    Dylan, Thank you for being a theme park enthusiast that isn’t afraid to offer constructive criticism, specifically for Disneyland. Most influencers keep quiet bc they are on Disney pay roll or they believe Disney can do no wrong. I wish Fast Pass would come back Disney wasn’t built on the idea of a different experiences based on how much you are willing/able to pay. Disney has plenty of other places they can bring in profit. Fast pass gives everybody an equal opportunity. Keep up the awesome videos!

    I was a former VIP tour guide for many years. I agree with your sentiments. Disney didn’t honestly give us much. It was all up to us - the guide - to make the tour enjoyable. It was better during the Fastpass days and then slightly worse during the MaxPass days. Then it went to hell during Lightning lane. Can’t imagine what it’s like now. It was nice when we hosted celebrities because we would get access all tour guests should honestly get for what they pay for.
    It was a nightmare when Rise first opened because we didn’t have access and would have to pray we got a boarding group…. And then wait in the f**king line. Now I have ptsd. Haha 😂

    Fast pass was great, Max pass was best. I think they should get rid of lightning lane, increase ticket prices and build max pass into every ticket. Lightning lane is necessary to enjoy the park so Disney should make sure that all guests have it.

    Thank you for this! We just got back from our first trip to DisneyWorld and the lightening lane was an absolute joke. Waited at least 20 min for every ride we used lightening lane on and most were unavailable to book (“sold out”) after 11 or 12. The virtual queues were also terrible. Waited over 100 minutes to get on Tron after waiting all day for our group to get called. My husband was also upset that I had to be on my phone so much to book everything. It was just a mess. We will not be going back for a very long time. It’s a shame.

    I recently revisited Disneyland for the first time since early 2020. I had already ridden rise (through the scary lottery system 😨) so the only new ride was runaway railway. I forgot they even built it to be honest but I remembered right when we walked into the park. We went straight to toontown at opening and walked right on. I heard a lot of bad things about the attraction but it honestly made me feel that old Disney joy I hadn’t felt in years. The ride was pretty much on my mind all day and I realized they got rid of the only other ride that made me feel that way (splash mountain) i loved it so much we made it our last ride of the night at midnight. I really don’t get the hate for the attraction considering it’s such a joyful classic feeling Disney ride, the one that leaves you smiling days after you’ve ridden it. I was just kind of curious what you thought of the ride and if you think the hate it gets is fair or not.

    23:00 Super boomerang doesn't fit anymore with the expansion of the car ride, it BARELY fit before, down to the foot. Something like a Gael Force clone would fit though, offers extreme ejector forces. With the Merger, Knott's will be more a family/kid park like disneyland, MM will be more of extreme coaster park.

    Hello my Disney people! Dylan, thank you so much for this! I went to world for the first time ever in January! I have two kids on the spectrum and used the DAS for the first time ever. We were waiting for 30-40 minutes still and my kids CANNOT do that. It was so disappointing to me. It put a huge damper on everything and the trip was low rides because the amount of stimulation and waiting in line is just not in the cards for my kids. It breaks the part of my heart that just wishes I could have that magic experience back. We went from wanting to do all 4 parks to just doing 2 because it just wasn’t worth it for the cost. Hopefully y’all see this issue for children with needs. I’m even willing to show them my kids diagnosis at this point for them to take families like me seriously. Hope you see this and thanks again❤️

    • @ThemeParkObsessionDD
      @ThemeParkObsessionDD  6 месяцев назад

      See they need to have a better system especially with your situation. The experience needs to be more streamlined that way you and your family can experience the parks without stress or feeling like you’re not getting enough out of it. Let’s hope they fix the DAS experience soon.

    As someone who goes to USH and DIsneyland
    USH is just selling Genie Plus for more, it doesn't help the lines to make the prices insane people with money just buy it and the rest of us have to wait. At least at Disneyland, its a fair price. 30 bucks compared to the 100+ at USH is a steal, same with Knotts and Six Flags which those lines get insane because of people with passes getting to buy pass the line but Disneyland seems to get the most crap for it
    I think besides making an option for Magic Keys to be able to buy Genie Plus for the entire year, I a much happier with spending 30 bucks extra on a trip to the parks vs 100 at USH, Knotts or Six Flags.

