Yes, I had new skins for my seats and was waiting to find a good upholstery shop...but ended up doing the job myself which came out great and saved me a bunch of money! Boat looks new again despite being 15 years old now.
Marc, thanks for the videos. My old PD-WBL isn’t working well with my Carbon and I’m gonna change it. Have a question though. You said the 9 pin is compatible with the Carbon, but the Carbon is only a 7 pin sonar port. I’m guessing that the 9 pin pd-wbl would fit the black sonar port, but then I would lose my 3-1. I know they have a 9pin transducer to 7 pin graph adapter available, if I install a 9 pin pd-wbl. But is there anything different in the 9 pin PD, vs the 7 pin PD? Should I just install the new 9 and buy an adapter or just stick with the 7 pin that doesn’t need an adapter? I’m just wanting to make sure that the functions of the 9 pin PD and 7 PD are the exact same or if the Carbon would even be able to benefit from adding the 9 pin. Hope that makes sense, if not, I’ll think of a way to re-ask it. Thank you
Michael, I should have made it clear that when using a Carbon with another transducer in the black sonar port, you would need the older 7 pin plug transducer for the blue sonar port. The only difference between the blue 7 pin plugs and the black "Xsonic" 9 pin plug is that the black plugs add a feature to automatically let your Carbon or LIVE program the correct sonar transducer in its settings. When using the 7-pin blue transducer you will have to manually enter in your sonar settings the transducer model PD-WBL. The black plugs do this automatically. If you are not planning to change out your Carbons in the near future then I would suggest installing the blue 7-pin transducer (PD-WBL).
Is there a setting that is best to get speed at high speed with that in hull? I don’t have much depth at 40 with that same one. It’s mounted good. I have a hds live 9. Any tips are appreciated
In most cases running your HDS on auto is all you need if the location and installation is correct. However you can get readings at higher speeds by increasing the ping speed to max. Also make sure you have the correct transducer model in the installation menu, which should be PD-WBL for the pod type shoot thru hull transducer in my video. Hope this helps you.
It would if you have a flat place to epoxy it with solid fiberglass only under the flat spot. Foam or wood sandwiched between fiberglass would not allow the signal to be transmitted through it.
Use duct seal instead of epoxy, you don't need a flat surface just enough duct seal to take up the space. It's cheap and effective! Lots of videos here on how to use duct seal for a through-hull transducer mount just search.
