In 2012, the Norfolk Southern was ramping up their 21st Century Steam program with a series of employee appreciation specials. That September, Nickel Plate Road 2-8-4 765 was brought to the St. Louis for a series of these trips. This program covers the journey.
The show begins at the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society's shop as 765 departs for St. Louis on her deadhead trip. After a brief look back at the original steam program, three camera crews followed the train to St. Louis. Then we filmed the two days of trips between Berkley and St. Charles, along with 765 heading across Illinois on the way back to Fort Wayne.
This program is presented in memory of our friend and videographer Tom Dunn, who passed away in 2023.