    • @ThemeParkObsessionDD
      @ThemeParkObsessionDD  6 месяцев назад

      But Universal caps it at a much lower number unlike Disney. It’s noticeably lower and yeah Universal isn’t perfect but the system they use is superior imo.
      Needs to be a low cap and high price so the company can still benefit.

  • @bradkoerner1
    @bradkoerner1 6 месяцев назад

    LL should absolutely be limited to a very high-priced luxury experience, much like the foreign Disney parks. I think the real problem in the US parks is the feeling of being "nickel and dimed" to death. If Disney just raised prices to $200+ per day and eliminated all the incessant upcharges, the whining would drop substantially in the long run. People are ultimately paying the same overall amount, but wouldn't be reminded of it constantly.

  • @ItsameBS
    @ItsameBS 6 месяцев назад +1

    You are not using G+. The lines and waits look bad, but the average wait time with LL is 20 minutes or less once scanned. Scan time is maybe 5 minutes. The Standby line is what suffers. Fix the Maintenance/Ride repair teams due to the constant breakdowns. Update the way MEP LLs are given out when an attraction does breakdown. Fix the DAS abuse. Disney will not change except to raise the price slightly until there is a drastic downturn in guest purchases.

    • @ThemeParkObsessionDD
      @ThemeParkObsessionDD  6 месяцев назад +1

      The thing is there shouldn’t be 20 min lines in the LL, that defeats the purpose and takes the exclusivity out of the product. Too many people are able to purchase it and that’s the biggest issue.
      Maintenance is also a huge issue that I agree with, and the company sees it as an expenditure they don’t want to deal with which is not good.
      MEP should be treated like how it was in Tokyo. They had a really good way of approaching it.

    Pirates of the Caribbean didn't have FastPass when I went there in 2014. Cone to think of it, only six, seven, or eight rides at each of the two Disneyland parks had FastPass. What percentage of rides at each of the two parks would you say have Lightning Lane?

    My main problem is with the disability pass. Lots of people, including myself, use the pass because we can't stand in enclosed spaces with lots of people without having panic attacks. The fact that we're pushed into the lightning lane line, which could take just as long as the regular line, just defeats the purpose and is putting people who use the disability pass at risk.

    • @ThemeParkObsessionDD

    Agree with you 100% about the lightning lane at Disney. We stopped going because it's gotten too complicated and simply not worth it. Ive said for years now that they need to copy Universal on express passes and charge whatever $300, $400 I don't care I'll pay it to not have to deal with reserving every last second. We were so annoyed that we were going to book the VIP tour having enjoyed them at Universal even though it's nearly double the price of Universal but when she said you still wait in line and there's nothing included I said what a scam and never went back to Disney. That was 7 years ago!

I need to know so I can get behind what you are saying with confidence. Where do you get your numbers? Is it posted somewhere? As a Disney lover from Northern California I always purchase lightening lane because I only get to go once every year or two. I would pay $200 IF it was capped like you said.sounds like a good plan. As someone who just spent a day at Disneyland and another day at California Adventure, I agree that the Lightning Lane is broken and needs modifications. I will say, my wife and I got Lightning Lane both days and when it was our time window to go (which I recognize is an issue) we waited no more than 10 minutes, but mostly 5 or less. As people who had APs when Fast Pass existed, we were prepared for that amount of a wait and were both frustrated with it. That being said, the Standby lines, especially in Disneyland, were very frustrating and clearly caused by LL.

