      That would be the coolest thing ever. Bonzo and Ward are the foundation for all things awesome about heavy music. Period. 💯 👌🏾 So much power but, so much finesse. We wouldn't have Dave Grohl or Jimmy Chamberlain (2 of my generation's heaviest hitters who also have a certain amount of finesse) without them.

    Never in a million years while I was growing up in the 70s terrifying my parents with Black Sabbath would I have imagined them all to be so gentle and soft spoken. Well, I suppose Ozzy can be a bit of a clown at times, but for the most part they come across as amazing humble gentlemen.

    According to Tony Iommi’s book, Bonham broke some of Ward’s drums when he played his kit and Ward never let him sit at his kits again 😂

    I had the great experience of being in the studio while Black Sabbath were recording Technical Ecstasy. Bill Ward was very humble & treated everyone with the utmost respect. Here shared so much about John Bonham & his white Slingerland drum kit that was setup for recording in the studio in Miami. Not one day passes where I do not play Master of Reality to hear Bills Iconic off beat snare timing.

    Watch the first reunion Sabbath did - ever. In Orange County, when Sabbath with Halford on vocals opened for Ozzy's "No More Tours" 'final show. They came out and did 4 songs, with Bill on Randy Castillo's kit. He played the kit SO much better than Randy did (RIP: a fine drummer too) and his timing and power is impeccable. Yeah, he may give the best speech ever on being a super cool decent respectful and whatever musician and have the absolute best perspective on caring for and nurturing all the kids coming up now - but - he will NEVER live down those red tights he was wearing on the cover of Sabotage. I'm SCARRED from that, Bill. S C A R R E D! I have irreparable damage deep within my psyche from those tights. I wake up at night in a cold sweat because of those. The doctors say there's nothing that can be done about it, I'm damaged goods and it's all because of those tights :'(

      Carmine was a good friend of John's and deserves a fair amount of credit not just for his own great playing with the fudge, but for influencing bonzo's ludwig deal and getting zep to the USA in the first place. Learn the history before you talk shit about people, dude.

  • @MatChew75
    @MatChew75 2 года назад

    Give me Bill was better on a single bass drum then double I wish you would have just stuck with that his whole career I'm not taking anything away from him he's one of my biggest influences of all the time when it comes to drumming easily especially with Sabbath Bloody Sabbath sabotage technical ecstasy Never say die in heaven and hell. He was one of those first drummers that really opened my eyes up to the potential of me being a drummer and two other guys I can think of early on before I really got into the absolute Geniuses of drumming like Neil Peart Bill bruford Billy Cobham Terry Bozzio Vinnie colaiuta Steve gadd Chad wackerman Tony Williams Chester Thompson and Peter Erskine. Of course guys that really influence me through my early adult years like Danny Carey Tim Alexander John stainer Charlie benante Dave Lombardo Abe Cunningham. Then you go all the way back to guys that started it all like art Blakely Louie bellson Gene Krupa Buddy Rich and Max Roach. I always thought John Bonham was a genius I just never really got into Led Zeppelin like I did other bands like The Who and Keith Moon. But there were times where I really focused on his drumming like House of the Holy and Physical Graffiti the drumming on this two albums just mind-boggling. In through the outdoor presence and Coda were great albums too. I absolutely love the presence. But Bill Ward was an absolute beast on the drum set a good example is Black Sabbath live at Asbury Park 1975 that drum solo that he does on there along with that bass solo is one of the baddest things you will ever hear. It wasn't so much Bill Ward it was Bill Ward and Geezer Butler the Rhythm Section they were I mean there wasn't a batter Rhythm Section and rock and roll than those two. Of course Getty Lee and Neil Peart, Ginger Baker Jack Bruce, Greg Lake Carl Palmer, Chris Squire Alan White Billy Cobham Alphonso Johnson, Wilbur Bascomb Narada Michael Walden, Lenny white Stanley Clarke, Victor Wooten Method Man, Terry Bozzio Patrick O'Hearn, Tom Fowler Chester Thompson / Peter Humphrey, Vinnie colaiuta Arthur Barrow, Scott thunes and Chad wackerman, Phil Collins Mike Rutherford John Paul Jones John Bonham, Bootsy Collins Dennis Chamberlain, Rudy Sarzo and Tommy Aldridge and John Entwistle Keith Moon. Just a whole host of Rhythm sections that were Incredible 2 music. I guess I can just keep going into the 90s Steve Di Giorgio Gene Hoglan, Trevor Dunn Dave Lombardo, John Stainer Henry Bogdan, Les Claypool Tim Alexander and Danny Carey Justin Chancellor, Robert Trujillo and Josh Freese(ST) and the best Rhythm Section of the '90s Michael "fluff" Borden and Billy Gould
