For me, that SS86 Bee is the ULTIMATE "G1" Bumblebee. The bot is perfect with minimum kibble. Plus the car is just adorkable. The Netflix have a perfect car mode, but the bot is horrible. He's 90% square chest. The SS86 have way better proportions.
Personally I have no complaints about him. I like what they did this time. Plus we can get more great remolds and repaints. it's funny how WFC bee is a remold of the Earthrise Cliffjumper mold, and now Bee is going to be the base for other figures. I'm with it!!!
For my collection, it’s a substantial upgrade. It’s not even close between that, and all my other G1 Bee’s. However I don’t have any other G1 based Bumblebees, so take that with a grain of salt.
I love how in-depth you go in your comparisons and opinions about this figure! And you make really good logical points that i can agree with, and i love that you go through the different figures throughout the franchises history. Great video and PHENOMINAL collection, dude! 👌
I like the 86 Bee a lot more than the Netflix version. The square chest/car roof on 86 does suck (but maybe they designed that to be easy to swap at the factory if they want a licensed VW design). But having the chibi/penny racer proportions and no partsforming and correct yellow and autobot symbol on the chest all make 86 Bee a huge improvement on Netflix Bee,
*Calling it now:* It's long been Hasbro's practice to give us a Good yet, strangely flawed figure. Then once everyone buys it, give us the version of the figure they know we'll REALLY want instead. Compelling fans everywhere to double-dip, back-to-back on the SAME character. This guy fits the bill perfectly. A pretty good yet.... suspiciously flawed figure. There's no way this is somehow "the best" Hasbro could do at this moment either.
I'm really glad they did the chibi style personally, it matches both the animation and the original toy better, but it would be nice if they could release both
I absolutely ADORE how this looks. Weirdly enough, my minds eye version of bumblebee DOESN'T actually turn into a Volkswagen Beetle, but instead an almost chibi-fied AE86. Yes, I know it's absolute heresy, but Volkswagen beetles from back then have a LOT Of issues, And I think the yellow AE86 not only looks cool, but also fits his personality pretty well!
I personally think its a downgrade from the netflix version. the only good thing about it is the yellow color. If it had blue windows, white face, and dark gray arms/legs I would be a lot more into it
The top is wrong, in my opinion. If it were rounded, I'd be fine with the black windows, because I'm going to use reprolabels on him anyway. That said, his transformation looks much, much better than Netflix Bee, because you're not flipping his chest upside down this time. That's not how BB is supposed to transform.
For me it´s really simple. I absolutely despise the use of partsforming in Earthrise. Both in the Cliffjumper mold and Ironhide´s mold they just shamelessly ask you to remove half of the vehicle mode to transform them and that will never sit right with me. I would have like the altmode to be more accurate to the cartoon, but in my eyes that's not as big of a problem as the partsforming is + The peny racer homage still comes through and the bot mode looks better anyway
I think they should have rounded out the feet/ car front a bit more and maybe that would fix the squared off proportions or at least make them less obvious
Yea if you ask me. This mould is good for Bumblebee. But in terms of design, I think the Legends Class Titan's Return Bumblebee has it beat. In fact, if they did the T.R Bee design in the SS86 Bee mould. PRIMUS THANK YOU!
No it is a downgrade in every respect. For a line that is all about G1 cartoon accuracy they fumbled hard with Bumblebee. Netflix Bee is literally the MP figure downsized and reduced in price. That is as cartoon accurate as it gets.
This bumblebee looks like he needs to go on a diet in robot mode. Too fat for cartoon accuracy. Car mode he looks like the toy version. They could've done better than this.

I agree. They might wait a year or so, but I'm sure a more accurate version is already in the pipeline.
I think they should have just redone the Netflix but in the proper yellow and added the piece that upgrade companies did to attach the back

Yeah, that was another good mold. An updated vehicle mold that's not selling itself to be G1 accurate and also has a decent head sculpt as well.
