Well damn. Sega didnt release the best of games for a while until mania. Almost every gaming company experiments with different things. Bethesda wanted to try something new. Many did not like 76. Some did. Doesn’t make the whole company a train wreck. Besides how can you critique a game we haven’t even seen yet? No official gameplay nor release has been publicly announced.
@@jimmygunnz5651 There is such a thing as loving a game or a series as a piece of art and despising it as a product, particularly when everything that made said series great has been streamlined to a skeleton of a game and all of the original writers and designers have left.

Nedes: *exists*
Random Mer: Hippity hoppity you are now my property
The Falmer and Direnni were a lot nicer to them, especially the Falmer. Say what you want about the Night of Tears, but we don't know the whole story leading up to that point.
The fact the Falmer let them in through Skyrim from Atmora shows that the relations were good, probably until Atmorans kept on taking more and more land and probably started to become emboldened by their claim that Skyrim was their homeland.
Not justifying those that killed all in Saarthal, but the Falmer were really lenient and accepting as a race of Mer towards Humans. No slavery, no keeping them down in Lower Classes in a cast system, nothing, just neighbors.
@@thalmoragent9344 the elder scrolls wiki literally says that the atmorans, after The Return, inadvertantly liberated the Nedes after destroying the Falmer, implying that they weren't as nice as you're trying to paint them.
@@ignatiusvalentinez4184
Liberated the Nedes from who? The Falmer? They didn't take any slaves, that wasn't a Falmer institution.
They freed them from the Aylieds, definitely, the Direnni? No, they didn't actually, the Bretons and few remaining Nedes in High Rock stuck with the Direnni Elves till the Direnni had to leave to Adamantine Tower, since the war had done a toll on their numbers. In fact, that war against the Allesian Orders was one where Direnni Elves, Aylieds, and even Nords had all grouped up to fight the Allesian Order, a Faction of Men... so there's that for you
Don't forget the Aylied Allies who helped the Nedes in Cyrodiil and aided Allesia and her rebellion. They even stuck around and were actually needed to help make the first human Empire function in the first place.
The Wiki mentions how the Atmorans thought the Nedes in High Rock (actually, the Bretons) in High Rock were the product of Falmer and Nedes inter-breeding, and that "they were slaves from Saarthal", or something along those lines, but that doesn't fit with what Ysgramor said about everyone being massacred, now does it?
Nope, the Nords in that situation were dumbasses, that or they were most likely misinformed that there were other Mer in the province of High Rock, where relations between Man and Mer got better and had no slavery or torture or anything. Yes the Mer were at the top if their society, but given they came over with their Elven sophistication from their origins on Summerset, it makes sense the Direnni would try and he the rulers over the Men, who they simply had in their second and third class places in their Societal system.
Even the Bretons now, without direct Elven influence, still have a similar system, albeit a few changes, and more wars than under the Direnni. Seems the Direnni kept High Rock in better peace than the Humans... interesting.
@@thalmoragent9344 I read somewhere that after the Atmorans returned and the slaughter of the Snow Elves, the ancient nords kept some of the Falmer as slaves. That's how they built Windhelm.
@@TheTyler211995
True, they Slaughtered most of them but yeah, they did have a small amount of them to build Windhelm and used some to be slave scouts to help them travel through Skyrim and forcefully ask questions about the areas like where the Sky Forge was.
But yeah, outside of those 2 instances, most of the others were killed. The creation of Windhelm was also super brutal, a sad situation for my Falmer bois 😢
So the Nedes are basically the Aldmer of men.

