"The Music of Stillness" text by Sara Teasdale
There will be rest, and sure stars shining
Over the roof-tops crowned with snow,
A reign of rest, serene forgetting,
The music of stillness holy and low.
I will make this world of my devising
Out of a dream in my lonely mind.
I shall find the crystal of peace, - above me
Stars I shall find.

Absolutely gorgeous ❤
Willing to hear this all day
😊Me too.
Beautiful version! My daughter just sang it at the Regional High School NJ Honor choir and is also the red head who sang Soprano 1and hit that high note with 2 other singers and the blending was stunning. Who ever sang sang that note in this piece, brings tears to my eyes every time
Well done! Not sure if she gets credit for a solo, but the soprano at 3:23...WOW.
Isn't she great?! Thanks!
She’s got a stunning voice! And I had the privilege of standing next to her all year! 😊
Yes. We got to sit on the first row that night right in front of the left wing where the ladies were singing, and that moment where the tall red-head just lifted that gorgeous high note over the stage was breathtakingly beautiful. Everyone just did a marvelous job and made a magical piece I thoroughly enjoyed.
Thank you so much! I'm so happy that you seemed to love listening to this piece just as much as we loved to sing it.
@@josielarsen2459 Your voice is breathtaking. It just floated over so effortlessly! Wonderful!!!
Stunning performance! I could see and feel the stars lighting up the sky in this piece!
Sublime.
We’re singing this at all state choir this year and I’ve literally had this on repeat it’s so beautiful
Was it wv all state?
@@elijahdelk9784 VA
@@juliakoehler9255 oh okay. We sang this in wv all state too the same year.
we’re doing it this year at our all state, it’s such a beautiful song
I'm trying out for the Iowa All State and they're doing this song.
I love how you can tell they practiced a lot because its hard to do that well at acapella. There are 4 parts of the acapella and it's so amazing how they put it together so well. You can tell how well they keep their diaphragm in control and how it effects the voice.
This is by far the best recording of this- one of the Db basses who sang this in high school
We're doing this for The Tennessee All-SouthWest Choir this year and I'm excited 😭❤️
The music calms the soul and fills the heart with spirit and peace. May such an opportunity to hear and feel be ours.
this video is absolutely wonderful and everyone did such a good job.. i think about this piece a lot and you all did it oh so wonderfully. the crescendos are perfect and everyone blends so well. i get chills every time i come back here..
Dope. I'll be at the ACDA this year as well with my high school choir. Elaine also composed a piece for us.
Thank you for sharing a beautiful music... Glad to see you guys performed in Jakarta
This is just so beautiful! The soprano.....my dear your voice is beautiful. Bravo to all of you!
Thank you so much!
Thank you!
absolutely gorgeous. singing this in a week for my school’s winter concert
I love BYU Singers! This piece is really moving.
Thank you very much! This is one of the choir's favorite pieces this year.
Wow what a balance!! The tone across the low altos is really well matched. The whole choir listens and blend together very well. A really select group of singers, no doubt.
Heard Cantorum perform this piece last night, and it sounded really familiar. I was probably remembering this concert here. Breathtaking as always!
Goose bumps on the ground....
I’m so excited to sing this beautiful piece at all state this year
It’s funny because I’m subscribed to Elaine‘s RUclips channel. I know it’s kind of hard to believe she has a channel. The thing is with that, though, she is young and I saw an interview with her that proved to me that she was younger than I thought.
Funny how I sang this as a bass 2 freshman and sophomore year and I’m a tenor 1 as of last year lol
Can some one give me the history of this group Please?
It was formed when Ralph Woodward retired in 1984, replacing A Cappella Choir with elements of the Chamber Singers as well. Oratorio Choir became BYU Concert Choir. If you visit singers.byu.edu/ you can read about the history of BYU Singers and hear more videos.
So beautiful! Thanks for sharing your talents!
Hallelujah!
Amen!
Loving and Blessings!
Linda la rubia del medio...
Just found this piece. Its beautiful
Glad you like it!
BEAUTIFUL! Who didn't memorize his music??
Someone who had just joined the choir.
@@byu-singers I assumed that! Just a stupid joke, sorry!
@@daviddarling512 No worries--we just wanted to stand up for an outstanding singer!
