they never would. money is the playing field the capital class plays by and they will never rescind their power even as it risks everything and everyone.
Without corporate sponsorship there is no Democrat party. It's been like that for a long time now, we're just starting to feel the consequences of their dereliction of duty.
Imagine if Biden had used trump's pit pull attack methods against Manchin and Sinema. Sending people to their state constantly pointing out their weaknesses, implying DOJ investigations into their families, ripping them apart constantly until they fell in line. Sometimes I think senators never make good presidents because they are too "senatorial". Lets come together and reach a compromise. Those people are so easy to play. You just come into the negotiations with policies that are so much further away than you expect so that the compromise is way in your favor.
I heard this from several young men. They also told me her teaming up with Cheney made the nervous. They were worried about a draft. The irony is Trump will probably be starting wars.
Its just one piece of a common theme: Siding with doners over votes. She chose AIPAC instead of an ethical foreign policy. She chose to end the populist campaign messaging to win over a few more billionaires.
The AIPAC argument is flawed. Every time an AIPAC candidate for Senate and Congress most won. I think 1 or 2 lost but that's the extent of it. I think a clean break from Biden and promising to get lobbyists and money yeeted, that would be something winnable. Of course on top of ending the gside.
Well, even if they didn't vote out of a protest couch fest, they cannot complain about what is happening now. They were warned about the alternative and chose to sit on their hands.
Even if Kamala would have broken with Gaza, I still don't believe Kamala would have won. But if the approx 70% of white women who voted for Trump, had voted for Kamala, she would have won. 70% of white women???? As an African American women in America, I cannot begin to describe the sense of shock and betrayal I felt. Though many of my sisters were not, I was caught off guard. Could it be that we are still not ready for a woman president, especially a black woman... Misogyny and racism are rooted very, very, very deep in this country.
The Blacks and Immigrants from India, Latin America, Asia still suffer from a racial inferiority complex. This group was mesmerised by the golden toilets at Mar a Lago where Drumpf hid the classified docs he stole from the WH. I could not believe women voting for Drumpf in spite of all his crimes against women.
And we all acted like we were special when Harris became the Vice President. There are many countries who have already had a female PMs. We are absolutely misogynistic here.
Every White woman and man ( circle of friends) I know voted for Kamala to keep Tump out of office and on THE BALANCE OF THE ISSUES. But I don't want to see any more women run. Not for a long time. This country is so damn sick with racism and especially misogyny and we need to fix that first.
The reason I’m skeptical of this poll is that it’s not independent. It was conducted by The Institute for Middle East Understanding and it came to the conclusion that the Middle East was the biggest factor in the election, which isn’t surprising for them to conclude.
Yeah and also, even if a poll like this is done 100% correctly I also want the counter question on how many voted FOR Harris over Israel/Palestine. I don't think it's as many, most probably voted Trump, but it's important to learn what the net difference is.
Come on. This poll is not independent. It was manipulation on multiple levels. Disinformation, voter purge, intimidation, hacking. It wasn't one thing!
And let’s remember that he told Congress not to pass the border deal so his first day he is going to pass that exact bill. Because he had to be the one that fixed it. It didn’t matter to him if people died or anything
Oh no, they're planning a bigger bill with LOTS of funding for mass deportations... the 2024 bill will look like a peacenik love song compared to what they're planning.
The sad part is is that not voting is voting at this point. I’m really unhappy with Biden and the consistent funding to Israel, even on his way out. BUT now we don’t get our justice for what Trump did. Trump dodges accountability again. This is solely on you who did not vote.
@craig8945 We're not doing this song and dance again, old man. Blame yourself for convincing yourself to vote for a political party that made people from the other side of the world facing a cide that BOTH political parties are involved and responsible. Don't blame me for voting with my conscience, something that Democrats have taught you to throw away for their selfish reasons and agenda. Have you ask yourself why are we (America) need to be in Palestine while also supporting and funding extreme right wing religious extremists? All of this happened after WW2.
I’m an independent white suburban woman voter and called and emailed the WH last year about Gaza to stop sending weapons, I never got a response. I’m disgusted with Biden allowing a genocide and I hate him for it and was disappointed with Kamala not condemning Netanyahu and hated when she was with war monger Liz Cheney but I still voted for her cuz Trump is worse and crazy as f*ck.
To be honest, as much as I don’t like Netanyahu, I think Biden was in a no-win situation. Netanyahu probably wasn’t going to follow through with any of Biden’s deals until after the election, and even cutting arms might not have been enough to stop Netanyahu. There’s also the fact that Biden risks impeachment from both parties if he withholds Congressionally approved aid.

