Why not find a local game store and tell them you'll buy all this stuff and have the retail store get a retail pledge for cheaper, making a little money off your guaranteed buy, and having the feeling that it's a safer buy at the very least than a group buy with strangers. Plus they'll get a discount on everything and maybe you'll get it for just the list prices in the pledge.

I mean you can, and you did, but hypothetically it makes a person seem foolish. 3) Printers exist. As do pictures of components. You don't have to scrawl on a piece of paper if you want to. My copy of the Others is full to the brim of content that I didn't have to pay hundreds of dollars for. The survivors are just that, printable. The abominations less so, since they're shuffled in the deck, which is why I highlighted them as the actual value. 4) There is no paid promotion tag on this video. This is not an advertisement. This is meant to be a balanced analysis of what you can buy and what is unnecessary (this exchange and your internet presence falling into the latter category). If you enjoy painting, great. But that's a different aspect to the hobby and one that you can't really refute, except if you're just getting the minis for painting then CMON hasn't been the best in the game for a long time. @@RoomandBoardReviews so in these "group buys"...everyone gets a complete set? or does a group buy one set and then divy up the parts/exchange custody periodically? and regarding point 3. last i checked, the least expensive resin printer is still more expensive than the entire game. and that's BEFORE resin costs, designing a mini/getting a template to print, and actually sucessfully printing the mini once you get the resin. I own an Anycubic...used a formlabs printer before it broke. believe me...just buying the minis is cheaper and takes a LOT less time. not to mentioN CMON has to date been pretty good about being able to STORE said minis in the box safely and efficently as opposed to other games i've seen.

