Okay. You have inspired us. Our fall project is to repair the front wall in our 2009 trailer and do some redecorating to get our little home ready for the spring and summer of2023. Thank you for the tutorial. As retired health care providers, we hope your traveling PT was or is (which ever the case) rewarding and successful!
Ok at 9:47. I had a similar problem. But not window, it was above the slider frame. What did u place between the wall and ceiling? Factory had a rubber T seal strip.. i cant find them. U would know where to find that?. Thanks
Do you know how replace the rubber glide that the rv window slides in between? My rubber seal for the sliding window channel needs replacing. That's for the great info.
I'm currently trying to remove my rotten wall, but keep the foam insulation just as you did. Was getting the wood off of the foam tedious for you? It's proving to be very tedious for me. Do you have any tips to make it easier?
Hello! We used a generic paneling we got at home depot. I can't remember the exact name, but it was about 3-4 mm thick. We also used some underlayment board to replace the paneling. The underlayment board is 5mm thick which was a bit thicker than we needed in some areas but stronger. Hope this helps!
So did you get all the old paneling entirely off? I’m in the middle of this on mine and the part where the paneling and the styrofoam meet doesn’t seem to want to come off the styrofoam. Or did you just get as much off and spray the mold killer on it and put new paneling?
We tried to get off as much of the paneling as we could. Did not get it all. Then paneled over it after killing the mold. Hope that helps! And good luck! Tearing down the old panel is not a fun process!
@@RyanMegan and yeah it’s not fun lol currently in the bathroom and then going to do the bedroom both have mold. It’s pretty simple and just a pain lol
Oh yes! We had old caulking on the edge of our roof that we cleaned up and recaulked. Yes you don't want to fix the cosmetic damage but not fix the leak.
It's hard to perform a Reno without tools. We used Ryobi battery operated tool during the Reno because we didn't always have electricity. Link to our tools is in the video description! If you can't get tool then look to borrow or rent tools from the local hardware store! Good luck!
Hi, great job and video. Just a little critique... I wish you explained everything you were doing more. As someone who needs to repair my walls and window leaks it would have been helpful to know exactly what you where doing each step. i.e when you took the window out you were doing something to the hole in the trailer, wish I knew what that was... Informative video tho! Thanks
He popped the window out then cleaned all the caulking off. You want your new seal to be clean of any and all debris. I would recommend not using clear silicone caulking or any silicon. Use something like weathermax all weather caulking. Use gloves and before you rub the bead see what the clean up chemical is and dip your finger in that before rubbing the bead. If your finger gets some sticky on it clean it off and keep dipping your finger to keep it from sticking to u.
Thankyou this was so helpful Am Lost & I like you showed step by step keep that in mind making future vids Am New to all of this so something simple to you is not to us newbies so nothing is ever to simple to show thanks so much Am So Scared & Lost So Can’t Wait for new vids ! 😁🚌
I hope you realized the leak is from the roof not the window? I have the same problem, thought I could get some insite on doing the replacement of the wall, but skipped the removal info
Great video. When you peeled the paneling for strong the windows what was behind? styrofoam? Did you only use a painters knife to pull it off? I’m having a lot of problems pulling mine of the wet walls!
I am getting ready to do what you did for your MH. Ours is a 04 Fleetwood Bounder. The seller told me that they repaired the 4 years ago, now leak. I think we are going to do the same window & wall that you did. Anyway, do you have a list of what you used for your project. I see you used a panel. Did you consider plane laun? Was it the thickness to match the original thickness? I appreciate any information you can give me.
Can you tell me about the panel that you used? How thick was the panel? Was it very close to the thickness of the original panel? We are replacing about half of the wall. So, I am concerned that the replaced panel will not match. Is your panel wood or hardboard?
We used paneling from home depot that was thinner than typical 5mm layment board for the back bedroom. This matched up pretty well! Now we used 5mm underlayment board in the livingroom and that didn't quite match perfectly. It was too thick. But it all depends on how well you can get the old paneling removed from your RV walls. Hope that helps!
Thanks.... I am going out there... I am going to use the 5MM. In removing the wall, I took off a little of the insulation. I am going to sand the insulation using 40 grit sandpaper, just enough to fit the 5MM luan to the existing wall. One more question. How happy are you of the spray glue?
It took us about 1 month to replace the old rotten and moldy walls , but we were also finishing graduate school. So we worked mostly on the weekends and not every weekend. Overall, our full RV reno took about 4-6 months. Totally can be completed sooner than the time we took!
I need a tutorial on how to fix the camper at the back end we've the rivets connect the back panel with the side panel. Its bulging at the bottom left of the exterior camper shell. It's not too bad... but dono where to start.

