As a witch whose been practicing for 23 years and who does Deity work, I respect your views on why you’re steering beginners away from this work but I disagree with tactics. If you tell someone they’re not experienced enough to do something, it’s going to drive them right to it. It would be far more well received to encourage beginner witches to fully research any entities they feel are connecting with them and the proper way to engage with that being. We should always be seeking to teach not turn away those honestly interested in the craft.

Hard agree. I know tiktok is short form and a hard pushback against a harmful trend is fairly reasonable, but it really is time to introduce more nuance. I was afraid of the deity reaching out to me when I was entering paganism and witchcraft because of these warnings, which wasn't helpful. As we push back against the belittling of deities by teenagers trend, we need to be more clear and precise in how we talk about worshipping and working with deities instead of an outright blockage of the conversation by the community.
A note about the “animals acting weirdly” part: there is currently an outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in the US and Canada. If a bird goes up to you and it seems docile, tired, or sickly, that is not a sign, that is HPAI and you need to back the hell away and call animal control. Keep track of animal diseases in your area and take that into consideration.

I'm having a sort of personal spiritual rebirth in myself. I became fixated on Persephone soon into my witchcraft journey and began worshipping her. Then I stopped, because of some really traumatic events. I was surrounded by addiction and abuse for 3 years. My family was falling apart and a groomer and addict, 8 and a half years older than me began a relationship with me when I was 16, about to turn 17. All of my spirituality, individuality, and boundaries were taken from me. It took 3 tries but I left. Then my sibling died. They passed away in August 2020 from an OD. Since then I've began meditating on Persephone's myth and how deeply I relate to it. I want to worship again. I have sort of agnostic leanings and I had originally stopped because I felt uncomfortable with a spiritual power dynamic. Even if I did feel her presence am I comfortable with that sort of relationship? No gods no masters sort of sentiment. But now things are different. I have this deep, personal, treacherous relationship with death and life's biggest traumas, and I want that to mean something on a cosmic scale. I want that to mean something on a divine scale. I want my pain and strength to mean something not just for my life, but for the world. And communicating with the divine means something to me, because when I see those signs, they've always come as an acknowledgement to my purpose, my meaning. And that's what I get out of deity worship and work.
I kinda of have a similar experience. My grandmother passed in 2016 and my best friend was murdered in 2019. Those two, aside from my husband, are the most important people in my life. They were most of my family, my husband being the only other one. I want so desperately to connect with their spirit or somehow know they are ok and connect with my spirituality more but i was Gnostic leaning toward atheist before this happened. I dont know what to do/think any more.

My grandma usually does it when she needs to find something at home. She ties a knot with a handkerchief and hides it under the bed and prays to Saint Cucuphas saying something like "Saint Cucuphas, these are your b*lls, until you don't help me find what I want I wont tie them off". For the part where you mentioned dissociative disorders: Alters become their own beings the moment they are split. They may have memories that match the God's myths, but as soon as they become an identity that can make choices, their interactions with other people and other alters, as well as everything that happens to them, they will cease to be an accurate representation of a deity and start being their own "person" even if they still identify as non-human and as that God's name.
Woah, this was extremely informative and I absolutely loved every moment of it!! I have recently been interested in working with Aphrodite and I’m so happy for the extra advice towards the end. I was so caught up on how to present offerings a certain way or to act a certain way. But, this definitely seems much more feasible and simpler than I initially thought. Perhaps it’s the fear of disappointing or angering Aphrodite is what triggers my anxiety of her not entirely accepting me.

When I started watching witchtok, I was inundated with the "deity work is not for beginners" message and became somewhat frightened of my deity, which only caused the frequency and intensity of her messages to increase, leading me to be more alarmed. This much more nuanced perspective helped me be more comfortable in interacting with her.