So when a retail outlet generally can pledge for multiple copies, and you don't pay the 30 (or 80 in the case of marvel zombies), because the retail outlet has shipped it all together. So multiple copies get to multiple people, but for cheaper because you're working together to get it there.
@@alexsolomon8127 I think the term "dice chucking game" refers, broadly, to games that are light in rules, heavy in luck. Which I know is broad (so many terms in Board Games are), but that doesn't mean there aren't tactics. It just means that, even tactics included, the luck of the dice will still play a major role in how the game will play out (and card draws tbh). And it's a fair assessment; so is DMD and MD2, they're all light in rules with the luck of the dice playing a major role in how the game plays out. The irony for me personally, is that I only play Zombicide solo instead of coop because it's so light, I don't want to only control 1 character. Whereas if I control everyone and decide all of the tactics, then the decision space becomes more reasonable for me personally. Second irony is I don't paint! But still appreciate the cool, detailed minis. Just my 2 cents.
Straight up canceled my pledge. I have Undead or Alive with the Gears and Guns expansion that I got retail like a month ago. My first Zombicide, and I absolutely love it! Which is why I got excited about White Death. But I do have Zombicide at home. And I do have Cthulhu DMD S1-2 with 3-4 on the way. I can wait on this one. It'll be okay. So, I'm new to Zombicide and I'm trying to figure out where to start. I have this thing where I respond to visual style first. That means that I'm drawn the most to Green Horde. I just love the green minis and the tiles. But... should I go for it, or is there a better version I should get. Could some of y'all give me some feedback? Thanks!
Green Horde and Black Plague are both highly regarded as some of the best in the series/system so if you like the style I'd say go for that one for sure.
Green Horde cured me of Zombicide fomo. I didn't enjoy it, it took up a lot of space and wasn't getting a lot of play so I cut down to BP core, Wulfsburg, Deadeyes & BP Ultimates and that's more than enough Zombicide for me for the rest of time. You also got me on DMD being in such similar lane that I'm more likely to play that instead.
Chris, what do you think of 401 setting up preorders for ZB WD with KS versions for a fraction of the cost? Right now the placeholder is $119 CAD, which is already way cheaper than the KS. Plus they have been making it the actual KS edition, not the retail edition. I know for Stonesaga it had a clear notation on the pre-order page that it would be KSE. Would you buy it from 401 if their pre-order is KSE?
Not Chris, but I've ordered a few KS pledges from 401 games and if you want just the base pledge, it's generally a lot cheaper. They seem to make their money in the add-on bundles. That said, I'm guessing the White Death price will increase when they actually allow orders. I think I paid $150 for Cthulhu DMD S3 from them for the KS pledge and I expect Z:WD to be about the same.
I recently just got Black Plague and Green Horde used with all expansions, but had to track several down, and some got expensive. It’s a gigantic amount of content, and that along with Massive Darkness 1 and 2, I’m good for gaming for a long time… That being said, I was really tempted, knowing how hard it was to track down some of the BP stuff, so I certainly looked into the campaign. In the end, I just don’t like the feel of the theme. I backed away and ran as fast as I could before my Gino got the best of me. Give me a frozen theme of current BP, and I’d be in. The whole samurai/shogun feel of White death, and the fact that I can’t pronounce half of the abominations, I just wasn’t sold. Though, if the Turtles Time crash was standalone, I’d be in for that.
It's cool looking. Zombicide will ALWAYS look appealing for one reason or many. Be it the theme of the Zombies/Heroes, the locations and the different tweaks to gameplay and rules. Like I don't think a single Zombicide or CMON game hasn't hooked me in. That said, I don't have the space or time to have THIS much Zombicide xD! I still have and love all the ones I already have. I have Zombicide Invaders all-in, I have Zombicide 2nd Edition all-in, I have Zombicide Undead or Alive base and finally awaiting Zombicide Marvel's Zombies base + Sinister Six expansion. Do I REALLY need a 5th game xD? Maybe if it wasn't as expensive & I had the space for it. I tell ya what WOULD get me to buy a new Zombicide no question, Zombicide Dinosaurs...just full on Jurassic Park scenario but a Zombie Outbreak happens and infects the Park of Dinosaurs & tourists alike. Have underground labs and the theme park settings...a fucking T-Rex Zombie? Fuck yeah I want that!
I had talked myself out of WD completely for weeks. Then ultimately decided, fk it. I have the money, worst case I'll sell it and get at least my money back if I don't use it. I've never regretted getting in on a CMON KS but I frequently regret not getting in on it. It was that simple for me.
For me I am trying to decide if I should just back the initial $110 dollar pledge and then wait until the pledge manager / late pledge to add in the addon's or adjust things higher. I feel that I won't be satisfied with just the base game as I want some of the special zombies. I just don't know if the prices will all change by the time the pledge manager comes around. My gut tells me I should hold off on all add ons until later.
