I would pay Dirty Dutch for a Cameo. As a matter of fact after I write this I'm gonna look at your merchandise. So if you can get my money good chance there are others out there. Really enjoy the show. The two of you have a natural chemistry together and it seems as if y'all are beginning to get a rhythm down. Look forward to see where the two of you take the show. Thank you for letting me sit in the back.
😆 I never cared for Sheik as a wrestler because firstly he was before my time and secondly every time he did show up he was portraying the west hating bad guy so I wasn't supposed to like him. So basically I hated him because of how good he was and because he was so great at playing the hateable antagonising character he was paid to be. Outside the ring it's a different story, I loved the guy and have laughed at/with him more times than I could count.
I`m 21, never have seen Dutch doing anything in wrestling, exept maybe once with Del Rio. And now I just love to watch and listen to your podcasts. You guys are making amazing work.
Thats my Dads answer when the Vietnam subject comes up. "I Survived. " Thank you Dutch for your service not only to this Country.. but to the Wrestling business as well
My dad served in Korea. Never talked about it and it left him soured about the politics of this country. Unlike the “boys” today, men usually never talked about it…only rarely.
Thanks for your service dutch I always respected you but now I have a new found respect and admiration for your sacrifice and service to freedom. I had two uncles in Vietnam and both were heroes of mine and were the definition of manly man.
Funny story, I went to a wrestling show with my little brother back in 81 that featured iron sheik, bob backlund, ivan putski and a few others. At the end of every show sometimes the wrestlers would come out and sign stuff and shake fans hands-baby faces mostly. My brother spotted bob backlund , he walked up to bob said hello and asked if he would sign his program. Bob flat out and coldly said no and walked away.broke my brothers heart, he cried( he 6 at the time i was 15) who heard him crying? Iron sheik. He came over, my brother told him what happened and shook my brothers hand, told him not to cry and signed his program and promised to break bobs neck lol. Sheik- a heel- came to my brothers aid. Fast forward to 2008, my brother is sick, hes dying of stomach cancer(he died 5 months later). We went to one final autograph show in GA. Sheik was there. My brother showed him the program and thanked him for making him a "heel fan" sheik hugged him and of course we got to take pics and get our belts signed. Iron Sheik, you are a man, class act and a better champion than backlund, RIP Sheik
That is why Sheiky hated Andre the French F@g as he called him,and ultimate warrior. They were the big time baby faces and would cuss at little kids and not sign for them. Nikoli said that they would miss flights during their tag championship run in the mid 80's because of sheik signing pictures for kids
I do love your little chat at the end and find Dutch so endearing to listen to! So many older folks are afraid to ask questions about technology and young people don't have the time for them. So I love your relationship with Dutch's curiosity and James has the time to patiently answer his questions. Dutch is the jolly grandpa we all wish we had!!!
#RIP Iron Sheik. I remember when he went by the name Hussain Arab in the late 70s working for Vince Sr. He was truly one of a kind, a great entertainer and legit tough guy.
I LOVE sheiky babys sense of humor! We need more of that in the world and not care if we offend people thats gonna find anything possible to cry about anyway. They r weak and pathetic nobodies... quit caring if someones offended. Thats their problem not yours
Thats why I followed him on Twitter. I've heard that it was a nephew who kept it updated, but it was classic Sheik. He had no filter and said what was on his mind. I loved his shoot interviews as well.
James, having a live stream Q&A is a great idea! Besides plugging it on the preceding podcasts, you could use RUclips's "Premiere" function to make subscribers aware of it a few days in advance and I think it would draw pretty well, especially if it's held during prime time here in the U.S. As always, thanks for the podcast and interviews!
Thats true, I've known Dutch for a long time and he never told war stories. I was blessed to have been in many car rides with Dutch. He was the one who taught me what "Kayfabe" meant back in 2000.
I've been a fan of your podcast for awhile. I love Dutch's down home wisdom and take on the business and on life. I also like that the two of you have good chemistry and genuinely like each other. It is a clean podcast, something you don't see much of, and an old school guy like myself appreciates that. I gave up on wrestling decades ago, but I enjoy Story Time with Dutch. Thank you.
The Iron Sheik was a very different cat. He was a world class Amateur Wrestler , who converted to pro wrestling he was very well trained the hard way with the AWA and started his pro wrestling career there . He was a family man with 3 quite attractive daughters. One of his babies was murdered and it broke the man he became a drug addict and a bit of a mess after that that's how he dealt with the pain. R.I.P THE GREAT MAN AND FORMER CHAMPION
