I was questioned by the PNP when my gf (at the time) and her sister went to the CR and left me in the food court with her 11 year old nephew for like 5 minutes that's when I read the law more thoroughly and now I have told my GF that at no time will her nieces nephews or her younger brother and sisters will ever be at the house without their parents no exceptions

Another thing to be aware of...because of good Samaritan laws and laws protecting minors from sex tourists, you can be arrested if someone reports you JUST FOR BEING ALONE WITH A MINOR. Beware, if your filipina is a single mom and you watch her kid while she is away or at work, that seemingly innocent trip to get an ice cream could get you locked up. I was walking in barrio barretto few yrs ago. A young girl and two boys were passing by and she raised her hand wanting to "high five". I sidestepped away to avoid them and just said "hello", smiled and kept going. I don't need problems. I'm an older expat. I got no business being around kids. If they come around asking for change or I see one with a cup in the street, I'll drop some money/change. As an expat I can't afford any appearance of impropriety. No breaks are given to foreigners.

If the offender is an American and he or she went to the Philippines and convicted of violation of Republic Act 7610, the USA government has a law that if an adult goes to a foreign country and commits an act against Philippine law, the USA has their own law and that person will serve time in an American prison. Calvin I was living in Thailand for over 10 years & was about to move on to Malaysia before I met a college educated hard working single lady with an 18 year old son! I’ve been around the block but the culture rules I was not aware of, plus I broke my golden rules of never dating a lady who had a kid! Long story short I couldn’t accept the fact that the Son always came 1st, Mother 2nd & me last ! After 3 years I had to end it! I been with plenty of ladies in my day but couldn’t handle always being last on her list! I left America for the same reasons you did over 20 years ago! That's correct you always have to make sure that whoever you're dating has Valid ID because even if they look young and they're 23-25 yrs old the police could show up at your door. I've been here for 3 yrs and they still don't have a National ID. There had been talk about getting them a couple of years ago but not every CItizen has an ID. Some of them have a Student ID and if they're not enrolled in school it expires. They can go to the post office and get an ID or you can pay for them to get a Philippines passport. Always make sure your partner has an ID.

After reading a few comments I have to say that this vid is not about the question if there are child molesters, why they exist and why they act the way they do. It is a fact they do exist and what they do is so very disgusting that i have no words for expressing how much I detest. I know of one right now that is vlogging regularly and was messing with a Filipina of 16 yrs old from Cebu. Shacking up with her by the time she was 17, moved her to another island and taking her to school daily. No parents in sight. Not even the school officials reported this. These are the ones still spreading the rumors that this is ok.

Great video. To all the Men out there thinking of messing with children back in the Philippines remember that is not uncommon to see "justice" outside the law in the Philippines. It is not uncommon to hear on the news about pedophiles getting killed in their jail cells because "they tried to grab the policeman's gun". So think twice, our concept of justice in the West is different from what they have in the Philippines, do stupid stuff and you might find yourself as the next salvaged victim.
I would say over the last 20 years or so not only have the laws significantly tightened up, but social norms are different too. I was stationed there in the late 90s and the 18-19 year olds that I dated there were some of the oldest girls that any of my circle dated. I knew a couple guys in their late 50s who lived with 14 year old girls like they were married and no one batted an eye. Sounds ridiculous but I saw it firsthand. Nowadays, as Calvin says, there are laws against simply _being alone in the company of a person under 18_, let alone having romantic relations with her. It's a really serious thing and the very very very last thing you would ever want is to be locked up in a prison there. Not only that, but it's just not socially accepted any more. Age differences are okay for sure, but these days you won't see many guys in their 40s or 50s dating anyone under say 25. Not at all impossible, just not super common.

I'm married to a wonderful Filipina and her underage nieces are always asking me to introduce them to any Americans that I might know. The guys age doesn't even matter! That's how desperate some families in the provinces are. The parents will pimp out their daughters for money. I've witnessed it with my own eyes.
May I suggest that as a foreigner, try making friends with a professional male such as a doctor. You have this chance when u go for a medical checkup. These doctors know good people, good available women ready to be in relationships. Maybe a former classmate in university or internship. Or current female colleagues. Nurses of all levels. Start well and with good company. I’d stay away from bars where other tourists flock. Filipinas in bars are a dime a dozen.
IMO professional Filipinos are unlikely to introduce fellow professionals to visiting single male tourists (who they assume are sex tourists) in case the woman gets pumped and dumped and then both of them will lose face big time. Not worth it. They have everything to lose (their reputation/honor) and little to gain personally. Locals are unlikely to do this unless you're a resident there, have a solid reputation and are ideally well-known to families, relatives, the local church etc - i.e. one of the community where everyone knows who you are and can see what you're getting up to. There for a 2-week vacation and looking for someone to recommend a wife to you? Only if the girl is desperate.