I need to replace a soft interior wall under a leaking window and your video hit the spot. Thank you and enjoy your travels!

Hi what type of board did you use to replace it thank you
Awesome video!
Glad it helped!
Thank you for the video, did put the new panel on over any of the good old panel? I could see the white styrofoam and the dark looks like old panel.
What type of wood panel did you use?
Just the plain wood paneling from homedepot. Not sure of the name.
Do you know how replace the rubber glide that the rv window slides in between? My rubber seal for the sliding window channel needs replacing. That's for the great info.
No, we haven't changed ours - though, they do need replacing as well! Good luck :)

How do you find the correct wall paper? Can you put on a video outing on the wall paper also?
We actually ended up painting all our RV walls in another video! Check it out!
I’m so impressed!!!
More to come!
Did you remove the rotted wood or just peel the paper off? I think I missed that part.
Remove the rotten wood!
You made this look easy.
Haha thanks!
What did you use for adhesive or fasteners to attach the new panel where there was foam!
We used spray adhesive and liquid nail 👍🏻
What kind of paneling did you use? We have a couple pieces that need to be replaced in our camper

@@RyanMegan Thanks, but I mean...is it particle board? Vinyl? Or what material?
Ah! Yes! It was particle board! I've also found that underlayment board works well.
Very helpful!
Thank you 😊
I like the 🤠 hat!
Why did you decide to leave the moldy wood boards? Weird. 😢
So did you get all the old paneling entirely off? I’m in the middle of this on mine and the part where the paneling and the styrofoam meet doesn’t seem to want to come off the styrofoam. Or did you just get as much off and spray the mold killer on it and put new paneling?

@@RyanMegan thank you for the reply! Yes does help! I just didn’t want to dig too much into the styrofoam to try and get off all the paneling.

Did you replace the luan or just cover it with panels?
We just covered it with the panels :)
Hello from Puerto Rico good job. I'm fist time renovating an old RV a lot of Work an no electricity or tools. Advise?

it looked like maybe was scraping off all the old stuff and wiping off so new will seal better, not sure though.

What did you cut the old wall out with?
An box knife and a painters knife.

Exactly. Roof is leaking.
Great video. When you peeled the paneling for strong the windows what was behind? styrofoam? Did you only use a painters knife to pull it off? I’m having a lot of problems pulling mine of the wet walls!
He said it was Styrofoam insulation, and it looks like a painters knife.

Sounds like a solid plan! The spray glue was okay, but I used liquid nail in the living room and have been much happier with that.
called in dad
You know it! He helped us so much throughout the process! Couldn't be more thankful! 🙏
Water dose not run up hill
The bass in the songs you used vibrated everything haha but I love it
Haha yeah! We were pretty new to video and audio editing then! Heck we still struggle with it some! Lol 😋
@@RyanMegan Is there a dehumidifier or a air purifier that you would recommend to get rid of most of the potential mold lingerings in the air?
I think safety is failed because cameraman not using mask or glasses
Please leave music out it is loud. We want to hear you not music. It's annoying. Other than that love the video.
Get rid of that dammed music. Irritates that hell out of me
you are gonna wish you never bought this turd...
So about how long did it take you to do all of it. We are full time rvers and looking into a new one but it has 10 feet of wall that needs replaced