Just wanted to add something to your previous video about learning. You mentioning Harry Potter gave me the idea how to do it if you're a Potterhead like me: basically think of learning stuff as your Hogwarts homework, e.g. doing some tarot/divination for Prof. Trelawney, reading about herbs/plants for Prof. Sprout, potions/brews for Prof. Snape, doing astrology stuff for Prof. Sinistra, reading about some darker stuff for Prof. (insert your favourite DADA teacher's name here) etc., preferably with the HP soundtrack in your headphones or however you like your music. I tried it and it helped me a lot. 👍

Caution, logic, health, I have zero proof of anything. I have a difficult time trusting human interpretation of anything external. I am 50 and have been manipulated out of answering my calls from a very young age. Religious family. I have had some very positive and also some terrifying experiences, I appreciate both of your channels for what they are. I feel as if both of you are experiencing age appropriate knowledge and I trust you both understand that your feelings about your experiences will evolve over time. Listening to practitioners half my age has helped me immensely with filling in some gaps in the understanding I was denied access to in my 20's 30's and 40's. 1:09:08 it just reminded me of a phrase used here in Greece. So, when a couple wants to run away and marry without their parents' will they say "κλεφτήκαμε" which translates to "we stole ourselves" or something like "we stole each other".
This video is one of the most helpful I’ve seen and I haven’t even finished it yet. I’m still very much a baby witch, going on about 11.5-12 months now. All the research and videos I’ve seen have been pushing me closer to wanting to start deity work, but after finding Frankie’s channel, and especially this video, I definitely know that I want to wait and do so much more research and get to a point when I’m ready for it. I’m still very much in the broom closet, and am in a household that doesn’t allow candles. Overall this videos information is one of my favorites, because of the compilation and reasoning behind statements.

It was basically that if you ask a creature to show you it’s teeth, the teeth will be very telling as to what the thing is, like if the teeth match, if they’re rotting, etc. They aren’t COMPELLED to show you but you can ask.

I hate to be that person (and write an entire essay about stuff) but I'd really appreciate if someone more experienced in witchcraft or paganism could help me out a little. I live in a really secluded area in Ireland, everyone's Christian so I'm feeling a little lost. I'd appreciate any help or advice anyone might have. I've always seen energies and aura's (my mom does energy work) and I've dabbled in basic witchcraft for a while now A few nights ago I had a very weird dream. Hades' name was mentioned and I was looking for a crown to return to someone. The last part of the dream I was in this warm, bright room and I looked up to see Apollo stretched out on the couch. Being me, and in absolute awe and shock in his presence, I asked if I could draw him- he smiled and told me I could. I then woke up. After this event I dove into research of the messages, symbols and names in my dream. What could it all mean. I came to the conclusion that the crown I had found was in fact, Apollo's, as one of his symbols is the laurel crown- the exact one in my dream Since then the tarot card "the sun" keeps popping up in my readings (almost every time) and I'm getting these visuals of Apollo. He did end up really really liking the painting :) and I want to work with deities but don't know whether I should start or not? Help?
I would recommend that you have a mini-space dedicated to Apollo with pictures, etc., that they prefer. I also suggest that you look into the Orphic Hymns (there's one for Apollo, plus many other deities as well) as an avenue towards regular devotion. Read the myths associated with the deity, learn about the kinds of celebrations/festivals associated with them, etc.
I'm so happy you guys made this video. I'm definitely very inerested in dieties and diety work/worship and I've been doing as much research as I can, though I don't plan to try to start diety work at all anytime soon. And yesterday, two doves came to my front porch and just sat there in my pathway ALL MORNING. And the whole time i just kept telling myself " its not a sign it's not a sign" so i didn't think much of it and sat there just smiling and enjoying their company 😅
Im a kid (and a less experienced witch) but im trying to do deity work. I know what i have to research A LOT. (Im doing it) but i only have my deity because he decided to show himself now (its going good) and im currently trying to work with another. I know that its hard to do but i think im doing it right. i need to study for a test at the end of the year and was having difficulties including changing day and night because of quarentine, even though i cant study at night. I did a work and i think deity started weaking me up every day at early morning even though i dont want it. I am gratful but it suucks a lot. Even when i go to sleep at 5 am i am aweaking at 7 am it is like even on weekends now. I am graetful to have this strenght yet a huge part of me wants to sleep into 4 pm as usual

