When your kid wants to ride on your motorcycle with you you can talk about it all day long for me, you got to love them for plucking at your heart strings.
Keep rambling. I know exactly how you felt with your daughter on back. I took my 8 year old granddaughter on her birthday ( it was what she wanted for one of her gifts) just up my street and back and needed a valium when we pulled back in my driveway. The most terrified I have ever been on a motorcycle.
OMG, Thank you, I have been around and on bikes since I could remember and those bikes were always dressers. The engine guard was always the crash bars.
Yep. Picked up my daughter from school on my harley, finally wife said that kid gets hurt you'll never forgive yourself, so we as a family got dirt bikes, my girls grew up in the dirt. Only dad rides on the street.
That is soooo awesome! had me tearing up... my son is 6 and his mom doesnt want him riding with me until he can reach the foot pegs comfortably... cant wait.
Having your kids ride with you is very special. All 3 of mine did and ended up riding bikes too. Your vids are always entertaining and have me cracking up. Keep on being you, ProMo.
Any additional protection is a good thing. Some items to consider… Good riding outfit. Gloves Harley cool fan ( her right foot will thank you) Helite brand air vest or jacket. Watch Helite videos on you tube. I have both the adventure jacket ( for colder weather) and the air vest ( use that most of the year). Have fun!
Anything to help you feel safer having your daughter with you. I do like the look of those sliders. I have just started taking my 12 year old son on the bike with me. I'm a nervous wreck when I do. Always triple checking the traffic around us.
Love that look. Wanted to use similar style on my 16 Road Glide which is black quartz with gold striping. And would play nice with the ohlins rear suspension. But came to the realization that it wouldn't flow with all the chrome I have on it. So I actually just bought Vindikta bag guards in chrome that match my KST Spearheads. Definitely with you on the guards being functional as well as for aesthetics. Hope you and your daughter enjoy many miles together!
Our four girls loved Harley, snowmobile, and ATV rides when they were young. Then they got phones, now they have no interest in motor sports anymore. Cool crash bars. Now for a handle bar riser change.
I agree 100% about the name changes about crash bars, dresser, etc. I still call them by those names & some people have tried to correct me so have a big smile now & a few of them will see this video. Love your videos & hope you & your family have a great holiday season
Those 4 rear bolts / nuts for the saddle bag are a PAIN IN THE A$$. I swear HD did it to mess with the home DYIer. When I put the bag guards on the RG, I'm sure my neighbors were questioning my sailor like vocabulary, when it was the SGs turn, I made my husband do it while I instructed him. Guess what kind of language he used?! lol I missed the video on those sleek fairing turn signals. I like 'em.
Having rear crash guard, bag guards are an absolute must on touring bike. Saved my leg in an accident up in Laconia. Hit a deer going 50 and because of engine and bag guards I was able to slide out from the bike and just have some road rash.
The new frame guards, bag guard look good… thinking though that Advanblack needs to shorten the lower front bar to give it a bit more sporty look. Just a thought.. Advanblack Color Matched Handguards for sure needed.
Yea safety is key ,my son is twelve ha , so snow shuts us down here, but two seasons ,for him , you get it , I can't add crash bars as it would make my ride to wide to store in my garage , and yes the term crash bars is what they are you are 100%on that sport bike guys call them sliders ha ha
Just love these vids. Keep on rambling. Laughed out loud when you told us to freak off if we didnt like it. Btw, didn't pull the crash bar of my dyna when I bought the geezer Bro. Safety third.....
Had a friend who was just a master of the motorcycle. He had ridden from Tierra del Fuego in South America to the Arctic Circle. He had ridden all his life. Up by Steamboat Springs, Colorado, a mule deer, jumped out in front of him and ended Rich. So I now ride with a bright yellow helite airbag vest. I figure an airbag might give me a fighting chance if Im ejected, and the yellow might get a drivers attention coming up behind me. On my mustache engine guards, Ive installed running lights to help guard against left-hand turning cars. I did this after almost getting hit by a left hand turning car. And all my lights are LEDs.
They make an airbag vest now also....you may want to check into 1 of those for your daughter...I know Spite did a review on them...I believe it's made by Alpine Star
Your vids are awesome bro! Was hoping to meet you at the Smoke Out in Salisbury, but the $50 per entry was a little steep. Hopefully we will run into you all one day!