There's no downside in holding off and deciding later. If you decide later you want them, sure! But if you decide you don't want them and you've already paid for them, there just isn't an upside to making that decision now.
THIS.. I think the whole white death was a failed asian themed idea.. they fucked up by focusing so hard on Chinese themed so to speak and now they sticking anything asian in the game.. seems almost racist that they making it like it's Chinese themed but then putting everything that isn't Chinese in the game
@@jabbawookeez01 pretty sure one of the leads and many on the team are from China fwiw. I've seen a few comments on BGG suggesting they may be going for other markets that have been less pulled by previous themes.
Sorry thought I replied to this one, must not have gone through. To me, without the extras, a lot of the games feel very similar. I've only played Black Plague, Green Horde and White Death, and I think whichever one you can find for the cheapest works, they're all pretty good and feel really similar.
I already canceled my pledge mainly due to considering points that you bring up. I already have the other Zombicides so I really do not need another plus to be honest, Cthulhu Death May Die, which I have, is just a plain better game that is going to be far easier to get to the table.
Have played dungeon crawlers and mainstream boardgames. More than happy I have pledged for this as a potentially slightly harder Zombicide and will likely be my one off Zombicide game, although my gaming group mates are hooked on all of them. I picked up Asian theme right from initial release as part of what I liked about it. Confused about the comments saying it is half standard and half Asian inspired. The Chinese, Japanese and other history and mythology is all a win in my book!
This Zombicide campaign is a rough one. Normally Zombicide campaigns are pretty good because you get a lot of cool extras, but this one is difficult to justify. It's very unfocused and unpolished und uncohesive. And it's very niche, and a niche I don't particularly like (Three Kingdoms). And I really don't get why CMON made an Asian mish-mash out of it, and with anthropomorphic animals. Even Three Kingdoms deserves a better, more focused execution! The extra 10$ for the base pledge is also rough and repelling. CMON's prices were already high and it shouldn't be necessary to go beyond the magic 100$, even despite the global inflation.
I have MD2 but I have to get this specification for the tower defense mechanic and the Eastern culture all over it. Finally my people gettin some zombicide attention 💪💪💪
I have all of MD1 and 2 but they need to make a retail version of it I think with standees for more people to enjoy. And retail packs of the other classes.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that the Zombicide system requires that at least one player has to play more than one survivor if there is not a full complement of players. That is the one thing that has kept me away from the system, especially since I primarily play solo. Actually, maybe you better not correct me because if it is not the case then I might not be able to avoid White Death.
Haha, yeah it's always the case you have to play 6 characters. Honestly, it's not that hard to manage, because each of the actions you can take is fairly limited, which is why I much prefer playing at 2 or 3 because controlling more characters is MUCH more interesting. If you're just controlling one it's not the greatest experience. I fear this will make it more enticing for you, but I have to tell the truth!! XD
It isn't too hard to play with six characters, I do it all the time with different Zombicides. In 4 years of playing Zombicide, I have only played with someone else once as I have no friends!
Your #1 is definitely on point for me. Not going to stop me from getting it, hopefully painting it and eventually playing it. But I probably should start slowing down on these. :)
Reason Number 3 really actually doesn’t sound appealing to me. Was looking to get my first zombicide game here with white death and reason number 3 doesn’t sound good at all to me. You are just destined to lose if you draw a certain card? Is that unique to white death?
Yes it can be an issue in every zombicide game, only the first classic zombicide was more forgiving with the draws. But that randomness is why I love the zombicide series, even if you lose it's great fun.
Get one with the theme you enjoy the most. I would probably get black plague if fantasy is your thing, however black plague is pretty easy difficulty, white death is said to be much harder.
I went all in on Maladum. its a little pricy for what you get but it looks like a really awesome, deep dungeon crawler with unique lore and the terrain sets are so immersive.
I did as well. Maladum looks great! And I've played a few Core Space missions and really liked them. I'm curious how the campaign gameplay will feel and am excited for it but also wondering if I'll need to tweak some rules to get a little more time in each mission. That's really my biggest want...to be able to live longer in the mission. Lol
Thanks for reminding me that I backed C:DMD S3 and S4. That'll probably be my co-op dice chucker in my collection. I don't have a Zombicide and was waiting to jump on one, but maybe C:DMD will scratch the itch instead.
For me it's probably Zombicide. You only have to setup once and get a bunch more dice chucking. But they feel distinctly different as well since you only have one big boss in Townsfolk tussle and are dealing with lots of small easy to kill enemies in Zombicide

