Rhys had a huge drinking problem and he just couldn’t get it under control. NBC got tired of having to pay him plus someone to keep him sober long enough to get in a days shooting.
Interesting that after learning from Mina that Jonathan and Lucy slept together, Dracula chose to immediately go and attack Lucy. Rather than, you know, that man who broke his vows to Mina.
Dracula went after Lucy as Lucy was Mina's best friend and Lucy went after Jonathan, knowing he was with Mina. I'm glad he went after her instead of Jonathan. She deserved it more.
I wish he would have asked Lucy why she slept with Harker. She already felt bad about the whole thing. She was manipulated by Lady Jane to do it. Poor Lucy.
Lucy was turned in the book, they needed an excuse that was not romantic, since clearly this Dracula was not into harems but was clearly very big on vengeance. Also, and I’m guessing here, but in the original movie Mina is the one who’s turned and Lucy hunts Dracula with Van Helsing and Harker trying to kill him before Mina completes her transformation. They were probably combining both plot lines to form one in which Lucy is turned but still hunts Dracula in an effort to protect her friend but also reverse her own transformation. It’s possible that she might also have become obsessed with both Dracula and Mina, driven by both rage and love. Just my humble guess though.
@@MissDLinx Thank you for that comment. I didn't realize that Mina was turned first in the original movie. I believe I saw a couple of other Dracula movies where Lucy was turned as well.
@@pollyannaprinciple5860 Lucy was turned in the original 1931 movie, and so was Mina, but she was saved when they hunted down and killed Dracula by Helsing and Harker. The Hammer film from 1958 changed things up, with John Harker being engaged to Lucy who was changed to Arthur Holmwood's sister, and Mina was Arthur's wife. Both Harker and Lucy were turned, and Mina was saved when Helsing and Holmwood hunted Dracula down. Then in 1979, their Dracula with Frank Langella had John Harker engage to Lucy, and Mina was changed to Helsing's daughter, and Mina had to be killed by Helsing when she was turned. Then Lucy was turned, and Harker and Helsing had to hunt him down, with Helsing dying in the process.
@@sebastianemond5313 I guess this is Lucy's destiny. Maybe it would kind of go against the grain for a new Dracula movie to change the storyline. I would do it. I'd probably allow Lucy to get turned and then find a way to have her turned back into a regular human. That might be boring, but dang I felt so bad for Lucy in this series. She really loved Mina. She just got the bad end of the deal.
Yeah, I really do feel like Lucy got shafted by this decision. Granted what she did was wrong, but she was misguided and hurt, and she felt guilty about it later. It really tore her apart to have not only played a part in tearing Mina and Harker apart, but to also lose both of them as friends, and you can see the pain in her eyes and just wanting to set things right. And then Dracula shows up and does this. 😔 By the way, if Dracula wanted to punish her, why turn her into a vampire in this scenario? Wouldn't that just create a potential new enemy and rival for himself later? I mean I know it's partly because he originally turned her in the book, but in this scenario, it just doesn't make sense. Just, why? 😂
Uh well, she was in shock...... I mean come on she's in the bathtub and he comes out of nowhere and savagely bites her then forces her to drink his blood whispering fiercely to her first that since she's being a monster he's going to turn her into one? ?She never knew what hit her- talk about a WTH moment!
Well, Lucy cheated with Jonathan to drive Mina and Jonathan apart because she too had feelings for Mina. She used the romance between Mina and Dracula to manipulate Jonathan. That's why Dracula called Lucy a monster.
I've never heard or seen this TV series of "Dracula". Definitely want to check it out. Even though, from the little clips I've seen, this is definitely not accurate to the original book at all. Either way, I'm going to watch season 1 (which I have heard this series has only one season).
It's definitely worth the look even though it is only very loosely in the extreme based on the book at all. As you'll see they pretty much took the book made their own story out of it but did well in my opinion
I remember him from The Tutors. Very great underrated actor. This was actually a pretty good show .
He was great as Henry the 8th
Katie was also in the Tudor’s. A small scene in season 1, she played one fo Henry viii’s mistresses
Just finished that show two weeks ago and I enjoyed it. Love the actor
Yes he was great in The Tudors and it was an awesome show I totally agree
I wish they hadn't canceled this show, it had a lot of potential!
Sour Drop yeao
The show was cancelled due to Dracula's drinking probelm.

He should have turn Harker into a Vampire 😅

When I watched the series, I thought the woman who played Lucy looked like Madonna.
That’s because Katie is a natural blonde.
I thought she looked like a madonna /daisy ridley/keira knightly hybrid
Don’t disgrace Katie McGay like that smh
Dracula‘s American accent, though
Nikola Tesla as a Vampire had Already been done (sanctuary).
