I'm sorry what Conan said about you guys being a little old for Tots. If you lose a hero like Larry as a mere Toddler, no wonder you all aged like five to ten years in five minutes! No one should have gone through what you did. And one more thing, the tootin was beautiful and exactly what America needed in that dark time.
Brian stack is truly a comedy great. There's just something so fulfilling about getting to know a lil bit from the writers' side after all these years with conan and andy there
11:28 Andy so eloquently summarizes what has made Conan’s show so great and unique from the very beginning. “It’s us calling out to those other weirdos, who know that they’re different.” You really do feel that connection with the show and it’s people. You relate to that humor because it speaks to you personally, in the same way your favorite band or musician does. There’s a thunderous moment where you come to the realization that there are actually other people out there who think and feel the same way you do. There are actually other people who share your absurd, surreal sense of humor, your way of coping with the realities of existence. There are other people out there who are just as crazy as you are. And suddenly, you feel less alone. You feel less insane. You feel a genuine connection to these complete strangers, because they are creating art that almost feels like it was made just for you. Conan’s show was so much more than just a late-night talk show. It truly transcended that to become something else entirely. Conan O’Brien and his companions have changed the lives and lifted the spirits of millions of people all over the world. I suffer from pretty intense depression, and have unfortunately experienced the more severe complications that arise from having this illness. Watching Conan’s show has truly helped to carry me through some of the darkest moments of my life. I will be forever grateful to this man and his associates for bringing such light and joy to my life.
This comment reminded me of another comment comparing Conan and Fallon and it actually pairs with this very well. "Fallon is the nerd trying to make the jocks laugh, while Conan is a nerd that's making the other nerds laugh" Essentially, instead of switching your humour entirely to appeal to a target audience, just make do with your existing humour and eventually, the "nerds" will come to you. It's honestly brilliant.
I wish you the very best. Maybe you would be interested on MadTV, Aunty Donna or The Whitest Kids You Know. Same kind of weird comedy with many RUclips videos.
Andy really put the appeal of Conan's humor very eloquently. Because for those of us who were young when we started Conan back when he was in New York, there was an almost feeling of "community." Conan and his team really made it feel OK to be a weirdo and have a weird sense of humor. And, like Dan said, which I thought was really sweet, that's what made some of us want to get into entertainment or writing, is that feeling that there's a place for us weirdos to be weird.
I love those kind of sketches where one person (in this one being Conan) is the voice of reason or sense while everyone else is all of the same mindset of this crazy reality that just keeps getting weirder and weirder
I love these Behind the Nonsense videos! Thank you Team Coco, and Conan and Andy and everyone featured in them, for doing this all for us after so long. You are all so appreciated, I know you won't read this but, just have to put it out in to the world
I love this. I've never seen this "Behind the Nonsense" series before, but as a Conan fan and a fan of comedy generally, I really enjoy hearing the story behind the sketch. And this is what makes Conan and Andy (and everyone they work with) special, their appreciation for the "rules" of comedy. Conan's right, him playing the straight man (à la Bud Abbott of Abbott & Costello) created so much space for great, great comedy. It's not that Conan and the gang were ever bound by the rules of comedy, it's that they understood when either breaking them or following them would make for good comedy. A lot of other hosts today seem to not have any interest in this sort of thing and, as a result, their shows just aren't as funny. That's not to say that they're never funny, but their stuff just isn't on the same level as Team Coco. This is why a guy like Mel Brooks is a fan of Conan and the gang. That man knows funny. And by the way, I'd never seen this mug gluing sketch before... holy moly, hilarious.
12:06 "That sketch is the definition of not for everyone. But it is exactly us." Compare that to Jay Leno saying he purposefully wrote material “to appeal to everybody” and you understand why the _Tonight Show_ audience were stuck with him and Fallon instead of Conan.
See this is my problem with the r&d @ conaco. Obviously Larry has worked there before and faked his death. Also Helen is probably involved. Also also Conan trying to tell his stories is like Seth Meyers and his tree frogs 🐸 😆🤣
This is why Conan and his show is such a great show, it was super creative and they would do what they want! Not trying to be a cliche but making their own mark and own brand rather than being a basic talk show format. Conan one of the GOAT!
Even for conan sketch, this goes waaaaayyyy farther than anything else I wish i could see keith urban watching this on the monitor before having to walk out and somehow follow this
Super cool! It’s interesting to see what was going on in the writers’ minds. Funny as hell. It’s nice that Conan sheds some light on and brings attention to the writers. He wrote for SNL and The Simpsons!
"Cash or cheque" - Brain Stack is the GOAT. For me, I knew I was one of Conan's tribe with the Gaseous Weiner. I'm from Europe. I don't even know what a Weiner is, but I laughed so hard after coming home at midnight after a long day's work and accounting lectures till 10pm.
It's so hard to get a skit based on being too long to work. Even though it all seems to stupid there's some genuine thought behind the premise and pacing of it all. Conan really surrounded himself with the best.
I was one of those weirdos at 12 years old when I first saw late night and said "wait a minute, theres actually other people like me and they're putting stuff like this on national television"
I'd like to express my utmost appreciation to Conan and Andy, who is also quick-wittedly funny like Conan, including his dedicated staff & gifted team of writers, who have the same sick sense of humour as I do, for this sketch & all of the other hilarious ones! It's why I love how never-endingly long this sketch is & all of the unexpectedness that played into the length of this sketch. 😂😁😜🤪🤣
I work for an event company and we are SO MUCH a group of weirdos who make weirdo things for other weirdos. I've never heard that put into words better than Andy Richter did!
Been watching and laughin along so loud all these years! Thank you Brian Stack Conan And Andy and everyone else!! You are my favourites of all time, and you will forever be in my heart 💖 you weirdos🤣
This is my absolute favorite Conan sketch of all time. 😂 I’m a screenwriter and I would have LOVED to have been in the writers’ room for this. 😂😂😂 I would have absolutely died laughing the whole time. I just wish they added more to the very beginning when Larry went offstage to glue the mug. I would have added a giant choir singing “Hallelujah”, animal noises, maybe a sound byte from “I Love Lucy” or something, etc. 😂
From 🇵🇰 Conan laughing makes me gleeful, ive been enjoying Conan for 17 years now. My parents never understood why but I'd everyday I'd watch Conan O'Brien. Your weird bits are the real content we real weird ppl enjoy. Love you and your crew Conan, With love from PAKISTAN
I remember David Letterman having a bit on things being run over with a steam roller. On of the item’s was a piece of paper. Conan learned a lot watching Letterman.
Hahaha by god this skit is just the best. I think i shat myself a little when the tribute video players started jamming out in honor of Larry... Greatest glue-mug-guy there ever was.
Brilliance. The writers who wrote that sketch look less like comedy writers than any comedy writer I've ever seen. And they look similar. I thought the guy sitting next to Conan was the other guy at first.
As soon as Brian Stack walked out i started belting out "Larry! Larry! Where did you go-o? Larry! Larry! Our hearts are sinking low!" at the top of my lungs. It's 2 AM here so I'm sure my apartment neighbor really appreciated it.
I had a dream last night part of which I watched a nonexistent Late Night sketch featuring Brian Stack. It was not nearly good of an insane fever dream as this. I don't know if it's a premonition or a coincidence or whatever, but this is great.
I remember seeing that Mug sketch when it aired and I was laughing so hard! It just kept going more and more off the rails and was unexpectedly long to boot which was hilarious in itself!
I was one of the Tots. And man...I tooted so hard for Larry that day. RIP sweet prince.
I'm sorry what Conan said about you guys being a little old for Tots. If you lose a hero like Larry as a mere Toddler, no wonder you all aged like five to ten years in five minutes!

