f bloods yes, in some respects you are right. When you race a 2 stroke, you should replace the top end every 25-30 hours. A simple top end job is really cheap and easy, even using the best piston and rings. You can also trail ride a 2 stroke if you wanted to, in that case, if you ride it easy, it can last you longer, maybe towards 50 hours because you aren’t revving high RPMs all the time. 4 strokes are better suited for trail riding, but yes, even racing a 4 stroke will blow it up in a matter of 50 hours. You may be able to get more if you do the proper maintenance, such as valve adjustment and checking the cam timing. You can definitely get more hours out of a 4 stroke when trail riding, however, when it comes time to rebuild the top end on a 4 stroke, you’ll be kicking yourself in the face because it is quite a lengthy process, and sometimes requires removing the whole engine from the frame and sub frame. Also parts for 4 strokes are much more expensive due to their complexity. I love both and I know because I own and ride both and have rebuilt both before. I must say, I do ride my 2 stroke more because it suits MY riding style better. It doesn’t mean I’m hating on 4ts, I just prefer 2ts for my riding style.

My four stroke dirt bikes is a Chinese made dirt bike and it's been completely submerged in water handlebars the only thing sticking up while the engine is running air filter sucking in water and it still starts with first kick

I love my old 2 stroke, its cheap and easy to work on. But the torque the 4 stroke has makes it effortless to clear jumps and is more fun if you ask me. But engine failure is much more catastrophic and much more costly.
I have a CR250R and I’ve had it up to 65/mph. Of course just for a little bit. Enough to see how fast it could go. But I can’t imagine doing that out on the street. They have two strokes that are made for the street. But I never rode one of those. Maybe they’re different I would hope so. My street bikes have always been 4 stroke.

They are much cheaper ill agree with you on that one, 12v71 detroit diesel 2 stroke is cheaper to rebuild than an equivalent 4 stroke diessel and so is a yz250 2 stroke easier to maintain. They only burn down if yoy do something stupid. 2 strokes have longer pistons and heavier bottom ends to withstand the constant firing pressures and greater heat and load the bearings on every stroke. 4 stroke revs much higher though and is more politically correct though. I got both and 8v92 2 stroke detroit and yz250 motor with no problems. If you dont thing a 2 stroke can run clean think again, there is Faribanks Morse with a huge trident OP 2 stroke diesel with over 6000 hp and new ETEC rotax and evinrude 2 stroke that are cleaner than most 4 stroke and a lot more power. 4 stroke is just an illusion to me.

I'm unbias. I think both have their strengths and weaknesses. As you mentioned, 4 stroke has a smoother power delivery and has a more controllable acceleration. 2 strokes are like a shot of adrenaline and win in that feeling of untamed energy. I think the choice of the bike would be situational

I love my old 2 stroke, its cheap and easy to work on. But the torque the 4 stroke has makes it effortless to clear jumps and is more fun if you ask me. But engine failure is much more catastrophic and much more costly.

I have a CR250R and I’ve had it up to 65/mph. Of course just for a little bit. Enough to see how fast it could go. But I can’t imagine doing that out on the street. They have two strokes that are made for the street. But I never rode one of those. Maybe they’re different I would hope so. My street bikes have always been 4 stroke.

I use 4 stroke as I live in Pensylvania and my 4 can go through everything. Hills, mud, and dust. I've maybe cleaned it 3 times over the last 4 years and it runs like new.

They are much cheaper ill agree with you on that one, 12v71 detroit diesel 2 stroke is cheaper to rebuild than an equivalent 4 stroke diessel and so is a yz250 2 stroke easier to maintain. They only burn down if yoy do something stupid. 2 strokes have longer pistons and heavier bottom ends to withstand the constant firing pressures and greater heat and load the bearings on every stroke. 4 stroke revs much higher though and is more politically correct though. I got both and 8v92 2 stroke detroit and yz250 motor with no problems. If you dont thing a 2 stroke can run clean think again, there is Faribanks Morse with a huge trident OP 2 stroke diesel with over 6000 hp and new ETEC rotax and evinrude 2 stroke that are cleaner than most 4 stroke and a lot more power. 4 stroke is just an illusion to me.

I'm unbias. I think both have their strengths and weaknesses. As you mentioned, 4 stroke has a smoother power delivery and has a more controllable acceleration. 2 strokes are like a shot of adrenaline and win in that feeling of untamed energy. I think the choice of the bike would be situational
