Thank you for reacting to this one and sharing your views. I agree with your thoughts. I found it very frustrating over the years, watching BTS coming to the US, going to the award shows, visiting the radio stations, etc but knowing that the music industry over here is so corrupt that it would never allow them to succeed. Because BTS won't play the game. And I support them 100% in that - an artists success shouldn't be dependent on how much they are willing to pay the industry. So ARMY will continue to do everything in it's power to support them because we love their music and we love them. We will buy their records and sell out their concerts because we appreciate them - they make our lives better just by existing.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Since Boracity made this video, as an example, we've seen it happen to Jungkook as well: JK announced he'd be putting out a digital single... The *very next day* Billboard changed how they count digital streams!
I highly recommend Boracity's videos on BTS vs Spotify and BTS vs Radio where she goes into more detail about the industry and she brings the receipts to back it up. That's why her videos are so highly regarded in the fandom - there's a lot of thorough research behind them. (But they're definitely no less infuriating than this one. 😅)
Thanks for taking the time to look into background videos like this. It gives great understanding to the group's (and other sabotaged artists') circumstances.

Welcome Baby Army. I'm still kind of new too, since BTS found me a little over a year ago when I was 56 years old. I am technicality a Silver Baby Army. Yes, BTS finds you when you need them. I hope that the things you learn from the BTS rabbit hole can lead you to experiencing a new relationship with your music so you can get back into creating and sharing it. Maybe you were supposed to learn how BTS did it first so you can tweak your journey and become successful doing the thing you love. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 Borahae

Thank you, sir. I could see how hard it was for you to watch this, and appreciate your genuine reaction.
The fact is that BTS and ARMY have been very aware of this for years. They always faced chart manipulation and (as you know) ridiculous claims that they were trying to use dirty tricks. ARMY have also been accused of being bots - which RM called out in a pseudo-joke on a red carpet one year. It's a long time since BTS even tried to do radio interviews (and there are one or two hosts who are decent - and maybe even ARMYs) but when they did, their treatment by hosts was condescending and pretty xenophobic. Perhaps this is one reason why they no longer give them their time.
However, the weeks since final enlistments with early songs topping Spotify in multiple countries just goes to indicate that ARMY cannot easily be subverted. No one expected Noe More Dream to shoot to the top - it's old-fashioned, it's a style of music that BTS moved on from about 10 years ago - but it's still good music and outstanding performance - and a strong message that remains relevant.
I think that ARMY now are focussed on giving BTS and members all the support while they are in the military, and on preparing for their return after they have completed their service. I'm sorry, but Jimin will surely not have time to come to your cook-out! Jin has already announced his solo album will be issued in 2024. All the other members and BTS as a whole have left a LOT of material for ARMY while they are all working for their country.
American music industry may well find themselves shaken by BTS and ARMY because even while they are precluded from pursuing their chosen art, they can still dominate world music. That's Karma, which, as we all know, is an ARMY. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

I'm fairly new to BTS, but I'm so not sorry I came across that first reactor who chose to take a request from one of his followers to check them out. He was just as surprised as I was. And your not alone in your understanding and compassion for them. Many of your fellow male reactors truly vibe with most of their songs. BTS has always tried to reach out to a variety of people, by way of their different genre's. They have gained respect among many cultures, because of their acceptance of others. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I heard a lot of this shady things about music industry but I didn't know it was this deep and cunning. It's so frustrating and sad to think that there are probably a lot of artists around the world who probably has potential to be big but due to these reasons they aren't able to. This video makes me realize again how hard BTS works to be where they are now and the fact that they can achieve more if not for the sabotage.

@@cooked_gaminYou know what's more funny about the Western music industry? Despite it not being BTS home country, most US artist there can't even compete with BTS sales even if they use dirty tac-tics like bundles.
For example when they deleted 90% of Jimin's US sales, Jimin's 10% sales alone has 2000 more sales than the 2nd artist who has the most sales. So you can imagine the gap between the sales if they didn't sabotage it. But because the industry doesn't wanna play fair, they not only deleted Jimin's sales and refused to play his songs on radio so it got 0% radio spins, they also literally deleted millions of his RUclips views everyday.
I even have actual videos of the views quickly disappearing as proof.
Anyways, because of the deliberate sabotage, Jimin achieved the shortest and biggest downfall ever in Billboard's History. Of course he got mocked as a result by ignorant people, especially Kpop fans who hate BTS to the core, those people don't even bother to know what truly happened before mocking him.
Ironically though, before that happened Jimin accidentally revealed in an interview that he actually intended to release his album as a mixtape so it would be for free. But unexpectedly his fans said 'no' & he was quite surprised for their refusal.
To the people who don't know BTS actually releases songs and albums (mixtapes) that are completely for free. So fans who can't afford can enjoy them.
But the downside is, those songs can't be put into charts so it won't get popular despite it having millions of streams nor would BTS would get any profit from it.
Basically, Jimin from the start never intended to put that song or his album on chart or for Billboard, & he also doesn't intend to get any money from it either. Which is why he have the shortest promotion, in the US alone, he only accepted one interview. Which shows he doesn't even intend to make his songs popular.
Basically his song was the complete opposite of "Flower" by Miley Cyrus that kept blowing up everywhere cause it literally has accumulated 301.1M radio spins cause it was supported by the Industry.
It easily got popular cause it has lots of radio spins, paid ads, promotion, etc.
Basically getting no.1 on Billboard is easy as long as the huge label is willing to pay a huge amount of money to make their artist on top.
Doesn't matter if the song barely has sales or people don't even like the song. The industry is just a corrupted Business. They're greedy for money, so it doesn't matter for them if they exploit artist in the process as long as they have profit.
Which is why artist like BTS is such a menace for them. Why? Cause they don't need them to be on top of the charts. 😂 That's why they hate BTS so bad that they can't wait to replace them.

