    Great videos and info Urban Outdoorsman. I appreciate you sharing. I am going up to Mens church retreat this weekend coming up. I usually do Seven Oaks area but was considering Big Bear Lake. Any good this time of year? Thank You.

      Amen brother.. the fishing should improve every week in Big Bear through March. Right now fishing early morning is key as the water temperature will be the coldest and the fish will be the closest to the shore and near the surface. The fish are pretty spread out but there are still somewhat concentrated near the west side in about 20 feet of water. I would Fish the West shore either on the North/east Shore or if you can get near the dam on the South Shore close to the bouy line. Right there at the red house should be doing pretty good right now... whatever you do with bait make sure you are using long leaders to get it out of the weeds

      Urban Outdoorsman I appreciate you and your time. I’m sure the videos are time consuming, keep up the great work.

    I went out to Juniper point about 4 times this year. Got skunked all 4 times. Was about to give it up. Perhaps I should just head more west. Is this spot near North Shore Landing?

    • @TroutWest
      @TroutWest  6 лет назад +1

      VNlilMAN Juniper point was really good about 3 months ago... Since then it's not been good I don't know why the fish are not hanging out there. Usually they are this time of year. Definitely had toward the west on the fish on the shoreline about a quarter mile before the red house.

    How long do you leave your leader ? And when u cast do you try to get it out deep or closer to shore

    • @TroutWest
      @TroutWest  5 лет назад +1

      Typically a big bear I cast far and use long leaders.. if the weather is very cold I will not cast as far and use about a three-foot leader. If the weather is warmer I will cast far and use a 3 to 5 foot

    nice video , I'm gonna stay at Lagunita Lodge next week , can you advise any good place around there ?

    • @TroutWest
      @TroutWest  6 лет назад +1

      Lagunita lodge has good shore access... But lots of weeds right now. If you're physically able.try fishing the dam area on the Southside of the dam. If not NW shore from red house to windy point. Lots of weeds so use long leaders

      I was hoping it would have snowed good this year, have u tried catfishing there one year on fourth of july my son beat me he caught a 21 lbs catfish that was like 5 years ago

    • @TroutWest
      @TroutWest  6 лет назад +1

      aircamry toy I have fished it on 4th of July and actually did pretty well in shallow water which was weird I think it was because of all the jet ski action pushing the fish towards Shore maybe I don't know but typically the fishing is tough in the summer but it can be good if you find a spot with Fish And they're feeding

    You are an expert fisherman. Big Bear is a tough lake to fish. The trout there can be very finicky so be prepared with a variety of baits and lures. I fished Big Bear and got skunked but I did NOT have an assortment of bait plus my power bait was like 4 years old. I learned my lesson to check my bait and make sure I have a variety of baits with me. I had not fished for four years and got back into freshwater fishing and surf fishing. If you are looking for a fishing buddy, let me know.

      Alpha X oh cool that's not too bad you're kind of far from a lot of the trout spots especially this time of year. I'm looking at maybe doing an open invite to Big Bear before the fishing dies off in the summer so stay tuned for that. If you ever have any questions about where to go or what to use let me know by posting up on a video and will definitely help you out

      That is why I do freshwater and saltwater fishing.:-). I will go to Big Bear when I get a chance but stocking info is sketchy and my main go-to spot is Silverwood and sometimes Lake Gregory. Hopefully, I will be in Mammoth next month.

      Right on man, send me some contact info @ Roadtripvidz@gmail.com. You'll be contacted if any opportunities arise. I mainly fish out of state, Utah, Arizona etc so if you get the call be prepared to head out there. Big Bear,Silverwood and Gregory are my local spots I frequent, but with the heat coming I'll be there less and less

    We’re up here for a few days any recommend areas to fish?

    • @TroutWest
      @TroutWest  6 лет назад +1

      onelik you want to be along the Northwest shore. 1/4 mile or so from the dam. . Basically between grays landing and the dam

    Is there a website where I can check daily fishing reports for big bear lake?

    • @TroutWest
      @TroutWest  6 лет назад

      onelik not really. There are some Facebook groups and pages like Big Bear sporting goods.

    • @onelik

      Urban Outdoorsman Okay I’ll check them out. Thanks for the reply!

    • @TroutWest
      @TroutWest  6 лет назад

      onelik usually Big Bear Sporting Goods post up on Facebook with some decent reports but there aren't very many detailed Reports online anymore. You can always post up on one of my videos and ask if you're curious I usually go up there pretty often and I have no problem letting people know what's going on

    • @onelik
      @onelik 6 лет назад

      Urban Outdoorsman my son and I will be fishing up there from March 30-April 2. We’ve never fished this lake before so checking out some videos to see where people like to fish on the lake and what to use. I seen your video on where to fish on big bear and it’s an awesome video, we’ll definitely hit the spots you were talking about in that video and we’ll as this video. We’ll be staying out in boulder bay near the water I’ll try there and see if there’s any trout in that bay.

    • @TroutWest
      @TroutWest  6 лет назад

      onelik sounds like an awesome time ahead for you guys. Boulder Bay is extremely low of water so it won't be the greatest spot but the South Shore has been producing near Lagonita point. Lagonita Resort has parking in front of it for public on the street you can walk through the resort out to the water and that area is really good right now too. That's probably the best spot on the South Shore next to fishing the South Shore near the dam. If I were to fish the South Shore I would focus on that area No Doubt. Definitely try the Northwest Shoreline about a half a mile or so from the dam driving east from the Dam. Also look at Juniper point even though it was slow last week it can change their pretty fast.

    • @TroutWest

      Justin Gonzalez you can always try for catfish they have some big ones in there but they're not recommended to eat these aren't recently planted catfish and contain a lot of heavy metals in them