A few weeks ago I prayed and asked that COVID-19 cases in my area would go down so that I could go back to school, the next morning I woke up and my time table had been changed from online to in person haha.
We bought a house last year and for some reason a small pudgy bird would sleep in the corner of the porch every night so we got a couple bird houses and now there is a lot of birds 😂 squirrels seem to stare at me and follow me alot too. Thought it was weird but never thought it was a sign of anything. Also we had a bunch of rabbits living in our yard. I now feel like Snow White 😂😂

I haven't experienced this issue myself as I don't worship or work with deities right now, but from what I've seen from others it seems to be okay. Most people seem to say that as long as you do your best to give them the best offerings you have, then you should be fine. You can always double-check with your deity using tarot or pendulum or whatever your established mode of communication is 😊

I don't necessarily think that every reliable information comes from historic/very academic resources, simply because neopaganism, modern interpretations, etc. exist - obviously tumblr is generally unreliable but if they can give logical explainations to their theory that aligns with other people's experience of a deity, I think it can be a usable source
Basically as long as the "source" is reality based, I think it can at least partially be useful, but obviously double checking with elder witches/pagans can never hurt
In my opinion, people are often not good at distinguishing their interpretations of their experiences from the experiences themselves. Simply because one experiences something unusual...doesn't imply anything in itself about who is involved (if at all). Experiences, to me, are just so. I can interpret them in multiple ways with varying consequences that I can explore intelligently. Still, though, claiming certainty over how an experience is to be interpreted is very unwise and can harm people.
Would worshiping a deity/ deities be ok without a lot of experience. I have no intentions of working with deities at the moment because i don't have that kind of confidence but i would like to worship one specifically. I've researched her and what could be offered to her. Would that be ok? Just offerings and praying to her? (My magical space is protected and cleansed routinely).
Worship is totally fine for novices! Think of it this way: children are encouraged to pray to and worship Jesus and God. Why should we be any different with our gods?

birds wont stop running into my windows, my dog keeps barking at my bedroom when no one is in there, i was having kinda night terrors or i was seeing a sertain person in between dream and sleep, i go a sleep mask so i couldnt see things if i woke up, and then i started hearing voices now and knocking on my door, somtimes there is one in front of me and somone knocking behind me. and so i started cleansing my room every night and the knocking stopped but the talking did not. ive also been having dreams about snow and birds like chickens and owls and tit mice in my dreams and rain has started happening when ever i ask abt it lol, who is this lol she has the voice of a old lady or a young lady at first i thaught it was my grandmas voice but now im starting to hear the difference like....and they sound like nonsence words to like " hey lo go clean up the mess down stairs" and i layed there for 30 minutes thinking " we dont have a down stairs" and another time it was just a " lo?" or " hey" and the most reasent one was " did you ask me somthing, what did you say?" and i was like " its 2:33 am i wanna sleep and ya i did....5 hours ago lol

Just a heads up because I saw another commenter mentioning being otherkin (the state of identifying as nonhuman) is tied to mental illness or being used as a coping mechanism. Identifying as nonhuman is not considered a mental disorder. You may be diagnosed with dysphoria however. Within the otherkin community a strong distinction is made between those who take on an identity to cope and those who do not choose their identity. Of course there are people who may develop a nonhuman identity through trauma, but the vast majority of otherkin do not. People who choose their identity or do so specifically to cope are not considered otherkin. Yes, god shards may be frequently tied to otherkin on tunblr. The majority of the community's history, however, is not on tumblr and otherkin as a concept developed strictly outside it. What's on tumblr is sort of considered a bastardization/appropriation of the experience (omg I kin x! I'm such a kinnie! Etc).

The only thing I have come across that would sort of explain god shards would be in Yoruba cosmology. I am NOT a initiate so I may be way off but to my understanding everything being source everything is a fractal of that energy so as the energy splits off lower and lesser i suppose you would stem or originate more from one aspect of energy or "god source" but that does not mean that you ARE that god as is.

