Book Worm Thought it would, but if any other side did it they would be lauded. We're just enjoying the moment. I'm always careful about saying my team is going to tear another apart, as sometimes is comes back to bite you. I'm sure we'll be well up for the battle in Dublin, hopefully to come home with a 19th win.
Small country syndrome. Don't care as long as we beat the English is such a pathetic mentality. But hey, if that's what floats their boats then they will never achieve more. England now have a new mentality under Jones and look what it's done.
You got to admit every team Eddie coaches he's improved vastly. It's not just England, he turned Japan from a Tier 2 side in the bottom of the top 20, to realistically a tier 1 side around about 10th in the world.
What Eddie has done, is create an amazing number one team, and probably one of the strongest benches I have seen since the World Cup of 2003. Eddie you are an absolute legend, and thank you for what you've done for the team.
We Australians didn't have as good of a team/squad in 2003 RWC and Eddie got us into the Final after a master plan to beat NZ then he got us a draw at full time and within 1 drop goal from a great England team that was a superior team. He is a great coach and in total control.
This guy as totally transformed England rugby from the stuffy school boy characterless team that it was from Lancaster to maybe the best England team ever
Lancaster missed the grand slam twice and by a whisker in 2012, he did improve England to some extent, it's just the events of the 2015 World Cup forever blackened his memory.
You're not at all wrong but Lancaster's England reached a plateau and didn't get any better for the last 12 months of his reign. He made England better, he changed their direction for the better, he's a great guy but it was time for a new coach to take England to the next level. Eddie Jones has done that.
Levi Lee The worst thing that happened to England rugby was beating New Zealand 38-21 at Twickenham in 2012. It cemented the Lancaster regime and we all know what happened. I don't blame Lancaster for all England's woes. For a while there'd been a shoddy attitude, a 'boys club' attitude- 'you've made it to the top now enjoy and fill your boots lads'. Lancaster is a nice guy and a decent man but since being let go by England it's instructive that no top nation or club has snapped him up. New Zealand rugby has always been wary of England getting it right. We stumbled on a winning formula in 2002/3. Since then they've laughed behind their hands at how soft we've been. We had talent but not the balls to train as if our lives depended on it, like every All Black either does or disappears. It's taken a dose of Southern Hemisphere spunk up us to to kick us into top gear. So be it. Let's fucking learn the lesson because 'Sir' Eddie won't be around for ever. Let's never allow our national team to slack off again. Let the days be in the past when arrogant, complacent, wankers could, by day, insult hard training young players with taunts of "don't be such a keeno" and by night, crudely harass hotel maids with vulgar propositions. Arise 'Sir Eddie'. And as you do take the whole set-up with you, permanently.
"but since being let go by England it's instructive that no top nation or club has snapped him up." Uhhhhm, he's had a huge influence on Leinster returning to the pinnacle of European rugby, and Toulon were negotiating similar role for him. Lancaster was an excellent man manager and talent spotter, it's just his tactical nous and selection that betrayed a lack of experience and that was shown in the WC. Every success Jones has had was built on foundations Lancaster provided.
MNightTomalan OK Leinster are a top class outfit, no argument but he joined the backroom staff. There's no shame in that and I don't doubt he's done an excellent job but let's be honest - a top drawer manager fresh from one of the plum international jobs would surely expect a head coach job at a top club. Can you picture Eddie Jones, Steve Hansen, Joe Schmidt or Warren Gatland etc failing to land a top management role and instead becoming, effectively, fourth or fifth in the hierarchy at a club? I have no beef with Lancaster, as you say a very decent man who worked diligently to build a squad. But, by any measure, he failed to maximise the talent at his disposal. Hansen recently said words to the effect of "we always knew England had the talent but they were afraid to work hard". Jones has brought that ferocious, no excuses, ruthless even, edge that was missing. I won't argue that Lancaster isn't a fine and principled man (maybe too principled as his legally unnecessary dropping of Dylan Hartley for the W/C perhaps showed)and perhaps he's found his ideal role at Leinster. But head coach of a national team with a reasonable ambition to be World Champions. Errrr, no.
To think that if we win against Ireland it will set all sorts of records, including a double Grand Slam, and most consecutive wins in international rugby is so exciting
+cbr500r. No question the Scots are on the way up. Loosing Hogg really hurt them. Plus England played really well in first 20 today . But the Scottish kept at it
The Press just do not get that JJ was not "Dropped". Eddie wants his team to progress and needs at least 2 more centres good enough for Internationals. You can only select 23 for the match. It is the long term , bigger picture Eddie is looking at
I take my hat of to Eddie, apart from the win one of the most telling decisions was to remove Eliot Daly even after he had passed the HIA, which shows the total smarts of the man. When you read the media you just don't get the real story.
We have an awesome bunch of youngsters coming through, as well. About 5 years ago the English clubs all changed the way they trained, concentrating more on 'ball in hand' and 'skills with forwards' than the traditional power and pace. The benefits are really starting to be seen. All our best players are under 26 and we have a new, young wave of real talent coming through from the Under 20s. It's exciting times for England
Not taking it for granted is why the AB's are consistently number one or number two. England's downfall has traditionally stemmed from a mindset that's the polar opposite.
Biggest 23 Not taking it for granted in the literal sense, but being at the pinnacle for so long that they have not envisaged a threat like this emerging with such severity.
"they have not envisaged a threat like this emerging with such severity" That comment is exactly what I'm talking about. If you could remove a pair of that comments ribs, it would double over and begin fellatio on itself. The AB's spent much of their glorious history in a life and death struggle with Die Bokke, that prior to their recent political emasculation, were still better than England is now. I'll repeat the same thing that every NZer has said to any supporters of a team that has had success against the AB's.... "do it consistently for ten years and you'll be regarded as a threat"
Lancaster was a decent coach but agree not in the same league as Eddie Jones. For me, and it's been mentioned a number of times, what Jones does that is really noticeable is back his players 100% but more importantly take the pressure off the team by handling the press so well. This was so obvious post Italy match; as professional rugby players the boys should have figured out the Italian tactics after a few minutes but had to wait to half time for coaching direction. A lesser man would have accepted such comments as genuine criticism (they were) but Jones took this completely on the chin by being outraged by Italian tactics and deflected comments away from the team (he is so good at what he does it would come as no surprise if the laws were changed). I couldn't see mention in the string of comments below, but I also think that it is worth mentioning that having two play makers in the middle of the field in Ford and Farrell is working so well and ripping apart well organised defences (Scotland weren't poor at the weekend, England were just so much better). In sum, Jones is a tactical guru, he has recruited brilliant back room support staff (Wilkinson's involvement just brilliant); is a master man manager and PR genius (I'm a big fan!!).
Trust a Scot to ask when are England going to show their superiority over other teams just after annihilating Scotland, equalling a world cup winning streak, back to back championships and still the possibility of back to back slams. Most bitter and deluded people.
thanks eddie for giving away aussie secrets to improve their game ,now come home and sort your own backyard out your own rugby teams look like getting the chop from our comp at the poms expense.
fantastic Eddie thanks for everything you and your team are doing for England!
Whatever, we still win even if we loose. FOREVER ENGLAND.
Funny enough 18 other teams have said that as well, if we are then fair enough its been a great run, but hey don't count your chickens yet.
Book Worm Thought it would, but if any other side did it they would be lauded. We're just enjoying the moment. It's funny how it's the English who are always labeled as arrogant yet comments like this are continuously thrown by the like of you, Book Worm

