I modified a regular backback to put it at the front of my chest to hold the balls. This makes it way easier as you always have both hands free, and can load 2 dozen balls in it. There is no bending over to the pail for balls and will even protect your chest if need be.

Great tutorial and knowledge advice for the Blue flame Coach. My son is just starting little league. The wife and I are looking for a machine to buy so he and his sister who plays softball can practice with. Thank you!

You are the only one I have seen that explains the physics like placing the ball correctly can affect the throw

Great video! I have watched a few videos about the Blue Flame and they always feel very general and not enough info. I think you got hit the sweet spot.

Good review/lesson Thx. I just bought the blue frame pro, and still tinkering. I saw another guy place the ball differently in the throwing arm. My machine has quite a punch. I modified it with 2 drill holes in the front crossbar and drove 2 stakes into the ground along with the ground spikes that came with it. No way I could use it without stakes, easily or consistently. I would be adjusting all day

You are welcome! I know another coach who did the same thing and put a 3rd stake in the rear leg.

I mounted mine to a 2x3' 5/8"piece of plywood and use 7 spikes. Actually 10-12 " carriage bolts ground to a point, and it does not move at all. It is no problem removing them either. I drilled 2 holes in the front crossbar as well 5 more holes in the plywood and bolted it to the plywood and use the spike holes for the carriage bolts and disassemble with the wing nut and leave the front bar bolted to the plywood. It goes nowhere

Coach, thank you so much for the down and dirty explanation. I'm excited to get mine on the field. Do you have a suggestion of how often to change out springs?

    • @coachscornerWells

I change them out every season. Amazon sells multi-packs.

I wonder if anyone has ever tried modifying this machine to use 2 springs instead of 1 for faster pitches lol.
