Tip. After you remove the ransomware virus you can use shadow explorar to retrieve some files that windows automatically backups to your computer
Not always. Some ransomware deliberately wipes those files or otherwise corrupts them/encrypts them.

What if your backup Files also Encrypted with Ransome ? I can see your backup files are stored in the local Disk.
You need to remove the ransom first. If you recover from a backup while you have ransomware, the files will be encrypted cause ransomwares uses real-time encryption (that means whatever you download while being infected, the file that you downloaded will also be encrypted.)
@Marin Katić How do you mean this is not working? Search up WannaCry removal. There you will find how to remove the ransom and then recover your files. Using Registry is the best for that and that tool will be used in the video.

I keep isolated images of each of my computers on outboard USB drives. Some years ago when these ransom wares started, my wife got hit with a ransom ware. I booted on the Win repair DVD, and deleted the partition in each of the drives in the computer. I then restored everything using the system images. It took about 80 minutes for everything to be back as like the last backup...

Ransomware is an example of why it's important to back up your stuff. It's better to lose some stuff than to lose all of your stuff.
reset your hard drive, yes your files will be gone but so will the ransomware
what if you don't have any backup? Is there still any way to recover those files? Btw, my files has been encrypted too and it's a (.wdlo) type of ransomware and I have no idea how to fix it.

I did a complete reformat. Reinstalled windows and deleted the infected files and ran an antivirus

A lot of modern ransomwares blocks access to safe mode and injects itself as a driver, so it can load even into the safe mode without network.
Plot twist - if you click the update and restart your computer would automatically fix

Yeah my C drive was unaffected but all files of E and F were encrypted. I formatted those disks, ran a full boot scan and now I'm feeling secured.

I got affected by VVOA including my 4 Slave hard drives. When I tried to put my pc on SAFE MODE, it never restarted again. Always take a back up in an external drive, format the system and copy and paste from the external drive. Isn't it?

Steve your video is AMAZING! BUT...ransomware has blocked my browsers on my desktop and in safe mode I can't use my encrypted browsers and safe mode will not show my "networks" so I can't activate my network. You never addressed how you got online.
How do I get on line to download antivirus software? I assume I can't put the software onto a USB stick or disc to load in safe mode...plus I tried the stick in regular mode but it got corrupted (encrypted) the second I stuck it in the port.

Any leads on how to get rid of the GandCrab 5.0.4 ransomware? I just got infected and there's no restore point available! I thought windows used to create them automatically. I believe .rote is part of the djvu ransomware family. Go to this website emsisoft dot com/ransomware-decryption-tools/ and upload the ransomware file as explained. They have many decryptors there to help. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

Shadow file explorer works (you need to install before the attack I think) but it can backup your files from where they were last time you backed up

My laptop got infected by a Vari ransomware and sadly mine is online.. And most of the vids I watched for Vari were for offline solution only. I hope you may be able to find one. Please help us. This will only help if you have a backup. This is pretty much only for removing the actual virus and restoring from a backup and not magically decrypting the files.

Also some Windows divers are corrupted..
So if I format my C drive and install windows OS and all drivers and antivirus software..
Then scan my system and remove virus (if it's still in my laptop)
Is it any chance to get my files back..???
Or i have to backup all my data in external HDD
And format my harddrive..(factory restore)
Then get a new fresh installation.....
And after that recover my file from external HDD to my laptop...
