I guess I have seen this plant before but I wasn't aware of its names devil's backbone, Persian lady, redbud flower. However, I guess it is best not to keep this plant if someone has kids or pets because of its poisonous sap. Love the plant though

Why do People still think putting rocks at the bottom of a pot provides more drainage? it doesn't; it causes water displacement, so instead of the water going straight down to the hole in the bottom, it spreads out to make room for the rocks (displacement), thus raising the water level, similar to pouring water in a glass of ice-which causes the wate level to RISE in the glass, this exact same thing happens in the pot, thus the water sits among the plant's roots longer and keeps the soil saturated at the root level, which can cause "root-rot"....ESPECIALLY in succulents. it does not provide drainage. if you want drainage put a barrier between the soil and the bottom of the pot such as a mesh or a piece of plastic with holes in it, but do not put rocks at the bottom. This "old wives tale" of gardening is not logically, physically or even "chemically" correct, if you really look into it at the molecular level. It doesn't even make sense, at all.