You have successfully talked me out of this one! I have black plague and I agree as a miniholic I wanted to see more abominations in the SGs. Segway though lol, I do want your opinion about Wild Assent if you even seen it. I know its didn't make over million and it's on gamefound late pledge right now. But it has an all in of $449 and you get like 290ish minis and of course all the videos talk about how great the rules are an such but the minis are amazing looking! lol
I own almost all the other of ZC titles. I originally backed White Death, then later cancelled, because as cool as the tiles and figures are (I'm a big miniature fan), I realized the Asian genre just isn't my thing. The minis are beautiful, but to paint all that gorgeous intricate detail would drive me nuts, and I am that guy that must paint minis before I play them. Weird reason, I know, but there it is. I hope someday they will make a WW2 or 1930's Lovecraftian ZC.
How dare you try to convince me not to buy something I want?! Just kidding! I’m actually backing for three reasons- #1 I enjoy my base box for Black Plague. #2 The additional content you get in stretch goals makes it a better buy (to me, any way). #3 I’m sure that amongst all the goodies that will assuredly be included in this set, the power of the weapons will assist in taking out Abominations. Only having the one method of getting rid of them in the retail box of Black Plague makes me want to get more boxes of things, and I’m not always able to at such a marked-up premium.
If you have black plague and/or green horde, you don’t need this. Don’t trap your cash and later on decide you don’t need it or want it. Just ignore it and wait for tons of fomo buyers flooding the resale market at cheap prices. Thats if you still want it. There are about 50 black plague/green horde missions on cmon site, ask yourself how many have you completed? 🤗

Great reasons to not back indeed, Chris! I'm stupidly backing at 1$ knowing I won't upgrade to any reward. I just like keeping up and be able to comment and stuff... There are a lot of other current and upcoming campaigns that realistically excite me more. When I calm down and collect myself from all the FOMO, I just know it doesn't make sense to back this one. I'm still waiting for a whole lot of Marvel Zombies and "CMON, Cthulhu, Death May Die!". Furthermore, I do have a lot of unplayed games on the shelves to try. So there's that. Maybe I'll back when they launch the highly anticipated "Zombicide: Purple PeePee" campaign. I can't make any promises to being able to control myself by then. We'll see.
Probably most obvious reason is that white death will hit retail for sure and I am betting at least some websites will sell for a bit cheaper than the original price .

It looks to me like you get half of a game if you go retail. They only give you the other half if you kickstart. I think the value is there in the pledge but the retail box looks like a dud. Get it Kickstart if you think you want it.

