I place "Outlander" and "When Two Empires Collide" in the first tier of Cloud Factory songs, "No Hoard of Value" and "Cloud Factory" in the second tier. The Cloud Factory album is my second favourite Jinjer studio release to date, after Micro. I feel that it's their most overtly political album to date, and I appreciate that. It's also quite thematically cohesive as an album, and there are a lot of great riffs. Finally, I think that Tatiana found her identity as a metal vocalist on this album, and it's *magnificent.* I don't believe that you've covered "When Two Empires Collide". It's a much under-appreciated track with lyrics written in reaction to Russia's 2014 annexation of Crimea and support of militants in eastern Ukraine, cast as part of a conflict between two empires (Russia & USA), which I certainly regard as an accurate analysis of the conflict. Unfortunately, there are no official videos, and the only live videos I'm aware of were recorded after second guitarist Dmitriy Oksen left the band, and I don't think that they ever figured out a satisfactory arrangement for one guitar. Thankfully, there's a good fan-made lyric video for the song with footage from war-ravaged Ukraine intercut with footage of a live performance of the song at a small venue. @@RustySabita there is no mv and no stand alone live. Lyric videos are usually pretty crappy but this one was done by the band. It will not ruin it for you but it is about miners. Jinjer’s symbol like mine here is a drill bit. Coal mining was very important to the Donetsk region where Jinjer is from. Miner’s from that region where the heroes that sacrificed themselves to contain Chernobyl from being an even worst disaster.

This is basically the 2012 vintage where she started to get the lows but it wasn't quite as low as it got later. By 2015 she had Pisces level lows. Here there's a bit of sheen and she really has to work for the lows. Later it's clearly easier. The live version of this song I think was done in 2018 and you can tell the difference. I don't know what you would call that section. It's not so much a guitar solo as a guitar feature. In fact the live version is more stripped down. Here they still have two guitars but the live version is with the current lineup and it sounds more like a guitar feature since they really don't have guitar solos. I'm not certain (there are no doubt fans who know) but I think that drummer is the one who had a tragic accident and was replaced by Dmitri Kim who did the King of Everything album. The next song from this in the evolution of her voice would probably be Outlander Official Live at Loudfest which is the first gig Dmitry Kim did with the band. Not the Outlander OMV which has live footage but studio sound but the actual live version of it. In Donetsk Ukraine there are a lot of coal mines. The cloud factories are the coal processing plants.
Yeah, thats what I kind of sensed too. I'll be sure to check out the live version of Outlander just to see the difference. Coal Mine = Cloud Factory, that's is such a good poetic twist of words.
Speaking of intros and outros...on the album King of Everything....the intro is Prologue (King of Everything), and the outro is Beggar's Dance....They are the same lyrics put to two different styles of songs and neither are what you would expect to hear out of Jinjer and to put the icing on the cake, the lyrics are the hooks of the songs on the album, but you don't come away with the same conclusion as you do when listening to the songs from which the hooks came.
Nice thoughts, but good luck defining their music ;) Jokes aside, they are so interesting (or were, but that's just me and a whole different topic) with these interludes and tides and spices in their pieces, they pique your interest and you get hooked, wanting for more. 'Sit stay rollover' from the 'King of everything' album and 'Ape' from 'Micro' EP.