You mentioning Harry Potter gave me the idea how to do it if you're a Potterhead like me: basically think of learning stuff as your Hogwarts homework, e.g. doing some tarot/divination for Prof. Trelawney, reading about herbs/plants for Prof. Sprout, potions/brews for Prof. Snape, doing astrology stuff for Prof. Sinistra, reading about some darker stuff for Prof. (insert your favourite DADA teacher's name here) etc., preferably with the HP soundtrack in your headphones or however you like your music. I tried it and it helped me a lot. 👍

Caution, logic, health, I have zero proof of anything. I have a difficult time trusting human interpretation of anything external. I am 50 and have been manipulated out of answering my calls from a very young age. Religious family. I have had some very positive and also some terrifying experiences, I appreciate both of your channels for what they are. I feel as if both of you are experiencing age appropriate knowledge and I trust you both understand that your feelings about your experiences will evolve over time. Listening to practitioners half my age has helped me immensely with filling in some gaps in the understanding I was denied access to in my 20's 30's and 40's. This video is one of the most helpful I’ve seen and I haven’t even finished it yet. I’m still very much a baby witch, going on about 11.5-12 months now. All the research and videos I’ve seen have been pushing me closer to wanting to start deity work, but after finding Frankie’s channel, and especially this video, I definitely know that I want to wait and do so much more research and get to a point when I’m ready for it. I’m still very much in the broom closet, and am in a household that doesn’t allow candles. Overall this videos information is one of my favorites, because of the compilation and reasoning behind statements.
I know this isn't the theme of the video, but I noticed Frankie mentioning you shared something with her where it seems like mediums have a shared experience with teeth and was curious to learn more? I understand if that isn't something that wants to be shared.
It was basically that if you ask a creature to show you it’s teeth, the teeth will be very telling as to what the thing is, like if the teeth match, if they’re rotting, etc. They aren’t COMPELLED to show you but you can ask.

A few nights ago I had a very weird dream. Hades' name was mentioned and I was looking for a crown to return to someone.
The last part of the dream I was in this warm, bright room and I looked up to see Apollo stretched out on the couch.
Being me, and in absolute awe and shock in his presence, I asked if I could draw him- he smiled and told me I could. I then woke up.
After this event I dove into research of the messages, symbols and names in my dream. What could it all mean. I came to the conclusion that the crown I had found was in fact, Apollo's, as one of his symbols is the laurel crown- the exact one in my dream
Since then the tarot card "the sun" keeps popping up in my readings (almost every time) and I'm getting these visuals of Apollo.
He did end up really really liking the painting :) and I want to work with deities but don't know whether I should start or not? Help?
I would recommend that you have a mini-space dedicated to Apollo with pictures, etc., that they prefer. I also suggest that you look into the Orphic Hymns (there's one for Apollo, plus many other deities as well) as an avenue towards regular devotion. Read the myths associated with the deity, learn about the kinds of celebrations/festivals associated with them, etc.
I'm so happy you guys made this video. I'm definitely very inerested in dieties and diety work/worship and I've been doing as much research as I can, though I don't plan to try to start diety work at all anytime soon. And yesterday, two doves came to my front porch and just sat there in my pathway ALL MORNING. And the whole time i just kept telling myself " its not a sign it's not a sign" so i didn't think much of it and sat there just smiling and enjoying their company 😅

Im a kid (and a less experienced witch) but im trying to do deity work. I know what i have to research A LOT. (Im doing it) but i only have my deity because he decided to show himself now (its going good) and im currently trying to work with another. I know that its hard to do but i think im doing it right. Thankfully i have someone to help mentor me. I honestly got so grossed out when i heard about CHILDREN saying they have a relationship with their god/goddess. i need to study for a test at the end of the year and was having difficulties including changing day and night because of quarentine, even though i cant study at night. I did a work and i think deity started weaking me up every day at early morning even though i dont want it. I am gratful but it suucks a lot. Even when i go to sleep at 5 am i am aweaking at 7 am it is like even on weekends now. I am graetful to have this strenght yet a huge part of me wants to sleep into 4 pm as usual

