Goed om te horen en te zien, ik heb in 1977 als 2e wtk een maand of zes met een 6 TM 410 gevaren op het m.s. Meteoor van de KNSM. Die goeie oude tijd herleeft een beetje met deze film
Engines are turbocharged by BBC. Size does not matter. There are much bigger ones. The number of the engine can normaly found at the frond of the engine. (Front-ship, turbo-side) We have 2 engines no: 3511 and no: 3512
I love this clip! A few days ago I had the opportunity to travel as a passenger on the train ferry M/V Stena Scanrrail, built at the Vuyk & Zonen in Holland in 1973. She has been in service between Sweden-Denmark for 25 years and still have the original main engines, a pair of Stork Werkspoor 6TM 410 installed. Please have a look at the short clip I filmed if you like. It's posted as a video response.
Do these have any kind of forced induction? Seems like turbo charging would make sense, even at that size. Where can I find the numbers on a engine like this?
do you have a river near that power station? I just wondering is it direct or indirect cooling. I know this is a hospital, but on our ship we have MaK, its almost the same. Constant revolution at full throttle, 375 rpm.
No, It is one of two generaing sets for the emergency power of a hospital. This is the startup after 3 month standing still deu to a fire in the fuel room.

Music to my ears.

Stork-Werkspoor Diesel B.V., Zwolle/Amsterdam 6TM410, 1969, 6-cylinder 4-stroke, 2747 HP aboard motor suction dredger ZETA, PIM Belgrade:)))
@bigcyz The engines are cooled by a cooling tower. There is no river nearby.

That's me :)
During the start there is an air leak and generates a spray of lub oil. I was saving my white shirt...

hehe great sound!!
I've been there for two times as elektrician @ the AMC. Verry nice sound. It looks like if you ar in the engineroom of a aship.

It takes 24 years without stop 24/24 !!!
@johnsenkenn
1000hrs a smal maintenance.
9000hrs an overhaul
18000hrd a big overhaul.
So it's opend a few times. ;)
That is possible. This was one of the engines. Now they are replaces by 32df wartsilla. (And still not running)
Thank you for that. By "numbers" I was actually referring to statistics. I am sure I can search for them.
Was gaaf om na drie weken stilstand weer het vertrouwde geluid te horen
Mooie geluiden van een brokje degelijke techniek.
Prima karren die 410en maarruh de brandstofpompen he dat was soms wel eens een probleem.
@vinlien776 How fast do they go? 500 rpm?
So that comes out to 2400 CI and some change. big engine.
During start-up 270rpm.
Normaly 600rpm
i like the rockerarms
216,000 hours at, say, 50mph = 10,800,000 miles. (Are you sure it's not a Volvo! ;-) )
1 month to go. Then they will be stoped.
Now we are at 236024 hrs.
klinkt nog bijzonder goed voor 216k uren... :)
Ugh U dont want your hand in those rockers!!
The guy in the white shirt shits his pants.
Ha ha.
Niet goed geld rug, a Nederlander once told me.
