  • Had some fun flying around and filming the big pumpkin chucker at Anderson Farms on Halloween day. Flew behind it. Flew in front of it. Filmed it at 4K and at 1080p@120fps to get some nice slow motion footage. I couldn't really see very well where the cannon was aimed when I was in front of it, so was relying on strangers to keep me from being right in the path of the pumpkins.

    Very nice job :)
The slow motion with 120fps is just fantastic!

Does the gopro 4 come with a codec upgrade that lets 3rd-party applications modify clips larger than 1080?

No. That sounds like a limitation of the 3rd party apps, not GoPro's problem. I've never had a problem. I usually use AVIDemux to slice and dice the raw 4K and 1080p@120 files into smaller clips but I can also import them directly into Sony Vegas Pro 10 without any problems.

daemn42 Cool, thanks. What codec do you use for the AVIs then?

jsleuth11 Which AVIs? AVIDemux will read a raw GoPro .mp4 file, and then you just choose "copy" option for video and audio, and stuff it back into an MPEG4 container. In Vegas, I do render to AVI container using x264 codec, but there are lots of other choices for h.264 rendering. If you can find one that uses hardware acceleration in your video card, that's best.
