What grade chain is that? I'm thinking about doing the exact same thing but worried about using the cheap grade 30 chain from harbor freight

so from what i see there.....must be about a hundred feet of chain and a hundred shackles.......what was the actual amount you used....I have a 52 8N......and would love....no cross that out, need some chains....and where did you get your chain...i went to Canadian tire just yesterday ...thought i would try and pick up chain and shackles .but at like 3.29 and foot and 4.19 or something a shackle.....quite expensive......thanks for your video......looks good!

      Thanks Mate!
I'm from denmark and i don't know about prices in Canada, but i bought the anchor chain at a boat parts store where i got a really good deal, i would expect that a tire Company would charge you a lot more, i always shop around to find the best deal.
I made the chains a couple of years ago and i honestly can't remember exactly how much i used, sorry, i suggest you measure your tires to get the correct amount to make a good fit.

marc go to princess auto for your parts, you dont have to buy the shackles, you can use chain link, cut it up, bend chain link open, attach bent open chain link to chain, close it back up, weld shut. there is other videos showing my awful explaination in detail.

This is one way of doing it, but i just have to point out a couple of problems with that solution, First of all welding galvanized steel will end up rusting very fast, you could of course paint with something like galvacoat, but it will wear of quickly and you will again end up with rusty chain links very quickly, and secondly welding galvanized steel creates very toxic fumes, so be sure to do it in a ventilated place as to avoid getting sick.

nice tip, technically you dont even have to weld it shut, you can just clamp the open link closed over the connecting links. they wont be under much of a load and would work well too. no welding needed