With Jimin... I, as an Army since 2015 get more angry about the industry because like the other 6 members, Jimin is one of the most humble and kind humans on this planet. All he does is work hard and do his very best... Whilst they have us, they will hopefully never need those corrupt industry execs who are attempting to control BTS's successes... Will they ever win a Grammy ? Who knows... with radio plays contributing to most charts and BTS rarely getting any, it's unlikely... I would LOVE for them to win one (not that they 'need' one) but just to show the industry that they can't control them...but whether it happens or not.... we will be there forever... 💜Borahae everyone💜

Not only have BTS recieved hate and backlash, now that they are so global, they still receive no love and respect..they beat some of the biggest American artists, not only Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber but Drake and even Taylor Swift.
There is should be no question, look at their fandom, social media account, ratings of music. Regardless whatever platform it comes out on, they always chart number one. Deny it if you want but, there's no lying. These numbers do not lie. When was the last time an artist or group has made these moves, these influences... not just in Korea or America but worldwide. People can lie, hate, joke, and misjudge BTS but our boys will stay on top. They are not Angel's in some eyes but truly are, state to put out song about depression, self love and social injustice... making legendary music that has impacted people for life and that is the difference between all the common artist today vs. BTS. These boys are on another level and hopefully one day after they have had that time, people can say it. Regardless they are legendary and have had their time and will continue to rule... we are all waiting for there return in 2025.💜💜💜❤

loved this reaction. boracity has amazing videos, she works really hard to bring these things to light. everything she showed is real, thats how it works unfortunately. we've seen the way bts is treated by both the american music industry and the kpop industry and i have to say i was shocked myself when i started learning about these things. i realised after i became army that even tho i knew about bts for many years i never ever saw them until i decided to look them up myself. no music recommendations, no ads, no nothing. i heard no songs from them and saw no picture, yet there were millions of fans online. even when i started checking them out they never recommended me more videos on youtube, whereas if i checked certain artists they would be all over by youtube recommendations after just listening to 1 song. i saw other kpop acts, much much smaller than bts before as well. so i wondered how is that possible? not one song, not one crazy big article by the western media about them, they werent anywhere so to speak ahaha. now i know tho. and i know its been so much harder for them because of this, but i love them even more for not giving up and in this way being an inspiration and motivation to millions of people all around the world to do the same. dont give up on things that you love💜

Looking forward to more Bora City channel videos. BTS vs Spotify, BTS vs Radio, BTS vs Attendance Award Shows digs even deeper.
Radio does not reflect what people are actually listening to, and now with streaming platforms letting you pick what you want to hear for free, radio is basically redundant. So Bora is completely right, it is the industry giving importance to radio not the public. Because if these radio play numbers were removed, BTS would be at the top constantly and many well known artists wouldn't be on the chart at all.💜

You should do several of Boracity’s videos they are very interesting.
Just a note on the series Squid game, it was a good series that had suspense, great acting and great writing. The second series is woeful. All American actors, terrible writing and the storyline is non existent, they cut everything that made squid game exciting. Another case of the American industry making a mess of something that was popular by cutting budgets, and quality of what they produce. I don’t know if this was to keep international series at bay or to sabotage overseas productions.

Hi dear. 68yo Army here. BTS's entertainment company HYBE (BTS are major stockholders and entitled to be involved in business decisions) purchased american entertainment company Ithaca Holdings, run by famous music producer Scooter Braun and renamed it HYBE America. The company employs Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez and others...basically meaning BTS is their boss now. I believe Usher is also under their label. It looks like BTS is beating them at their own game....as usual. And I love your reactions, by the way. Hurry back.