I ride completely different alone than i do with even my wife on the back. That being said, I ride even more different than that when i have one of my granddaughters on the back. I have 2 girls who love to ride with poppop. And I’m super safe and protective when they are back there. So I know exactly how you feel, about everything, the fear and the pride. My 6 year old granddaughter is so into it, she 100% knows the process to starting my bike, and if she had the hand strength to pull the clutch and hold it, she could start it lol
I know what your saying about safety with a little one on the back this summer my grandson wanted to go on ride with me and my friends. I told yes get your gear and ask your mom. So on are ride we are about 5 miles from are destination and I noticed his head was moving from side to side thought he was trying to look over my shoulder to see where we were at. No I was wrong his eye were closed scared the holy hell out me. On are way back home I Bungee corded to the bike so if feel a slep on the way back he couldn't fall off. He thought it was funny that I strapped him to the bike
Thats funnu my 15yo daughter plays clarinet guitar and drums in band, marching band, jazz band and drumline and rides with me alot.sounds like we raisin them right
You did a good job keeping it together, although it looked close for a bit. You could NEVER talk too much, that's why we're here with you. My wife wouldn't ride with me when the kids were young, convinced we'd make them orphans. So I took my daughter each summer in her teens. Blue Ridge Parkway, Adirondacks, Nova Scotia, Bar Harbor Maine, D.C., Dutch Country, all over. Each year a week long trip somewhere and never really planned just head in one direction. Always great father/daughter time that neither of us will ever forget. Enjoy it while she's young
Looks great glad to hear your daughter is riding with you cherish the time loved having my grandchildren riding with me. Moved to Florida 2 years ago and you right about riding down here. Missed you at biketober like to meet you sometime. Stay safe
Out of Washington State, I did my four corners this past summer. Florida was the only state where I had any close calls, 3. The closest was a lady who moved straight into my lane beside me after coming up from behind. She knew I was there. Look out for a white Tesla FL plate # 74E KSF.
I understand 100%. I loved it when my youngest liked to ride with me. Now she's about to graduate college and wants a bike. I'm debating if I think that she's safe enough to ride her own vs a Can-Am. I also understand different riding styles. 1 with a group, 1 with the wife and then a whole different thing with the guys.
Love it ❤as a dad I would ride my deuce and I would let go tuck and let her ride she loved it still does but she’s an adult now no more riding with the old man 😮
There is a tool kit on Amazon called gripedge that is supposed to grip stripped out allen bolts and torx bolts with ease and be able to put them back just the same still working on getting my set but they are supposed to be really good😊
Monk.. would you talk about that shelving unit you have behind you for all your quick release tour pack, etc? I know you did in an earlier video, but can’t find it. I want to get one, just curious what yours is.
Not a fan of those sliders. Smaller diameter stubby black delrin with a rounded bullet profile would be more my speed. Love the bars tho! The upper bolts on the front bar are slotted instead of drilled (an incomplete hole). Is that for frame protection? Designed to pop out instead of tweaking the frame under some conditional impacts?
My oldest turned 18 this past Oct, we went for our first proper ride together two weeks later. I’ve been waiting those 18 years for that ride. Got a little misty in my helmet.
They are designed really to provide lay down protection of your paint job. But they will..in some cases... Keep the bike weight off small legs. AND they look pretty cool.
Laughing. Went through something similar with my son at 5 years old. Same with a niece and now my GF granddaughter. The difference in the way you ride.😂
I put at bumper on my 2022 tri glide and I tightened the bolts with a ratchet and broke all the welded nuts free and I agree anything you can do to make the riding safer for your passenger is well worth it .Ain’t it great becoming a responsible parent and thinking safety first.
Power tools are like a pew pew, you have to respect the power of even the smallest ones, cause they can mess things up quickly and effectively if not used in the correct manner. 😂😂
Yep I also carry precious cargo my wife,I have follwed you for a long time since Sturgis vidios a few years back you were correct about the Alpine inn and many other things that made our trip great out there,So when you got to work with Advanblack I payed attention just bought my dream bike a 2024 Roadglide for retirement in a few years, so I went with Advanblack king tour pack and was looking at harley crash bars and was about to order, now I am interested in advanblack crash bars when will they be coming out L'm in Michigan got to be ready for spring any Idea when they will put these in production. And thank you for your RUclips content never miss it Thanks And like you said if they dont like the rambeling fuck em lol
Never wanted my son to ride but that did not work out. We ride together often but I still worry about him and he is 40. Always figured if I had not rode my whole life he might not have. Feel like if anything happens to him on a bike I would feel like it was my fault for leading the way.
Did a set of the harley bag guards in a motel parking lot in whitewood on a 24 street glide the day after buying it. That style is definitely cool if you don't care for the old hoop style.
You would think that style crash bar would dig right into the ground and be a terrible mess. What happened to the normal bars that were designed to slide?
Maybe a dumb question, but is the right saddlebag guard lower mount clearanced for the brake line? If not it will crush the line between the bar and the swingarm and destroy it, that line is currently on a 3 month backorder.
