Well said. There is no rule in music but the style dictates it. US market is tough over there, good talents in US are really a dime a dozen. Their base is in the Far East, and their strongest language is Chinese, so they should sing in Mandarin just based on sheer demographics in PRC, they have got the unique looks, what they need is to get a pool of good song writers and a real producer that has good ears for something innovative in terms of styles with edges. Stop conforming.
I wouldn't say their stuff is crappy... I think their more rock type stuff is different in terms of the typical love ballad sounding hits that dominate the chinese charts., but you are right. hey need to push the boundary more. Because of the vast languages they know and their unique style they could go a lot further.
I wish they tried to tap the U.S market. They could do well... They had a good start and the Chinese people love them, but it seems as though they have not progressed much further than that. I wish they experimented with different things, but I'm not sure what...
I disagree greatly. Soler is really trying make a breakthough with rock in China, and they are doing it. there needs to me more pop/rock bands in China.