We bought a house last year and for some reason a small pudgy bird would sleep in the corner of the porch every night so we got a couple bird houses and now there is a lot of birds 😂 squirrels seem to stare at me and follow me alot too. I haven't experienced this issue myself as I don't worship or work with deities right now, but from what I've seen from others it seems to be okay. Most people seem to say that as long as you do your best to give them the best offerings you have, then you should be fine. You can always double-check with your deity using tarot or pendulum or whatever your established mode of communication is 😊

I don't necessarily think that every reliable information comes from historic/very academic resources, simply because neopaganism, modern interpretations, etc. exist - obviously tumblr is generally unreliable but if they can give logical explainations to their theory that aligns with other people's experience of a deity, I think it can be a usable source
Basically as long as the "source" is reality based, I think it can at least partially be useful, but obviously double checking with elder witches/pagans can never hurt

In my opinion, people are often not good at distinguishing their interpretations of their experiences from the experiences themselves. Simply because one experiences something unusual...doesn't imply anything in itself about who is involved (if at all). Experiences, to me, are just so. I can interpret them in multiple ways with varying consequences that I can explore intelligently. Still, though, claiming certainty over how an experience is to be interpreted is very unwise and can harm people.
Would worshiping a deity/ deities be ok without a lot of experience. I have no intentions of working with deities at the moment because i don't have that kind of confidence but i would like to worship one specifically. I've researched her and what could be offered to her. Would that be ok? Just offerings and praying to her? (My magical space is protected and cleansed routinely).
Worship is totally fine for novices! Think of it this way: children are encouraged to pray to and worship Jesus and God. Why should we be any different with our gods?

birds wont stop running into my windows, my dog keeps barking at my bedroom when no one is in there, i was having kinda night terrors or i was seeing a sertain person in between dream and sleep, i go a sleep mask so i couldnt see things if i woke up, and then i started hearing voices now and knocking on my door, somtimes there is one in front of me and somone knocking behind me. and so i started cleansing my room every night and the knocking stopped but the talking did not. ive also been having dreams about snow and birds like chickens and owls and tit mice in my dreams and rain has started happening when ever i ask abt it lol, who is this lol she has the voice of a old lady or a young lady at first i thaught it was my grandmas voice but now im starting to hear the difference like....and they sound like nonsence words to like " hey lo go clean up the mess down stairs" and i layed there for 30 minutes thinking " we dont have a down stairs" and another time it was just a " lo?" or " hey" and the most reasent one was " did you ask me somthing, what did you say?" and i was like " its 2:33 am i wanna sleep and ya i did....5 hours ago lol

Basically if you ask a spirit to show you its teeth, that is an indication of what they are.
Never create the relationship between them and you. That's why I traped them in others because it's timeline.
Just a heads up because I saw another commenter mentioning being otherkin (the state of identifying as nonhuman) is tied to mental illness or being used as a coping mechanism. Identifying as nonhuman is not considered a mental disorder. You may be diagnosed with dysphoria however. Within the otherkin community a strong distinction is made between those who take on an identity to cope and those who do not choose their identity. Of course there are people who may develop a nonhuman identity through trauma, but the vast majority of otherkin do not. People who choose their identity or do so specifically to cope are not considered otherkin. Yes, god shards may be frequently tied to otherkin on tunblr. The majority of the community's history, however, is not on tumblr and otherkin as a concept developed strictly outside it. What's on tumblr is sort of considered a bastardization/appropriation of the experience (omg I kin x! I'm such a kinnie! Etc).
The only thing about moon and humans I've heard of is moon cycle correlations to a period cycle.

The only thing I have come across that would sort of explain god shards would be in Yoruba cosmology. I am NOT a initiate so I may be way off but to my understanding everything being source everything is a fractal of that energy so as the energy splits off lower and lesser i suppose you would stem or originate more from one aspect of energy or "god source" but that does not mean that you ARE that god as is.