Remember that vignette where the 4 Horseman beat up Dusty Rhodes in a parking lot? I heard in an interview with one of the Horseman (can’t recall which one) that that was filmed on the same day of Magnum’s accident. Watch it and you can easily tell that it was raining pretty good that day.
Despite the past decade either bed bound or a in a chair, looking back, Sheiky Baby was right to put me in Camel Clutch, Break my Back and give me an all American-Iranian Piping. It was the humbling I needed to set me straight. Legend
I live in Connecticut, where The Maury Show and The Jerry Springer Shows were filmed. They weren't filmed near where I live. I live in the poorer half of Connecticut. However, the girl who brought multiple guys on and never found the father, is a girl I had been a distant acquaintance with. I went to high school with her older sister. For the record, I am also NOT the father! 😅
Saturday morning watching Memphis Wrasslin with my 2 brothers 1 step brother we used to try all the holds on each other lol after the show on tv it was on non stop
Iron sheik did win a gold medal but not at the Olympics, it was the AAU national championships. He also was an assistant coach on the US wrestling team in 72 that won a silver medal. Maybe the stories got mixed up over the years either way it’s still not too far fetched
Magnum’s accident did not cause Crockett’s downfall. The downfall of the company was due to Jim Crockett, Jr’s incompetence as a CEO. If I could have 3 wishes, I would definitely use one of them to take my abilities and experience of today and go back to 1984 and begin a coaching program with Jim Crockett, Jr. I think we could have altered the outcome.
I got a family friend that was a part of I believe a Marine Delta Squad in Vietnam. Has Dutch ever heard or met a fellah they called Pellet from Maine? He was a Tunnel Rat and he has some crazy stories if you guys do more military stuff about Nam I'm sure he will write in a story or two.
I am so tired at this point of hearing about wrestling deaths, damn, just give us a few months or years in between. So wild, RIP Mr sheik, this world will never be the same.
Wow I did not know dutch served in Nam. It's hard to tell, because he is so positive and joyful. The man has gone through so much. It was maury povitch
RIP to the former World Heavyweight Champion The Iron Sheik💪🏼 All the best to his family and friends. Greatful I got to see him wrestle live twice in the early 80s
If Hallmark doesn't jump all over making a card saying "so I hear Little Jimmy's Little Jimmy is going from a turtleneck to a t-shirt....." then they have missed out on a golden opportunity 😂😂😂😂😂
The “story” was even earlier than that when Masked Superstar took Backlund outside at MSG and did a swinging neck breaker on the concrete floor. Backlund eventually moved on to the Iron Sheik and attempted to do the Iranian clubs on tv and was attacked by Sheiky from behind. Bob botched the clubs landing on his neck, which is available on RUclips. I believe Superstar was first considered for the WWF title but refused for some reason.
😂 when my stepbrother and I were younger I tried to do a Swanton bomb off my bed on him in the floor completely missed and cracked my tailbone 😂 Dutch is so right.
2 things... 1st: Met Sheik once, very cool guy. 2nd: Broke my little cousins collarbone, giving him a press slam onto a mattress in the basement. I wasn't allowed to watch wrestling for a year...long year
I used to work with a guy who wrestled under the name John Dalmer . It was that extreme group in the Del. area. He used to wrestle John Moxley when he started. He said The Sheik was the smelliest guy he ever wrestled
The Undertaker after he got scammed by Buzz Sawer, went looking for him at his former Residents in Texas, when he bounced out of Town into a New Territory he Left Behind to pure breed Germansheppered Dogs so Undertaker feeling not only bad for the Dogs being abandoned but mad about being scammed took them as his own, I guess years later in Late 80'sin WCW Locker Room the Undertaker bumps in to Buzz and reminds him of his Scam and tells him he took the Dogs as payment Buzz was shocked to Learn that's what happend to his two Dogs.😂😂😂😂😂
The Mabel Rib huh?..... *sigh* I do believe I have fallen victim to this one. No names, but a girl who used to be under WWE contract and divorced from a former WWE superstar was a stripper at a local club. She found out I was an indie guy and we hit it off, spending some time in the VIP. She asked for my number afterward and I was thrilled to oblige. A few hours later, my phone rang. It was supposedly her husband, threatening to "skull-fuck me with a shotgun." Terrifying at the moment, but I feel preeeeeetty stupid now. Here I thought I was hot shit lol
Sheik played the anti-American foreign menace... at a time when both people believed it was real and sometimes came to shows packing heat... and during probably the worst period in US-Iran relations... and unlike Muhammad Hassan or Nikolai Volkoff was legitimately from the country of his gimmick. That shows you how much balls he had.