I certainly didn't like Harris' refusal to split with Biden on the issue of Gaza, but never underestimate Trump's ability to make a bad situation worse. Voting between Trump and Harris very much felt like a trolley car scenario, but choosing not to pull the lever is still a choice. If you jump ship and let the idiots drive the boat, you're still responsible for what happens.
The whole point of those trolley car scenarios though is to point out how difficult it is to make those decisions sometimes. There's been a pattern for over 40 years of right-wing and further right-wing governments alternating - in the US, and here in the UK as well. The people who made the choice to limit the choice that the public could make to be between bad and worse was the elites. That's not the people's fault.

It’s nice to know that the voters protested with our own democracy. So now the situation will probably get worse in Gaza and here at home in the US for sure will get worse. This was one of those things where you had to vote for the lesser of two evils is wrong.
People in the US are weird because when i vote, i vote for what happens in my country, not what happens in another one. But ok, Gaza... Up to a point is good to find out that there are people who hate the typical US international policy (basically the selling of weapons to commit mass murder) BUT, if you voted for Trump or not voted at all because of what's happening in Gaza, what you think it's going to happen under him? It's going to be worse because Trump doesn't care, he only cares if he can make money and, probably, he can make money out of Israel more than he can make money out of Gaza. Anyway, i hope all of you are consistent because Trump might start 4 wars with 4 different countries... i guess we'll find out if you actually are genuine about your principles when Trump doesn't solve shit or stops doing what Biden did.
I also vote defensively…..mainly for other demographics of other people. Not for a perfect candidate or party but for the lesser of two evils. I’d prefer to live in a country where there is at least the possibility of progress in a progressive direction-that cares about people, the environment, etc. but at the same time, nothing from my day to day life will necessarily be disrupted under trump. I won’t lose gvt assistance, I don’t have student debt to pay off. Would I have liked some assistance on buying a house and caring for children? Absolutely, but I can swing those things without the gvt, I’ve never anticipated they would be helpful on that front-but if you aren’t getting disaster relief because we’re apparently conditioning that now, or you are getting your rights stripped away, I’m not at risk of those things (save for being a woman, but in a very blue state) I recognized it was a big risk to others, so I saw it as my duty to protect against it.
Absolutely. I hope, too, that they will be out to protest Rump's wars, it is the least they can do for THIER OWN COUNTRY. Bail fund donations for them? Not from me.

My problem with this analysis is there's never a conversation on the amount of voters she may have lost by what some would've perceived as abandoning Israel.
Yeah, it could have been much worse. We just don't know. Most Americans, including democrats have an extremely slanted view on this issue. The media would have had a field-day, I wouldn't be surprised if MSNBC abandoned her and CNN is a given. On the other hand, it would have woken up millions of voters to this issue when they see the propaganda machine jump into overdrive. I honestly feel like these people weren't going to vote for a black woman in the first place and using Gaza as an excuse instead of just saying they weren't too keen on voting for a black woman. Everyone who voted in an authoritarian regime thought that and now they can't change it and are much worse off. Even if flawed the US still has a democracy (although Trump will try to change this).
@@playcloudpluspc It's not a democracy. It's inverted totalitarianism. Liberals can't "it's just flawed sweetie" their way into rationalizing the illusion of choice.
I think many folks were looking for a reason to NOT vote, and Ryan confirms this by listing it as one of his caveats. That said, the genocide in Gaza is a great reason to not vote, but imo, there were better reasons TO vote.
Ive been saying this the entire time I even have the data. 100 million people over 18 didn't vote. Now why do you think they're disillusioned with BOTH candidates
Well, I would not have thought people would actually be so stupid, either. Trump will make it worse in the middle east, the US, and the rest of the world. And we like to think that leftists aren't that dumb.
I agree. It was quite obvious people were very unhappy with the Democrats. If I wanted to vote for a republican, i’d have voted for Trump. Why would I vote Kamala?
Listen carefully to what he said - he was looking for objective evidence to substantiate the claim that people wouldn't vote for Harris because of Gaza but had, until now, been unable to find any in the polling data. That raises interesting questions about what the pollsters were up to that whole time, but I don't think it lands as a criticism of Kyle, unless you know of polling data he missed.