Have you guys thought about doing a series reading ingame books in Skyrim, Oblivion and Morrowind?
Aside from a few books/series, in universe literature is exceedingly short.
That would be SO much fun! They use the in game books to a greater extent to flesh out their videos but I would also like to see the literature and histories of the world flung down the rabbit hole. There is so much you could do with it relating them to themes in the elderscrolls universe and how they relate to our own. Funny story, I had always wanted to play Skyrim when I was younger but never got the chance. Later on I watched someone playing and saw the title “Confessions of a Dunmer Skooma Eater” and was immediately hooked on finding all of the real world inspired books. It’s been a love affair ever since. 🥰
>Laughs in Cassius Curio
This is a great idea! And then they can do an in depth analysis on the books too

Morrorwind used to have a Nedic population but the Chimer, ancestors of the Dunmer, genocided most of them, remaining Nedes were probably deported and expelled some tribes murdered after the battle of red mountain when the Nords, likely with regiments of Nedic allies, lost the battle. The Nedes of Morrorwind died off. The remnants moved to Cyrodiil and Skyrim. Eastern Cyrodilians and Eastern Skyrimic Nords likely have Nedic ancestors from Morrorwind to some odd degree.
I've found that the names of things/races are very literal to their function in the elder scrolls universe (Hist trees = "history" of argonians), and the Nedes ("Needs") are named such as a reference for their need to be introduced to the lore of elder scrolls as something people can more easily identify with (Humans) and let them see themselves in the story more readily
Well, how does that go for the other races then? Any other name connections you can make?
This cleared up a lot of the confusion left from other merethic era lore. Thanks a ton!

This video is awesome. Would you consider to make another build video for Skyrim! Thanks
How did the oldmer make flesh sculpters? They just *Neded* them together
"some elves took that a bit too literally"
Lamae Bal survived into the Second Era, and there is no confirmation that she died, so the Nedes may not necessarily be extinct.
brmbly vampirism is a curse/blessing somewhat like lycanthropy, when/if you contract or are given it, it does not change your race.
Ex. If a nord becomes a vampire he is technically a nord with vampirism, at base he is still a nord and his race did not change.
Also extinct = all are dead
Endangered/brink of extinction = almost all are dead.
Ex. If there was only one panda left in the world and it was unable to reproduce, it would not be considered extinct until the panda died.
brmbly being declared extinct when it’s not actually extinct is called lying no matter the reason.

Hello, you’re my favorite Elder Scrolls Channel
Im still confused on what differentiates Durreni from Altmer and the Aylieds. Are the Durreni elves still alive or have they integrated with Altmer?
Pretty sure the difference between summerset altmer, alyids and Direnni is strictly cultural they were all high elves you might have some minor differences in anatomy between them like the Chimmer did from altmer before the curse but on the whole they are largely the same.
Von Faustien That's what I am getting from all of this. I feel Durreni were perhaps more open to change and cultural influences
Its too coincedental.

How can you have half-human half-elf children? Doesn't the modern canon (Racial Phylogeny) specifically say that a child will simply take the race of the mother plus minor traits of the father? (I have the feeling the real answer is game engine and lore simplification.)
elder scrolls lore is often written poorly and without thought -
It’s because of half breeds breed with other half breeds. Elven blood became so ingrained into them that they became a distinct race.
Generally the offspring bear the racial traits of the mother, though some traces of the father's race may also be present.
Quote from racial phylogeny above. I guess if you repeat the act (altmer mates with nede then produces altmer children with nedeic traits and nedeic children with altmer traits).
Mate the altmer children with nedeic traits to the nedeic children with altmer traits. Do it for a few generations and you have altmer with enough nedeic traits and needs with enough nedeic traits that they are no longer recognised as altmer or nedes.
Eventually altmer with nedeic traits and nedes with altmer traits converge as a new race (thus the bretons).
Great video

Hmmm, i wonder if the Skaal are part of the Nedes, separated from the rest of tamriel
So where exactly does the nords come from? Did they come from atmora or did Kyne breathed them into being at the throat of the world?
Old comment they came from atmora
The whole kyne breathed them on the throat of the world is just folk lore because it goes agasint the whole needic and atmoran migrations from atmora