Me already having NotLD and Marvel on the way is enough for me not to get any more Zombicide. If I truly loved Zombicide, I might get it, especially if the fantasy theme were my biggest jam, but the ones I have are enough for me. Now Massive Darkness 2 I regret not getting b/c the 1st game did not impress me at all and so I didn't even bother looking at the sequel. I hope there will be a reprint of the Kickstarter exclusives with an expansion or Massive Darkness 3.
Grew up with Marvel since the 70's. Had to get the all-in MZ. Will be fighting the non-zombie heroes vs the non-zombie villains for my games. : D I think I will be down for just the base game with White Death. Wanna do the tower defense, guard team thing. Sounds cool.
It's not a particularly good one to start. It's just possible because it's playable standalone. And maybe because it's a medieval one, because they tend to be a bit better than other Zombicide types. It's sadly not executed all that well this time around.
You can find zombicide season 2 for $60-$70 at retail and probably play it before campaign is even over. If you love it you can then pledge for this $150 beast, but most likely than not, owning one is enough as the gameplay doesnt change much.
It is an investment as well. You can easily get your money back if you don't like the game. Including shipping. And if you are patient enough you can even sell it for almost twice it's original price in five years or so.
We just got Western Zombicide and loving it. We will buy expansion there first. Whet bothered me there is 14 survivor is just about enough. Here you only get 6, which means the same play every round. Sure in KS you get more than you need, but this will male the product super unappealing in retail. This is my reason I dont support such things. This seems designed so you think you need it now
I bought Marvel Zombices from a 3rd party company. I hope they will have the TMNT expansion in store or 3rd party. I already have Power Rangers: Heros of the grid and TMNT board game with expansions. Lol i do not want to become my brother and have over 20 or 30 board games.

Marvel Zombies killed CMON for me. I still payed my base Undead pledge, but wanted to add more initially. Now they will never get a single € from me ever again.
I really like these videos. Most questions I've already asked myself due to learning lessons the hard way, but sometimes you bring up some things I hadn't thought of. However, I have decided which Zombicides I need and which I will avoid. I had the original and switched to 2nd edition, good to play with new players and sometimes when I feel like it. I've planned on getting BP and GH sometime, this campaign helped me make that move. Love the theme (of both European and Asian) and the necromancer mechanic. Marvel Zombicide looks different enough and I'm stoked for that. UoA is one I'll be selling. Looks cool, nice new mechanics, but I don't need another.
Other reasons The theme doesn’t combine well with BP or GH. The art doesn’t match with BP or GH. The mini style doesn’t match BP or GH. It’s not consistent even in itself. Just lumps various asian cultures together. Much of the rule changes you could just add into a different zombicide with none of these components. And the components you do need are easy to proxy. If you want the tiles cmon usually sells the map packs at retail for cheap.
I'm still waiting for CDMD season 3 and Marvel Zombicide so I'm out on this one. The thematic disconnect is enough to keep me away. My wallet is happy, and I can continue to wait for the inevitable pirate Zombicide to tempt me in a few years.
I have Zombicide Season 1, and had all other boxes til invader, and sell all of them. For me, Invader and Green Horde are the best one, but my friends prefer the season 1. All the rules and update are easly implement on the older boxer, and there is no reason to have more than 1 our 2 boxes, for me. Yeah, its nice have various minis, differentes themes, but it still the same game, so in the end, it's just a money grab.
Reason #6: Zombicide: White Death is a direct rip-off of Okko Chronicles: Cycle of Water (which launched on KS one year ago), and Okko looks like a better game with far superior artwork.
In my case, the game gets more expensive with VAT. The fact that the game will be released in my language and that maybe not everybody I will play with knows enough english to play is enough reason not to back. And I'm thinking of not buying any more CMON games because of all those exclusive KS things they put in their campaigns to 'obligue' people to pledge. I don't care for tons of survivors but not having the chance to buy and play with things like the Berserker walkers is not something you do to customers if you appreciate them.
I agree with some people.. they should have clearly stated what was the theme for white death. I have like no connection to any of the lore of the people/unlocks they give. Is almost exclusively asian lore/mythology. And I might..MIGHT just not get this and get marvel zombicide instead and what's with the fucking animals and MMA mixed to it. What about this is related to black plague and stuff
I don't think large amounts of new people are buying these Zombicide games. I suspect they are people with all the stuff. At some point Zombicide is gunna burn out for CMON.
Is the "sometimes due to spawn setup the game is impossible to win" a real problem? Like does that happen or is that a super rare thing and does that exist in released zombicide versions?
White death was the first time I really experienced it full on (so hopefully that balance gets tweaked outside of the prototype), but I've had some pretty difficult draws before as well. If you spawn two necromancers early on in Black Plague, sometimes you might as well just restart.
I was so excited, and now I'm not. Reason number 6 - lack of focus. The game (so far) seems to be a weird mish-mash of Chinese mythos, Japanese, Slavic, a few Anthropomorhs chucked in there with no rhythm or reason. I'm sure the game itself will be a fun Zombicide romp (I own 3 cores and some expansions) but I hate the world-building. It just feels like it was built by committee. Maybe the expansions will focus it and my excitement will reignite.
I think you can have MD2 and Zcide, or DMD and Zcide... and literally as I'm thinking this, your point #1 comes in with perfect timing. I DO think that if you own one Zombicide, then that is enough. I've actually got MZ All-In coming, it's my only Zombicide, and it is for that very reason I am not getting this one. Even if it does look "cool", pun intended.
I thought you had swapped out for a much younger brother - then realised you had tricked me by stagecraft - wearing a backwards baseball cap - When I KS MD2 I didn't have BP - didn't realise value of promo cards for BP - they may bring those back for $10 , pus all the new stuff - so super cheap addons to MD2, ZWP, BP 0 think as a pro-tip always get exclusive promo backs like that as can proxy - or sell for 5 times cost. @@RoomandBoardReviews so in these "group buys"...everyone gets a complete set? or does a group buy one set and then divy up the parts/exchange custody periodically? and regarding point 3. last i checked, the least expensive resin printer is still more expensive than the entire game. and that's BEFORE resin costs, designing a mini/getting a template to print, and actually sucessfully printing the mini once you get the resin. I own an Anycubic...used a formlabs printer before it broke. believe me...just buying the minis is cheaper and takes a LOT less time. not to mentioN CMON has to date been pretty good about being able to STORE said minis in the box safely and efficently as opposed to other games i've seen.
@@alexsolomon8127 Nah, a group buy is when you all buy it together and save on the shipping costs. So when a retail outlet generally can pledge for multiple copies, and you don't pay the 30 (or 80 in the case of marvel zombies), because the retail outlet has shipped it all together. So multiple copies get to multiple people, but for cheaper because you're working together to get it there.
@@alexsolomon8127 I think the term "dice chucking game" refers, broadly, to games that are light in rules, heavy in luck. Which I know is broad (so many terms in Board Games are), but that doesn't mean there aren't tactics. It just means that, even tactics included, the luck of the dice will still play a major role in how the game will play out (and card draws tbh).
And it's a fair assessment; so is DMD and MD2, they're all light in rules with the luck of the dice playing a major role in how the game plays out. The irony for me personally, is that I only play Zombicide solo instead of coop because it's so light, I don't want to only control 1 character. Whereas if I control everyone and decide all of the tactics, then the decision space becomes more reasonable for me personally.
Second irony is I don't paint! But still appreciate the cool, detailed minis.