I think chart manipulatinb always existed - but some things make it easier.
For example you can change external sales records by buying back albums. The Koreans have their own word for it (sajaegi) but they did not invent that practice.
Or you can do it like this:
When last year it came out that Suga was the first rapper globally who had a sale of 1 million physical albums on the drop date - people began mentioning another rapper - except that was not counted since the people in charge and the public knew that there was a deal in place that said rapper had with a company that they buy 1 million albums on the first day (to give away as gifts).
How can you influence what is played on radio - legally:
Sponsor an event of the radio station - they will show their "appretiation" or
buy an "add" on the radio station and you decide what music plays before and after since that has an influence on the sales of the product.
(As far as I know about 99% of all radio stations are now owned by 2 big cooporations - one is IHeartRadio and I don't remember the other - or so I'm told by an ex-member of the US industry.)
I have to correct her on "Face" albums first-day sales in SK.
This happened because people ordered "late" a lot of albums. The result being that the re-sellers did not have the amount of physical albums in stock at that moment and only albums physical send out are counted. So the numbers are corrected downwards. This happened to a lot of artists that year:
Jimin, V, Seventeen, TXT but also aespa, Exo & Stray Kids etc.
In fact the music industry - because of the growth in the US - had new sales records for pretty much every artist.
Nevermind that I think that has something to do with the change in distribution. Till Army got stores like Target to order physical albums from SK people - if they got it - fans ordered directly over niche shops, online shops, fanclubs and directly from the label (which was even trickier since it was all in Korean back than). Now more shops have (unsold) Kpop-albums in stock and fans seeing that also buy - because "why not" and sometimes to help the artist & fandom/ sometimes to spite other fandoms (sometimes for Photocards) - because people.
I just think that no one paid attention to that before.
    You nice! keep going! 💜

The industry has been doing BTS dirty for a long time now including a huge portion of the Kpop industry as well. People who are new to BTS and don't know their story usually assume because they are so well known now that they came from money or a huge company etc but they were considered nobodies by the Kpop industry, were treated very badly because of their small company, and they literally built their company Big Hit up to what it is now. This is why there are army like myself that have very complex feelings about the label "Kpop" when it comes to BTS because 1. They are a bit of an anomaly in Kpop with writing/producing most of their own songs it's not the norm for kpop (although things are starting to change more after BTS) especially when it comes to an albums musical direction. 2. Because of members like RM & Suga their music often have deep messages or social commentary that again is not normal for kpop 3. The majority of the Kpop industry itself have given them hell for a long time they rarely could get on music shows or tv shows (some of the Big 3 Kpop companies or Elite own Korean tv stations) and when they did they were treated like crap by show hosts etc. Even now that they are huge they are still downplayed by some because they didn't use the "normal" methods and because of jealousy. And only some have changed their tune now that they are famous, well off. I'm sure it must feel very strange to have people all the sudden be kissing up to you because of your celebrity status that treated you like garbage to your face even when you were poor. 4. The western industry is now using the label "kpop" to other Korean's music and segregate them from everyone else. JK's album Golden was all in English, written & produced by Americans but is labeled Kpop by the major streaming companies & American awards shows because of the singer's race/nationality. American awards shows have now created "kpop" categories after BTS have won multiple American awards in Main categories against western artists and now members of BTS and BTS themselves are being nominated only in kpop categories instead of the main categories at these same awards shows. I'm one of the army who is not a "kpop fan", I was part of the general public. It doesn't mean I didn't check out other group's music even like 1 or 2 kpop songs but I just never connected with any of them before or after BTS. The guys have no problem being called Kpop it doesn't matter to them, labels are just labels. But I still feel a bit conflicted knowing that the whole Kpop industry are trying to ride on their coat tales of success claiming Kpop is the reason when it's BTS themselves that's the reason and when a lot of these same people have been trying to tear BTS down for years.

Yes because there is no official government or independent body that make's sure they worked under 'Fair and Open Practice' eg no regulation and laws like what happens in many other countries.
Also by removing streams they don't have to pay that artist for those streams they cut out (Spotify pay out the lowest amount per stream than the other streaming sites as well) They also take money from artist companies for 'paid for streaming curated lists'. Plus they take money from companies who advertise on Spotify.
Now they are saying they'll only pay a artist if they get 40, 000 streams a month and it's not much a few US dollars and say they are going to keep that money that doesn't belong to them put it into a pot then give that money to whichever artist they think have the biggest amount of streams. Stealing from the little artist to give to their favourite artists who's companies have been paying them money to put those 'favourite' artist onto paid for curated lists. It's disgusting and it's a pyramid system which in my country is illegal.

Think about the music industry 20-25 years ago. Black artists were never awarded, they were "othered" into separate categories instead of the main categories.
Now it is BTS and other Korean artists that get "othered".
The latest "rule change" BB did was making radio play weigh the most. Since iHeart Radio owns the majority of the radio stations in the US, and BB owns iHeart radio, BTS doesn't get radio play. If you look at the charts, a TS song will get 40 million airplay, and BTS will get 8k. They say "It's not English" but even their English songs didn't get airtime.

You'll find ARMY (BTS fans) like to give a thumbs up if we think you are doing a good job. We don't worry about the numbers.