Or you can say he's learned a lot from his Wallaby coaching days. :)
But he came within a last-minute drop-goal of winning the world cup with Australia!?!
On a good day Japan can beat anyone in the top 10 but they're still not consistent enough to be considered tier 1
I like his straightforward, slightly gnarly, style. He's done wonders with England
I love the way he handles our negative press. and has no time for their stupid questions. He is like the grown up talking to children.
I'm really proud of this lot at the minute well done Eddie!
What Eddie has done, is create an amazing number one team, and probably one of the strongest benches I have seen since the World Cup of 2003. Eddie you are an absolute legend, and thank you for what you've done for the team.
Awesome to here that Wilko's involved.
I love the way this man carries himself.

This is heading to an England/New Zealand crescendo test match, well done to England and Eddie Jones.
what a GENTLEMAN,
I love this guy. Has worked wonders and seems a no bullshit kinda guy.
Nicola Sturgeon has called for a re-playing of the game on the basis that the majority of the Scottish people are not happy with this result.
This guy as totally transformed England rugby from the stuffy school boy characterless team that it was from Lancaster to maybe the best England team ever

eddie jones rinsing the scottish reporter . funny as fk
fucking legend
To think that if we win against Ireland it will set all sorts of records, including a double Grand Slam, and most consecutive wins in international rugby is so exciting
Cheers Eddie. Very switched on bloke.
4:40 - I actually didn't know Jonny Wilkinson was so closely involved in the current set-up...
He has created the greatest England team of all time.
Man... I can sense Eddie hates the press.
unlucky Scotland they seemed a bit nervous coming into the match, but their a courageous side.
+cbr500r. No question the Scots are on the way up. Loosing Hogg really hurt them. Plus England played really well in first 20 today . But the Scottish kept at it
and losing Hoggs replacement straight after wasnt good either
You get the feeling Eddie speaks his mind.. none of this meaningless pr speak were used to. Great work Eddie , all round
that Scottish reporter made a knob of himself or should i say Eddie made a knob of him haha!
The Press just do not get that JJ was not "Dropped". Eddie wants his team to progress and needs at least 2 more centres good enough for Internationals. You can only select 23 for the match. It is the long term , bigger picture Eddie is looking at

1 year into a 4 year project. Holy fuck we can be so good on that logic.
We have an awesome bunch of youngsters coming through, as well. The days of the Kiwis taking the Number one ranking in world rugby for granted maybe numbered.
Not taking it for granted is why the AB's are consistently number one or number two. England's downfall has traditionally stemmed from a mindset that's the polar opposite.

England are going to need consistency though for that, these narrow wins, like against France & Wales won't last.
R Hirshi consistency are you mad they've won 18 in a row a world record!
Anybody know the significance of his jacket (f it has any)? He seems to wear it every week.

No need to put the score in the title.
Who said Engla d are the top team in the world. The All Blacks are.

I doubt he has any interest in helping the Aussies after he was so unceremoniously kicked out.