Straight up canceled my pledge. I have Undead or Alive with the Gears and Guns expansion that I got retail like a month ago. My first Zombicide, and I absolutely love it! Which is why I got excited about White Death. But I do have Zombicide at home. And I do have Cthulhu DMD S1-2 with 3-4 on the way. I can wait on this one. It'll be okay. I don't need to pledge right now. Thanks.

So, I'm new to Zombicide and I'm trying to figure out where to start. I have this thing where I respond to visual style first. That means that I'm drawn the most to Green Horde. I just love the green minis and the tiles. But... should I go for it, or is there a better version I should get. Could some of y'all give me some feedback? Thanks!
Green Horde and Black Plague are both highly regarded as some of the best in the series/system so if you like the style I'd say go for that one for sure.

Green Horde cured me of Zombicide fomo. I didn't enjoy it, it took up a lot of space and wasn't getting a lot of play so I cut down to BP core, Wulfsburg, Deadeyes & BP Ultimates and that's more than enough Zombicide for me for the rest of time. You also got me on DMD being in such similar lane that I'm more likely to play that instead.

Chris, what do you think of 401 setting up preorders for ZB WD with KS versions for a fraction of the cost? Right now the placeholder is $119 CAD, which is already way cheaper than the KS. Plus they have been making it the actual KS edition, not the retail edition. I know for Stonesaga it had a clear notation on the pre-order page that it would be KSE. Would you buy it from 401 if their pre-order is KSE?
Not Chris, but I've ordered a few KS pledges from 401 games and if you want just the base pledge, it's generally a lot cheaper. They seem to make their money in the add-on bundles.
That said, I'm guessing the White Death price will increase when they actually allow orders. I think I paid $150 for Cthulhu DMD S3 from them for the KS pledge and I expect Z:WD to be about the same.
I recently just got Black Plague and Green Horde used with all expansions, but had to track several down, and some got expensive. It’s a gigantic amount of content, and that along with Massive Darkness 1 and 2, I’m good for gaming for a long time…
That being said, I was really tempted, knowing how hard it was to track down some of the BP stuff, so I certainly looked into the campaign. In the end, I just don’t like the feel of the theme. I backed away and ran as fast as I could before my Gino got the best of me.
Give me a frozen theme of current BP, and I’d be in. The whole samurai/shogun feel of White death, and the fact that I can’t pronounce half of the abominations, I just wasn’t sold.
Though, if the Turtles Time crash was standalone, I’d be in for that.
It's cool looking. Zombicide will ALWAYS look appealing for one reason or many. Be it the theme of the Zombies/Heroes, the locations and the different tweaks to gameplay and rules. Like I don't think a single Zombicide or CMON game hasn't hooked me in.
That said, I don't have the space or time to have THIS much Zombicide xD! I still have and love all the ones I already have. I have Zombicide Invaders all-in, I have Zombicide 2nd Edition all-in, I have Zombicide Undead or Alive base and finally awaiting Zombicide Marvel's Zombies base + Sinister Six expansion. Do I REALLY need a 5th game xD? Maybe if it wasn't as expensive & I had the space for it.
I tell ya what WOULD get me to buy a new Zombicide no question, Zombicide Dinosaurs...just full on Jurassic Park scenario but a Zombie Outbreak happens and infects the Park of Dinosaurs & tourists alike. Have underground labs and the theme park settings...a fucking T-Rex Zombie? Fuck yeah I want that!
I had talked myself out of WD completely for weeks. Then ultimately decided, fk it. I have the money, worst case I'll sell it and get at least my money back if I don't use it. I've never regretted getting in on a CMON KS but I frequently regret not getting in on it. It was that simple for me.
For me I am trying to decide if I should just back the initial $110 dollar pledge and then wait until the pledge manager / late pledge to add in the addon's or adjust things higher. I feel that I won't be satisfied with just the base game as I want some of the special zombies. I just don't know if the prices will all change by the time the pledge manager comes around. My gut tells me I should hold off on all add ons until later.
There's no downside in holding off and deciding later. If you decide later you want them, sure! But if you decide you don't want them and you've already paid for them, there just isn't an upside to making that decision now.
The stretch goals being a totally opposite theme make me think they are from a failed Asian zombicide idea

I think the whole white death was a failed asian themed idea.. they fucked up by focusing so hard on Chinese themed so to speak and now they sticking anything asian in the game.. seems almost racist that they making it like it's Chinese themed but then putting everything that isn't Chinese in the game

Sorry thought I replied to this one, must not have gone through. To me, without the extras, a lot of the games feel very similar. I've only played Black Plague, Green Horde and White Death, and I think whichever one you can find for the cheapest works, they're all pretty good and feel really similar.

I already canceled my pledge mainly due to considering points that you bring up. I already have the other Zombicides so I really do not need another plus to be honest, Cthulhu Death May Die, which I have, is just a plain better game that is going to be far easier to get to the table.
Have played dungeon crawlers and mainstream boardgames. More than happy I have pledged for this as a potentially slightly harder Zombicide and will likely be my one off Zombicide game, although my gaming group mates are hooked on all of them.
I picked up Asian theme right from initial release as part of what I liked about it. Confused about the comments saying it is half standard and half Asian inspired. The Chinese, Japanese and other history and mythology is all a win in my book!
So, what happens if they make a Massive Darkness 2 Crossover kit?

This Zombicide campaign is a rough one. Normally Zombicide campaigns are pretty good because you get a lot of cool extras, but this one is difficult to justify.
It's very unfocused and unpolished und uncohesive. And it's very niche, and a niche I don't particularly like (Three Kingdoms).
And I really don't get why CMON made an Asian mish-mash out of it, and with anthropomorphic animals. Even Three Kingdoms deserves a better, more focused execution!
The extra 10$ for the base pledge is also rough and repelling. CMON's prices were already high and it shouldn't be necessary to go beyond the magic 100$, even despite the global inflation.

I have all of MD1 and 2 but they need to make a retail version of it I think with standees for more people to enjoy. And retail packs of the other classes.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that the Zombicide system requires that at least one player has to play more than one survivor if there is not a full complement of players. That is the one thing that has kept me away from the system, especially since I primarily play solo. Actually, maybe you better not correct me because if it is not the case then I might not be able to avoid White Death.
Haha, yeah it's always the case you have to play 6 characters. Honestly, it's not that hard to manage, because each of the actions you can take is fairly limited, which is why I much prefer playing at 2 or 3 because controlling more characters is MUCH more interesting. If you're just controlling one it's not the greatest experience. I fear this will make it more enticing for you, but I have to tell the truth!! XD
It isn't too hard to play with six characters, I do it all the time with different Zombicides. In 4 years of playing Zombicide, I have only played with someone else once as I have no friends!
Your #1 is definitely on point for me. Not going to stop me from getting it, hopefully painting it and eventually playing it. But I probably should start slowing down on these. :)
Reason Number 3 really actually doesn’t sound appealing to me. Was looking to get my first zombicide game here with white death and reason number 3 doesn’t sound good at all to me. You are just destined to lose if you draw a certain card? Is that unique to white death?
Not unique to WD, it is endemic to the Zombicide system. But if WD is harder than BP or GH it may happen more frequently.
Yes it can be an issue in every zombicide game, only the first classic zombicide was more forgiving with the draws.
But that randomness is why I love the zombicide series, even if you lose it's great fun.

