DropShot Tip: Bet You Didn't Know This!
What a beautiful day on the lake!
How are you fishing that swim jig? Dragging it on the bottom? Or more of a hop?
@@pacificrocketry Dragging it on the bottom and occasional twitches.
@marcmarcantonio interesting. I'll have to give it a try. Any reason I never see you using tubes? I've had decent luck, especially with downsized tubes (<3")
@pacificrocketry Not particularly...I like tubes and do well with them when I do use them. I prefer using them in rivers where there is current.
Dang it Marc! Been skunked twice there this last week!
I hear you, it’s been tough out there. That is what keeps me coming back!
@ yes sir!
How fast you drifting
Just slow enough to keep the bait on the bottom.
Still looks kinda bulky....maybe why it is discontinued?
Although it appears bulky, it actually is compact for a full-size sturdy tool that is meant to last. The cable is heavy duty, and it would be difficult to make it more compact. I didn't know it was discontinued (I am not affiliated with AquaVu), but would guess more likely it was the price. For those that think of underwater cameras akin to toys or for only occasional use, it costs too much. For people like me who use it as a scientific instrument and wants it to be reliable, durable, and lasting, it is a bargain at the price it sold.
I like your video and appreciate your instruction very much. If that technically works for you or anyone for that matter, great. And not that you need to know my feelings on it, but I’m convinced to NOT learn it because of the convenience today regarding better made drags. Therefore I’m lazy, but thanks for a great demonstration 👍🏻🎣
You are right that today's premium reels have great drag systems; I use only the best drag systems. That being said all drag systems have to overcome inertia before they start slipping. That is all it may take for a trophy fish to break light line, or pull the hook out. While playing a big fish, everytime the drag stops slipping it takes inertia to start again. This will make no difference in playing most fish, but it makes a huge difference when fighting a big fish on light line or line that may have a nick in it or is worn, or the knot is getting weak. Every start and stop also increases the size of the hole made by the hook. Many IGFA World Records and line class records are owed to backreeling (including several of my own). Same with tournament wins. Of course most anglers don't hook trophy fish so are not likely to need the technique. The tough part is finding quality reels today with an anti-reverse lever; they are a weak point for fishing reels and most don't use them, so manufacturers are starting to build reels without them to lower costs and reel failures.
Thank you so much! Very helpful!
Glad you found it useful!
When you export them does it still leave them on the unit as well as copy them to the card?
Yes, they stay on the unit and the card.
@ thanks a lot
Very nice video. I can now fish "vicariously" with you!
@KellyGalvin Hope you can also fish in person with me again
@@marcmarcantonio I'd love that. I must try and work that into a plan where Sandy is not alone in my absence. Thanks!
Good stuff bud 👍🏻. Love catching smallies. If we could put the fight of the smallmouth in the ody of the largemouth we’d have the perfect bass hahaha!
@@corbinwadlow2044 So true!
No bites on your craw jig? I thought I was the only guy using Roboworms - I liked them for winter fishing in NC and Aaron's Magic has been a good color on American Lake
@@pacificrocketry I have been using them everywhere for years!
@@pacificrocketry No bites on that, but it will work other days.
@@marcmarcantonio yeah, I have decent luck with a Beast Coast jig head and a Damiki craw on Riffe, never had much luck at American with it
@@pacificrocketry The moss and weeds make fishing bottom lures difficult on American for sure.
Wow! I had no idea that you invented the tear drop style ds weight! That's awesome! I think the baitfish that was puked up with the silver scales may have been a juvenile kokanee.
@FishingThePNW i am also sure it was a juvenile Kokanie, or cutthroat.
@@FishingThePNW Yup, QuickDrops are the original and the best. I had to invent them in 1986 for my own tournament use.
Marc, good stuff. Not to be “that” guy, but there’s a lot of gear noise in that motor. I’ll be interested to see how it sounds when in the water. We try to get our trolling motors as quiet as possible. Has there been any footage of the system under the water?
It is a good question, and I will know more when I use it on the water soon. I can say that my GoPro camera makes the motor sound much louder than it actually does in person. I have noticed this in my other videos as well, that certain noises (like string trimmers and leaf blowers) sound like they are in my boat when I am 1000 feet away. It actually sounds quieter than all the other turrets I have fished with. Also the motor is well above the waterline, and noises above water do not travel below water unless they are low frequency. I require stealth in my fishing for smallmouth bass, especially in water as clear as I fish. If it spooks fish at all I will find out, but I doubt that will be the case. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Mark has already covered most of it and for sure microphones tend to magnify when there is little to no background noise. Our testers have not mentioned motor noise one time as an issue. Stan Stone has a video of his Garmin Force RS One on his youtube channel - "Stan Stone Fishing" that you can watch and listen for the motor.
@@marcmarcantonio thanks Marc, I always enjoy your content. Quick question I have a new boat with a hydraulic jackplate. The transducer is mounted on the starboard side of jp & while looking at side scan I get vertical lines on port side scan. The deeper I go the more vertical lines. I was told a hole shot plate would most likely cure this?
@@corbinwadlow2044 Yes, a hole shot plate will fix your problem. The lines are from your SideScan signal bouncing between the insides of the jackplate. A holeshot plate prevents the signal from getting inside your jackplate where it bounces around. A side benefit of the holeshot plate is that you get less prop wash when shutting down, and a slightly better hole shot when getting on plane.
@@marcmarcantonio thank you! I appreciate you & your knowledge with Lowrance products. I’ll be watching for your reviews on the water with this product.
I would like to know where you was able to purchase some of the silicone mat. I can’t seem to find any, thank you in advance.

Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice video Marc
Thanks for watching.
I appreciate the build of the revolution unit, highly thought out and top quality engineering/materials. Looking forward to the on the water review.
Thanks for watching, I will try to get the on-the-water review done soon.
Appreciate the guidance here, thanks. Any issue with doing the reset and programming changes while out of the water? It would be a lot simpler to program my console and bow unit (not networked) in the garage vs on the water.
No problem doing it in the garage or on the water, although you may not get a GPS fix in the garage. I do mine in my home while watching football.
I gave you a like because video is nice and detailed. As far as the revolution sonar I it maybe 2/10 because it looks like a weed catcher and certainly doesn’t abide by the KISS principle. Too many places it can bind up or break. Good luck with it
Stay tuned for my demonstration videos. My money is that this system will NOT bind due to on the water trials already specifically to test binding.
I will also note that my dual AT2 transducers are more compact and closer to the trolling motor shaft with the Revolution Sonar system compared to when they were mounted with the stock mounts. They will catch less weeds than the stock mounting, and the mounting is far stronger.
Does the travel strap from the Ghost still fit around the shaft & Velcro closed? Lots of stuff going on there now.
@@corbinwadlow2044 Yes!
@@RevolutionSonar how about my Mega 360? I run Lowrance HDS Pro 12’s at console & bow with AT2 (1 transducer) & Solix 12 at bow.
Great video Marc....thanks for showing us how it will arrive from Revolution Sonar.

I am looking forward to it myself. I talked to some people about the ramp at Russell Landing; hoping they get a fix for it.
@@marcmarcantonio American Lake Park isn't much better now. Down to one lane
Nice!
Hopefully will have it installed soon.
Marc, they should contract with you to control their water quality. BTW if my wife is well enough to travel, I'll get hold of you in May for the spring bite. Actually we should do a time when the fish get deeper so we can have a fish off with drop-shot vs doodling 🙂
@@btaylor1948 Let's do it!!
Great vid. How do you choose which spots to fish in your chosen depth range? Is there a reason you chose 30-35 feet that day? Thanks
At the end of the summer the majority of smallmouth bass are in that depth range. By color-coding my contour lines on my C-Map built-in chart, I can easily see where the preferred depth is located and can keep my casts in that zone. This not only saves time but also shows me (by color) where I need to be fishing. When searching that zone I am looking for a rocky bottom within that depth zone.
Hey Marc. I've noticed stock LIVE c-maps on Potholes shows no contour lines. Are you using a Navionics chip for lakes like that, and is there more than one option for Navionics? Thanks.
@CB4basser1 I do use a Navionics sometimes, but mostly map the lake myself with my Lowrance units, and C-Map Genesis. It is the only way to get an accurate map of Potholes.
What an absolute shit show. Their software guys need to go pack to picking melons ffs. User friendly? Not even close.
Thanks for your informative videos! I’m going out on American Lake the next three mornings. I’m hoping to apply what I have learned from you to find some success.
Good luck!
You are doing God's work my man. Consider myself fairly tech savvy and this stuff frustrates me like no other. THANK YOU
Glad to be of help! Fishing has been great to me, so glad to give something back!
If you hold the pages button (instead of zoom in and zoom out) and then hit power button until it beeps the unit will reset. The lowrance techs taught me this.
I will give this a try! Thank you!
Nice Lowrance Marc, I did a hard reset on my 27” Lowrance HDS monitor I have mounted on the bow. Now I never miss a Packers game and never miss a fish.

Hello, how do you get the s3d back on the graph if you accidentally change the settings? I have had techs try to reinstall, called Lowrance and I’m still confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