This is what I nede tonight.
damn, i thought redguards were also descendants of nedes :0
curious what made you think that. the lore in the games makes it very clear they came later and from a different continent, not Atmora.
@@baneblackguard584 Not sure either, my brain probably went ''huh all humans are descendants of nedes right''' following the '' all mer were born from altmer '' thing. sometimes i forget Tamriel is supposed to be a representation of europe/eurasia fantasyland.
There is a theory all humans and elves started on tamreil before hitting the other continents Nords refer to the atmoran exodus as a return implying it wasnt the original homeland.
Assuming this isn't just mythology retroactively made to justify the invasion of skyrim it could mean the nedes, Atmorans, Akivari, ,yokudans, kothringi and bretons all share a common ancestor race instead of just the usually acepted nord, imperial, Breton trinity being atmoran decendents.
@@vonfaustien3957 oh the races of Men and Mer absolutely share a common ancestor, the Ehlnofey.
@@vonfaustien3957 The "Return" is in reference to the Nords' return to Skyrim after the Falmer massacred their first settlements and drove them out after the Night of Tears. Ysgramor and his sons sailed back to Atmora, garnered support for a full-scale invasion (made easier by Atmora's turn to ice) and so Ysgramor and his Companions "returned" to Tamriel to seek revenge and lay claim to a proper kingdom so the elves couldn't simply wipe them out again. What I want to know, is what role the dragons played in all this, seeing as how the Dragon Cult was alive and well in Ysgramor's time.
Send Nedes
R u ever gonns make an ultimate guide to imperials
Nords are part Nede. But Nedes aren't Atmoran. Nor are Atmorans Nedic. The Nords came as a mix of Atmoran and Nede blood.
But Atmorans aren't Nedes.
Yeah, and that makes them the cousins to the Imperials and Bretons. The Bretons came as a mix of Nede, Atmoran and Elven blood and the Imperials came as a mix of Nede and Atmoran blood.
@@Super50ldier the Imperials are more Nedic in blood and culture than Atmoran and the Nords are more Atmoran in blood and culture than Nedic.
Plus the Cold Skyrim climate and warm Cyrodilic climate diverged the features of both as well.
@@noahtylerpritchett2682 Yeah that's what I'm saying, these two human races are cousins to each other and the Bretons.
@@noahtylerpritchett2682 Because the Imperials born from the interbreeding of female Nedes and male Atmorans and while the Nords were born from the interbreeding of female Atmorans and male Nedes, which is why the Imperials look more Nedic and the Nords look more Atmoran.
The Sinistral elves went extinct in a war with the Yokudans. The Ayleids went extinct after the proto-Imperials revolted. And the snow elves went extinct at the hands of the nords. The elves' hatred of humans is, likely, partly out of fear.
The elves are arrogant supremacists who have, at every turn of history, thought that they men were wholly below them.
there are ancient men in blackmarsh???
GUYSS MAKE A VIDEO ABOUT "NON-MEN DRAGONBORN IS IT LORE-FRIENDLY?" i am really confused about this question..
I mean akotash (idk how to spell it) technically grants the “gift” of dragonborn so technically anyone could become a dragonborn
As far as I know, almost all of the known *true* Dragonborn were human: Miraak was a Nord (or perhaps proto-Nord?) and Alessia was a heartland Nede. Not sure what Reman Cyrodiil was, but he was likely Nedic or proto-Imperial. Tiber Septim was human, but that's about where consensus ends, as various sources claim he was Atmoran, Nord, Breton, Imperial... Simply put, his origin story is a mess.
The only real wild card is The Last Dragonborn. Skyrim advertisements portrays the LDB as a male Nord, but like most TES protagonists, they can potentially be any of the playable races.
There is some evidence that suggests Mankar Camoran, an Altmer (who was allegedly a Bosmer until he altered his physiology with Mehrune's Razor), was dragonborn, but nothing officially confirms it.
At the end of the day, Akatosh decides who is Dragonborn. That's about all we know for sure; if it would suit his purposes to have an Orcish or Argonian dragonborn, he would make it happen.
