    6:40 Mam, please make a video on 'How to increase speed of Aakaram and get that grain when doing Aakaram in speed '.

    • @VoxGuru
      @VoxGuru  9 месяцев назад +4

      Before working on speed, we must work on the clarity of our akaram at slower speeds. Then the speed can be increased gradually. Also ensure your jaw is in a fixed position throughout the akaram. Use a metronome app and increase the speed slowly by 10 bpm at a time.

    Ooooor, it could be written down(!) Perhaps it's traditional to do it from teacher to student and this does have a nice aesthetic to it. But if raga have set gamakas, which is interesting, it could also be written down to make the point, which might be useful. I'm from UK - no Indian family origins. I just would like to learn about different musical styles and to use my voice like them with the same spontaneous intuition I can with more western sounding music. It seems lamentably difficult to find materials on them. So I'm very happy to see your videos. You're wonderfully clear and obviously know your thang. Thanks. Keep posting :)

    • @VoxGuru
      @VoxGuru  7 месяцев назад

      We can definitely write down the notation for Gamakas for the basic scale. But beyond that once you start singing a song it becomes too complex to notate each gamaka of each note. It’s possible but might make it very cumbersome to read and follow. So I usually suggest to pick it up by ear and get used to the movements intuitively.

    Ma'am... I don't have the opportunity to go to music classes... or get course... my parents are not agreeing to it... (for online courses)... and for normal music classes... there is only 1 carnatic music class around me where nothing is taught properly...(I got to know this after gaining some knowledege about music through yt)...
    What shall I do... I have that zeal and urge of learning music... especially Carnatic... But cannot...😢😢😢😢😢😢😢

    Thank you so much for your video. I am restarting my Carnatic musical journey on my own. As I explore raagas on my own, my big problem is that I can find the notes to the raagas but I don't know where I can find an explanation for the gamakas that go with each raaga.
    Do you know of any database or book that has this information?

    • @VoxGuru
      @VoxGuru  8 месяцев назад

      Glad to know your are exploring Ragas. There is no book to my knowledge that exhaustively contains descriptions of Gamakas. Gamakas are usually understood by learning various compositions and observing the flow of Gamakas in those. Also the usage of Gamakas varies from one phrase to another so it is quite difficult to define the boundaries of Gamakas in words. I would suggest to learn them in a practical way and feel the movements as you sing or play an instrument.
