- I got my first box of Stargrave figures the other day- the mercenaries in this case. All three sets should be in regular distribution at this point, so you should be able to pick these up at your local game store.
Hopefully we'll have a chance to check out the other sets in the future.
The mercenary box was my first choice due to the variety of alien heads and weapon variety available. Considering these models are pretty close in size to a lot of other plastics on the market currently, they're going to be great for conversion and making more unique models.
I didn't think they needed much converting though- there's a good amount of options already included. A nice touch was having all the pairs of arms numbered to match. Outside of perhaps a few GW analogs, there's a lot of weapon representation on the sprue. Развлечения
They look better than I thought. Will have to pick this box up.
Grabbed one of each boxed set last week, about halfway through at this point. Pretty nice figs, and as expected fully compatible with each other and with most of the Frostgrave/Ghost Arch stuff.
Brigade's latest email says the very similar cowboy set is coming next week, so be sure to save a few bodies to see how those cross over. Different company but I'll be amazed if that one isn't compatible as well. Plus the frame has cowboy hats for your giant spiders to wear.
I saw some combinations with the Stargrave kit and the cowboy kit you mentioned on a Stargrave facebook page, they appear to go together well enough. Definitely some fun combos to be had.
Right after I ordered them on a whim. Glad you covered them!
WHOA! And you made a Dorohedoro reference too! That’s sick!
Thanks! This vid answers several questions I had. Love the mixing of parts from various sources. Gonna pick these up soon and have some fun.
if I ever try out a sci-fi setting for DnD, these will be on te top of my shopping list.
In the Demons Box from Frostgrave are some horned (mostly Human looking) Heads. They Should fit on the Body's. Than they should look like a Bounty Hunter from Star Wars.
KAIMAN
Love that Caiman conversion!!!
This is a nice plastic set, either Croocked Dice and Pig Iron make a lot of heads, if they're compatible the possibility of conversions is incredibile
The scarred up dude is actually scultped after Kev Dallimore, who among other things, painted the example models on the box.
You slayed me when you said wish he had a cigar
these figures look great
Ah, man! These have been in my basket for ages.
They look really good, really solid models, so I will get round to them (and the Khorne Underworld warband) eventually, just wish it was sooner rather than later.
I know the feeling! There's always something new and interesting I want and have to wait- and yes, despite what some people think, I do have to wait for some of this stuff.
I'm a man of very few vices outside of books and models, but even I have to be very judicious with my spending too!
Great kitbashes
4:50 is clearly Kevin Bacon
I got all three with their Nickstarter. Great to mix and match. The Trooper set has female heads.
I'm thinking that'll be my next to acquire.
@@ObscuritiesinMiniature Trooper set is much more uniform than the other sets, all the bodies have the same armor style and there are sets of same-style helmets, weapons are more standardized looking (although still with good variety) and generally higher-tech. Arms are still compatible with the other kits, they did a good job on that - every left arm has one of those wrist-com bracelets on, no matter what set.
I don't want to sound nitpick-y, but when the cover of the box shows armored shoulderpads, you'd think they would have at least put a few shoulderpads in the kit if they weren't going to sculpt it on the minis....
I hadn't even noticed that until you mentioned it. Can't unsee them now!
@@ObscuritiesinMiniature the cover art for the trooper kit is the same. I don't seriously mind, but there's just a half second of disappointment when I realize I have to find something to bulk them out a notch
Wondering about these for futuristic artillery crew.
Is there a chance of you reviewing the new oathmark revenants kit in the future?
I have a box allready, haven't got to it yet because I also been working on some wargames atlantic Grognards and Eisenkern (also for stargrave).
I watched anyway cause I like to hear your opinion about sets.
I don't remember if you have done any eisenkern stormtroopers yet, but if you haven't, they're quite fiddly. 12 parts each on average rather than 4.
5:46 that's still kaiman for me
A classic masters of the universe Star Grave crew would be a fun build.
I'll be checking out what CMON is offering up next month in their kickstarter. I'd love a MotU crew!
Random question but I feel like I'll get a good answer here, I have a hard time finding weapons attached to left hands in any kits and am currently looking for a reliable kit for kitbashing using left arms with weapons. Currently I have been bulking things out with warhammer flagellants because they mostly dual weird, any boxes anyone can reccomend with an over abundance of left arms with weapons? Any genre will do, mele or guns ect anything it's more for variety. P.S. DMH plastic gunfighter are great also for left arms with pistols
Could those mercenaries be any good for converting/kitbashing into Chaos Cultists/Traitor Guard?
I don’t understand the concept of too He-Manish.
Same bodies with just variant heads. I'm guessing that's what I was thinking.
But where the space Dwarves.
You're going to want the Wargames Atlantic Einherjar, then. 24 modular figs in Viking Dwarf style, $35, as modular as this kit is.
The Forge Fathers live over at Mantic Games
Or if you want a sleeker, more high-tech look Hasslefree Miniatures has a huge range of Grymm minis in light, heavy, and power armor variants. No big OTT beards and very few axes, though.
I was thinking about one of the aliens' heads on the cover and a dwarf's body could pass for a Rocket Racoon expy