He’s talented for sure, which just makes you wonder what they’ve got him doing at the Colbert show considering the quality of comedy over there.
@@nycdiesel805 it was a family decision. He wanted to live in New York.
He didn't write this one, tho. It was Andre and Nick.

Caught me off guard too
I just love it how Dan looks so proud while watching this sketch! Pure love how he looks at brian stack haha
It's kind of reassuring and almost calming to see Conan belly-laugh in these trying times (now that he's got a gut).
It just reassures me that I'm not insane for enjoying it 🤷♂️
At this point, Im only living another day to see Conan's behind the nonsense videos

I really really love this behind the nonsense series gives insight into the writers mind i hope they continhe doing this
That last bit Andy says at the end so eloquently encapsulates their work. Andy always cuts cheese with that wit.
Conan reacting to his own skits, filling us in on the cast and crew details, is the closest any of us will ever get to working at the Conan show. 👏🥳
“Accept our brother, Larry!”
“Jorgensen …”
I love those kind of sketches where one person (in this one being Conan) is the voice of reason or sense while everyone else is all of the same mindset of this crazy reality that just keeps getting weirder and weirder
I hope they make more of these, it’s so much fun to see them rewatching and reacting
This is the kind of of stupid-funny comedy that I miss from Conan so much. This and the nut spoon sketch!
Nut spoon, nut spoon, nut spoon!
"I laughed so hard. You idiots, with the nut spoon..." - Carl Reiner
Lol the otter in the background at 7:00 is a callout to the Larry Pencil Sketch 😂.

The Norse prog rock group got me. That is the kind of obscure humor I like. Like an Eric Andre skit where he has to baby from erasure head come out.
Surprise they didn't mention this was sequel to *"Sharpen this pencil"*
Fingers crossed for the next behind the nonsense being just about that
The Viking music video is GENIUS! This is one of my all time favorite bits.
