the earth on the back of the gauge which is intermittent. Another common e30 issue and a couple of RUclips videos done on it.
Could I maybe email you for some tips
