Undoubtedly, the greatest performers, Cliff Richard and the Shadows reigned supreme for decades, even now their music, songs is still loved by people of all generations.
The Shadows on their own or backing Cliff were the backdrop to my developing years and a passion ever since. My music listening preferences are varied and may seem incongruous to others, yet The Shadows have been to me like such a big part of my enjoyment of life and music, that it's impossible to Imagine how things would have been without them and the music they played.

Cliff n the shadows set the world on fire with their unique sound. When Cliff n the shadows burst on the scene in 1958 every musician whether he knew to play a guitar or what. Tried making a guitar with oil gallon 5litre tin. But the shadows with 3guitars, n a drum, set the world ablaze. N not forgetting the big joko T box as a drum. Every musician including me too owe our gratitude to cliff n the shadows. In Durban n all over SA n every small or big towns a band was formed. N they played hits of the shadows. Well some sang} imitating Elvis, cliff but the shadows music was on the number one list. We all danced to this kind of music. This music of the shadows will never ever die. Long live cliff, n the shadows.
Seeing them perform all together is a great joy, they're great guys w/ great talents & I never heard them Quarrel or have misunderstanding & no intrigue among them after all these years & no wonder that they have lasted '58 to 2009 really great.
Look at the crowd of happy, singing fans. Not a single one below 50! Cliff and the Shadows are still popular now as they were in the 60s. Amazingly, they are still with us, through their clean living, drug-free lifestyle, their non-extreme attitude. The three original members are still with us, except Jet Harris and Tony Meehan, who left The Shadows to start their own career, passed away years ago.
I saw this show at Rod laver Arena in Melbourne Australia and also have this 2009 DVD. If you only buy one CR&S DVD , this is it. The guys sounds just like their records.
I drummed to the Shadows ,on record, when I was 14, then learned guitar , rhythm ,and followed the instrumentals, now playing Ukulele at 72, still doing rhythm on Apache/sleep walk etc. Thank you Cliff and the Shadows for spurring us on and showing how to play and practice , and keep going with it. I actually saw you ,at the London Palladium, in the very early days ,when you were the Drifters. a highlight of my whole life, I wish I could see you again!! Now live in Canada, any chances of you in Vancouver?!!!
I loved the Shadows and the Ventures. I like to play the old instrumental surf type music on my guitar. The Ventures were more surf and the Shadows are famous for the echo Hank used. I live in Southern California and the Ventures are more well known but anyone that plays old surf music know the Shadows.

Cliff Richard never 'joined' The Shadows neither were they HIS BAND !, they played together and apart, Cliff and THE SHADOWS were always separate entities