It all depends on how the conversation is carried out and how the foreigner approaches the topic. That is different for all of us but no doubt the key. I literally made a list of how I want to live the rest of my life. In the USA, in the state of Delaware, the age of consent was 10 years old until 1871 when it was lowered to 7 years old. In 1880, 37 states in the USA had an age of consent of 10 years, 10 states had an age of consent at 12 years, and Delaware had an age of consent of 7 years. Thank goodness times and law have changed.
I was walking in barrio barretto few yrs ago. A young girl and two boys were passing by and she raised her hand wanting to "high five". I’ve been around the block but the culture rules I was not aware of, plus I broke my golden rules of never dating a lady who had a kid! That's correct you always have to make sure that whoever you're dating has Valid ID because even if they look young and they're 23-25 yrs old the police could show up at your door. I've been here for 3 yrs and they still don't have a National ID. There had been talk about getting them a couple of years ago but not every CItizen has an ID. Some of them have a Student ID and if they're not enrolled in school it expires. They can go to the post office and get an ID or you can pay for them to get a Philippines passport. Always make sure your partner has an ID.

I really on the kindness and generosity of my children to survive. I'm a disabled very but the VA doesn't take care of me. I helped others all my life and this is where it has gotten me. After reading a few comments I have to say that this vid is not about the question if there are child molesters, why they exist and why they act the way they do. It is a fact they do exist and what they do is so very disgusting that i have no words for expressing how much I detest. It is very important that minors are protected against assault as much as possible. Wether it is good to date and develop a relationship with a much younger filipina is not the subject of this video. As long as no minors below 18 age are dated and everything happens in mutual agreement, there is nothing wrong with it from the point of view of the legal requirement.
For all of us expats without ever having had bad intentions it is so very important to know the law so we can avoid potential compromising situations with minors. Without ever having thought or planned anything bad, we could get into situations that might end up in big trouble.

I know of one right now that is vlogging regularly and was messing with a Filipina of 16 yrs old from Cebu. Shacking up with her by the time she was 17, moved her to another island and taking her to school daily. No parents in sight. Not even the school officials reported this. These are the ones still spreading the rumors that this is ok.

Great video. To all the Men out there thinking of messing with children back in the Philippines remember that is not uncommon to see "justice" outside the law in the Philippines. It is not uncommon to hear on the news about pedophiles getting killed in their jail cells because "they tried to grab the policeman's gun". So think twice, our concept of justice in the West is different from what they have in the Philippines, do stupid stuff and you might find yourself as the next salvaged victim.
I would say over the last 20 years or so not only have the laws significantly tightened up, but social norms are different too. I was stationed there in the late 90s and the 18-19 year olds that I dated there were some of the oldest girls that any of my circle dated. I knew a couple guys in their late 50s who lived with 14 year old girls like they were married and no one batted an eye. Sounds ridiculous but I saw it firsthand. Nowadays, as Calvin says, there are laws against simply _being alone in the company of a person under 18_, let alone having romantic relations with her. It's a really serious thing and the very very very last thing you would ever want is to be locked up in a prison there. Not only that, but it's just not socially accepted any more. Age differences are okay for sure, but these days you won't see many guys in their 40s or 50s dating anyone under say 25. Not at all impossible, just not super common.

I'm married to a wonderful Filipina and her underage nieces are always asking me to introduce them to any Americans that I might know. The guys age doesn't even matter! That's how desperate some families in the provinces are. The parents will pimp out their daughters for money. I've witnessed it with my own eyes.
May I suggest that as a foreigner, try making friends with a professional male such as a doctor. You have this chance when u go for a medical checkup. These doctors know good people, good available women ready to be in relationships. Maybe a former classmate in university or internship. Or current female colleagues. Nurses of all levels. Start well and with good company. I’d stay away from bars where other tourists flock. Filipinas in bars are a dime a dozen.
IMO professional Filipinos are unlikely to introduce fellow professionals to visiting single male tourists (who they assume are sex tourists) in case the woman gets pumped and dumped and then both of them will lose face big time. Not worth it. They have everything to lose (their reputation/honor) and little to gain personally. Locals are unlikely to do this unless you're a resident there, have a solid reputation and are ideally well-known to families, relatives, the local church etc - i.e. one of the community where everyone knows who you are and can see what you're getting up to. There for a 2-week vacation and looking for someone to recommend a wife to you? Only if the girl is desperate.

It all depends on how the conversation is carried out and how the foreigner approaches the topic.