Lol im just now learning wayne is dutchs real name lol
Amen to ur comment though. Freedom isnt free. We need to be ready to fight for freedom again very soon...
Wasn’t Vietnam another loss for America ha
Invading someone else's country isn't heroic.

I hope there is a heaven so the Iron Sheik can be reunited with his daughter. God Bless the Legend forever!! R.I.P.

Love and MUCH Respect to THE LEGEND; ‘The Iron Sheik’

Sleep well, Bubba…
If there is an afterlife it just got a lot more entertaining.

Dutch loves Maury!!!!!! That’s hilarious I love both guys their awesome 👍
Maury povitch had dna tests all the time lol great show
Was it really, or was it redundant low brow shite for people with an IQ of about 80.
It was me Austin... It was me all along!!!
@@williammitchell4417 Oh the higher power , the worst payoff to an angle ever. Probably a Russo idea since it made absolutely no logical sense.

Came for the sheik. Intro Maury’s tv reference 😂😂😂 yeah I grew up watching that at times too. R.I.P Sheik

I would like to say"Thank you for your sacrifice" Dutch
Thank you for your serving in the military. Your service is truly appreciated.
The Maury Povich show, I think.
The chat show Dutch is refirribg too is maury povich. That's the "you are Not the father" it's a late 90s classic. Good old days
Big time heel during a crisis in the USA. I thought he was great.
Kenny bolin was there lol
Radio city music hall for the rockettes question and the paternity test show was Maury.
Good lord, Stan Lane had to be going "WTF!?" for 20 years straight. Every time he turned around he had something crazy happening to him.
My dad wouldn’t talk about nam either it was a crap time for sure
he did win gold medals at the us aau and olympic trials he was def good enough to do it
Gave a guy a stunner once and he fell down like a sack of potatoes along the lines of how Vince took them. No broken bones though thank god
Terry Lindell is a legend!! He is the man behind "Ron west's championship wrestling", plus he trolled Cuckuly Corny . Love him
Saturday morning watching Memphis Wrasslin with my 2 brothers 1 step brother

The show Dutch is referring to is Maury Povich.
43:30 .. and also, Greg Gagne was there :D

Iron sheik did win a gold medal but not at the Olympics, it was the AAU national championships. He also was an assistant coach on the US wrestling team in 72 that won a silver medal. Maybe the stories got mixed up over the years either way it’s still not too far fetched
The year Magnum met Buzz to train him was 1982 and in the show he said the money he gave Buzz was 10,000 dollars.
my favorite sheik moment, "I'm gonna whip you like Persian camel", followed by a very strange camel impression.
El Gigante said “Ric Flair, I kill you” as a baby face.😂😂😂😂
Magnum’s accident did not cause Crockett’s downfall. The downfall of the company was due to Jim Crockett, Jr’s incompetence as a CEO. To steal a Vince phrase, Crockett screwed Crockett.
Thanks Dutch for not believing the Vern Gagne story about breaking Hogans leg.
I get tired of hearing "F this" and "f this guy" on a certain other podcast. Im glad this one is pretty clean and actually focused on wrestling.
Maury Povich was the show Dutch is talking about.
I'd still like to see Dutch and Honky do an interview together.