Get one with the theme you enjoy the most. I would probably get black plague if fantasy is your thing, however black plague is pretty easy difficulty, white death is said to be much harder.

I went all in on Maladum. its a little pricy for what you get but it looks like a really awesome, deep dungeon crawler with unique lore and the terrain sets are so immersive.
I did as well. Maladum looks great! And I've played a few Core Space missions and really liked them. I'm curious how the campaign gameplay will feel and am excited for it but also wondering if I'll need to tweak some rules to get a little more time in each mission. That's really my biggest want...to be able to live longer in the mission. Lol
Thanks for reminding me that I backed C:DMD S3 and S4. That'll probably be my co-op dice chucker in my collection. I don't have a Zombicide and was waiting to jump on one, but maybe C:DMD will scratch the itch instead.

For me it's probably Zombicide. You only have to setup once and get a bunch more dice chucking. But they feel distinctly different as well since you only have one big boss in Townsfolk tussle and are dealing with lots of small easy to kill enemies in Zombicide

You have successfully talked me out of this one! I have black plague and I agree as a miniholic I wanted to see more abominations in the SGs. Segway though lol, I do want your opinion about Wild Assent if you even seen it. I know its didn't make over million and it's on gamefound late pledge right now. But it has an all in of $449 and you get like 290ish minis and of course all the videos talk about how great the rules are an such but the minis are amazing looking! lol
I own almost all the other of ZC titles. I originally backed White Death, then later cancelled, because as cool as the tiles and figures are (I'm a big miniature fan), I realized the Asian genre just isn't my thing. The minis are beautiful, but to paint all that gorgeous intricate detail would drive me nuts, and I am that guy that must paint minis before I play them. Weird reason, I know, but there it is. I hope someday they will make a WW2 or 1930's Lovecraftian ZC.

How dare you try to convince me not to buy something I want?! Just kidding! I’m actually backing for three reasons- #1 I enjoy my base box for Black Plague. #2 The additional content you get in stretch goals makes it a better buy (to me, any way). #3 I’m sure that amongst all the goodies that will assuredly be included in this set, the power of the weapons will assist in taking out Abominations. Only having the one method of getting rid of them in the retail box of Black Plague makes me want to get more boxes of things, and I’m not always able to at such a marked-up premium.

If you have black plague and/or green horde, you don’t need this. Don’t trap your cash and later on decide you don’t need it or want it. Just ignore it and wait for tons of fomo buyers flooding the resale market at cheap prices. Thats if you still want it. There are about 50 black plague/green horde missions on cmon site, ask yourself how many have you completed? 🤗

Great reasons to not back indeed, Chris! I'm stupidly backing at 1$ knowing I won't upgrade to any reward. I just like keeping up and be able to comment and stuff... There are a lot of other current and upcoming campaigns that realistically excite me more. When I calm down and collect myself from all the FOMO, I just know it doesn't make sense to back this one. I'm still waiting for a whole lot of Marvel Zombies and "CMON, Cthulhu, Death May Die!". Furthermore, I do have a lot of unplayed games on the shelves to try. So there's that. Maybe I'll back when they launch the highly anticipated "Zombicide: Purple PeePee" campaign. I can't make any promises to being able to control myself by then. We'll see.

It looks to me like you get half of a game if you go retail. They only give you the other half if you kickstart. I think the value is there in the pledge but the retail box looks like a dud. Get it Kickstart if you think you want it.

Me already having NotLD and Marvel on the way is enough for me not to get any more Zombicide. If I truly loved Zombicide, I might get it, especially if the fantasy theme were my biggest jam, but the ones I have are enough for me. Now Massive Darkness 2 I regret not getting b/c the 1st game did not impress me at all and so I didn't even bother looking at the sequel. I hope there will be a reprint of the Kickstarter exclusives with an expansion or Massive Darkness 3.