Imagine if Biden had used trump's pit pull attack methods against Manchin and Sinema.

True!
She lost because she’s a WOMAN. No other reason and that is sad.
The reason I’m skeptical of this poll is that it’s not independent. It was conducted by The Institute for Middle East Understanding and it came to the conclusion that the Middle East was the biggest factor in the election, which isn’t surprising for them to conclude.
Yes same thought here of course they would say that. So huge question if this was the foremost reason
yeah smells like bull crap to me
Yeah and also, even if a poll like this is done 100% correctly I also want the counter question on how many voted FOR Harris over Israel/Palestine. I don't think it's as many, most probably voted Trump, but it's important to learn what the net difference is.
Come on. This poll is not independent. It was manipulation on multiple levels. Disinformation, voter purge, intimidation, hacking. It wasn't one thing!
Still a data point... but yeah, now we need some more data points because this one is far from conclusive. If it's true/accurate... damn.

To be fair, she did refuse to call Netanyahu an ally to the US.

Ironic that by not voting for the one who was bad on Gaza they got the one who is going to be a million times worse on Gaza.
not a million - but twice as bad
I believe the historic Democrat voters understand that reality, but that’s the only choice and voice they can exercise to show the party they long supported that they are extremely disappointed and shocked by the open unconditional support of Israel’s G syde,

Something I didn't hear you mention, but I believe this survey also points to is... if Gaza was such a huge issue for voters, which I thoroughly understand... it's likely Biden would NOT have won either.
The main reason Harris loss - race/gender
Right, because Obama never got elected.
What you are not considering is how many people who voted Harris/Dem would have gone Trump/Rep had Biden or Harris took a more anti-Israel stance. That was the way I saw it since Oct 2023 in that Biden then Harris had a no-win option on this issue. Still Trump is clearly worse on the issue, so it doesn't make sense for all those people who didn't vote because of this. Then again, if people made sense, Trump would never have been the Rep nominee in 2016
I beg to differ, this wasn't a punishment of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris... this sentenced the rest of Americans and the world to a minimum of 4 years of the damage of trump and the republincans.
Yep, they punished themselves. Hate won 2024.

It’s nice to know that the voters protested with our own democracy. So now the situation will probably get worse in Gaza and here at home in the US for sure will get worse. This was one of those things where you had to vote for the lesser of two evils is wrong.
when it comes to jenna side "worse" is a meaningless term. there's no such thing as "the lesser evil".
The people who didn't vote for Harris and decided to sit out, got trump. So that's what you really wanted in the first place?
This was my thought like I almost don't want to believe this poll because I don't want to believe leftists/progressives would be this short sighted and well I want to use other words but I won't be rude lol. Like it sucks to have to vote for the lesser of evils but in Canada this is CONSTANTLY what we're doing and we have other parties that I'd like to see take over but it just seems it will never happen. So you vote strategically or wind up with Trump.
“Yeah Gaza is the top issue for me, that’s why I led upon inaction and helped get the ‘guy’ who said, ‘Gaza will be beautiful beach front property once it’s reduced to rubble’ and , ‘Harris, the person I didn’t vote for being too pro-Israel, wasn’t pro-Israel enough’, re-elected”

How does it feel to vote for a party who admit they were going to do absolutely nothing about the War on Gaza and accepting that you are in favor of cide as long as it is not affecting you or your livelihood? At least come out and admit it. Just like I admit I didn't participate in voting bc both parties did not represent me or the issues that do affect people's lives like a living wage, housing, stuff that really matters.
My problem with this analysis is there's never a conversation on the amount of voters she may have lost by what some would've perceived as abandoning Israel.
I agree.
Because it would have been minimal based on how loud the internet is against the genocide?
That report is bs and biased
Probably none.

We don't have to keep bringing up why she lost because election night was very clear about what these people wanted. So let them have it.