It's not a particularly good one to start. It's just possible because it's playable standalone. And maybe because it's a medieval one, because they tend to be a bit better than other Zombicide types.
It's sadly not executed all that well this time around.
You can find zombicide season 2 for $60-$70 at retail and probably play it before campaign is even over. If you love it you can then pledge for this $150 beast, but most likely than not, owning one is enough as the gameplay doesnt change much.
It is an investment as well. You can easily get your money back if you don't like the game. Including shipping. And if you are patient enough you can even sell it for almost twice it's original price in five years or so.
We just got Western Zombicide and loving it. We will buy expansion there first.
Whet bothered me there is 14 survivor is just about enough.
Here you only get 6, which means the same play every round. Sure in KS you get more than you need, but this will male the product super unappealing in retail.

I really like these videos. Most questions I've already asked myself due to learning lessons the hard way, but sometimes you bring up some things I hadn't thought of. However, I have decided which Zombicides I need and which I will avoid. I had the original and switched to 2nd edition, good to play with new players and sometimes when I feel like it. I've planned on getting BP and GH sometime, this campaign helped me make that move. Love the theme (of both European and Asian) and the necromancer mechanic. Marvel Zombicide looks different enough and I'm stoked for that. UoA is one I'll be selling. Looks cool, nice new mechanics, but I don't need another.

Other reasons
The theme doesn’t combine well with BP or GH.
The art doesn’t match with BP or GH.
The mini style doesn’t match BP or GH.
It’s not consistent even in itself. Just lumps various asian cultures together.
Much of the rule changes you could just add into a different zombicide with none of these components. And the components you do need are easy to proxy. If you want the tiles cmon usually sells the map packs at retail for cheap.
I'm still waiting for CDMD season 3 and Marvel Zombicide so I'm out on this one. The thematic disconnect is enough to keep me away. My wallet is happy, and I can continue to wait for the inevitable pirate Zombicide to tempt me in a few years.
I have Zombicide Season 1, and had all other boxes til invader, and sell all of them. For me, Invader and Green Horde are the best one, but my friends prefer the season 1. All the rules and update are easly implement on the older boxer, and there is no reason to have more than 1 our 2 boxes, for me. Yeah, its nice have various minis, differentes themes, but it still the same game, so in the end, it's just a money grab.
Reason #6: Zombicide: White Death is a direct rip-off of Okko Chronicles: Cycle of Water (which launched on KS one year ago), and Okko looks like a better game with far superior artwork.
In my case, the game gets more expensive with VAT. The fact that the game will be released in my language and that maybe not everybody I will play with knows enough english to play is enough reason not to back. And I'm thinking of not buying any more CMON games because of all those exclusive KS things they put in their campaigns to 'obligue' people to pledge. I don't care for tons of survivors but not having the chance to buy and play with things like the Berserker walkers is not something you do to customers if you appreciate them.
I agree with some people.. they should have clearly stated what was the theme for white death. I have like no connection to any of the lore of the people/unlocks they give. Is almost exclusively asian lore/mythology. And I might..MIGHT just not get this and get marvel zombicide instead and what's with the fucking animals and MMA mixed to it. What about this is related to black plague and stuff
I don't think large amounts of new people are buying these Zombicide games. I suspect they are people with all the stuff. At some point Zombicide is gunna burn out for CMON.
Is the "sometimes due to spawn setup the game is impossible to win" a real problem? Like does that happen or is that a super rare thing and does that exist in released zombicide versions?
White death was the first time I really experienced it full on (so hopefully that balance gets tweaked outside of the prototype), but I've had some pretty difficult draws before as well. If you spawn two necromancers early on in Black Plague, sometimes you might as well just restart.

Reason number 6 - lack of focus. The game (so far) seems to be a weird mish-mash of Chinese mythos, Japanese, Slavic, a few Anthropomorhs chucked in there with no rhythm or reason. I'm sure the game itself will be a fun Zombicide romp (I own 3 cores and some expansions) but I hate the world-building. It just feels like it was built by committee. Maybe the expansions will focus it and my excitement will reignite.
I think you can have MD2 and Zcide, or DMD and Zcide... and literally as I'm thinking this, your point #1 comes in with perfect timing.
I DO think that if you own one Zombicide, then that is enough. I've actually got MZ All-In coming, it's my only Zombicide, and it is for that very reason I am not getting this one. Even if it does look "cool", pun intended.

I thought you had swapped out for a much younger brother - then realised you had tricked me by stagecraft - wearing a backwards baseball cap - When I KS MD2 I didn't have BP - didn't realise value of promo cards for BP - they may bring those back for $10 , pus all the new stuff - so super cheap addons to MD2, ZWP, BP 0 think as a pro-tip always get exclusive promo backs like that as can proxy - or sell for 5 times cost. As an aside reason 6 watch KoA click bait titles - no idea what he said as hate endless click bait - so tagged not interested .