    Hello Dylan. Your thoughts about the way the situation is with lightening Lane is primarily how Dave and I are feeling. We have a disabled person who is wheelchair restricted and we were in standby for 3 1/2 hours in the queue for Radiator Springs racers. It was a terrible experience. We’ve not been back to ride. Other rides are getting just as bad. We don’t purchase genie+ or Lightening Lane, we can’t afford it. We wanted to tell you that we appreciate your feedback about the parks. Thank you! I was going to suggest it, but then you said it, and that is to cap the number of lightning lanes per day, or raise the price. $200 might be strep…maybe $150. Then cap the number to 10K. Speaking of coasters, what’s going on at the big parking lot coaster at Knott’s/Six Flags? You are correct in that Knott’s Boysenberry Festival bis better than Food n Wine at Disneyland. Sorry, but my SeaWorld is gone…it didn’t need that many coasters. I can’t wait to see the new coaster at Uni Holly. Thank you so much, Dylan.

    Someone has serious feelings on Lightning Lane. It does seem like a mess. I was at Hollywood Studios in 2021 when they had Genie. That was terrible.
    Universal has a good pass system. They have two options, single ride and unlimited, and both have pricing based on how busy the park.
    The 3D was only effective on Kong if you sit in the middle seats. It needs more practical components.
    I have plans to go to HHN in Orlando in late September.
    As always, love your videos. You are one of the few people to put time and effort into the production of your content.

      Universal continues to beat its previous years attendance records so idk what you’re talking about. And also Disney would have to raise the price because no way a giant corporation is going to just cap Genie+ and take a loss from previous quarters. If you cap it you must raise the price to see the same return.

    tl;dr - Too many LL queue guests allowed per day, reduce the number back to FP numbers as a hard cap and tell guests who complain about having to wait after paying to pound sand, after all Disney is basically saying that to the guests who pay they just don't pay more.
    I knew before Lightning Lane hit day 1 that it was going to be a problem specifically because of the price point they set things at, because other parks had their versions essentially double the cost of a day's ticket if you wanted to skip lines, and in those parks there's not a huge problem with line skipping ruining the standby (usually). But the biggest issue with Lightning Lane isn't the amount of people that buy it, it's the fact that there doesn't seem to be much of any cap to how many people can reserve a spot, with Fastpass there was a limited number of passes a machine could give in a day, you rope drop Indiana Jones, then after you ride it go grab a FP you might have a return window of 3pm. FPs were a limited quantity item, and if they ran out they ran out, there was no more line skipping to be had.
    Unfortunately with LL they have a financial responsibility to the people to buy it to keep them happy, if 50% of the park is getting it realistically you should only be able to skip 3 or 4 rides a day with only 1 or 2 being big E-ticket type rides, remember what Disney said with FP+ as WDW? "On average people get THREE FPs a day" which is why FP+ allowed you to reserve three before hand, and then as you used them up having more available was an option, but THREE A DAY! Meanwhile one of the DisneyFoodBlog reports on this found they got 12 of 16 rides with LL at MK, 4 of 8 at Epcot, 5 of 5 at AK, and 8 of 8 at HS. Basically they are not limiting anyone on how many line skips a day, and the net result is what you see, people get frustrated watching 10 LL people go through for every 1 standby guest, doesn't matter if there aren't any LL people at the join point they still hold the standby line if they see someone entering way down the LL queue line. Those upset people vow to not be screwed so they get Genie+, now more people get LL and standby guests have two options, buy Genie+ or demand a refund from the park for the system ruining their day and then they're out all the travel expensive, hotel expenses, etc.
    While bumping it to $200+ a day is a good place to start, but I still think there needs to be limits on how many lines you get to skip, otherwise what makes it different than the VIP experience that used to let you skip every line? (Pre LL days). I personally think LL can work as it's current costs and numbers who buy it, but the amount of reservations need to be HARD capped and that cap needs to be CONSIDERABLY less than what it is now, like no more than 5% of the ride capacity per hour can go to LL, and if there is a breakdown on the ride LL does NOT get priority to clear the line first, tough sh*t, 5% of the guests max. But Disney has to be strong for the people that complain that they were only able to get 3 line skips with Genie+ or whatever, this is largely what happened early on at WDW too many people got it, some people knew how to game the system more than others and Disney put out a statement that said "you should expect to get between 2 and 3 per day" but again, the article referenced above got 12.
    Now unfortunately the problem is that Genie+ only sells what it sells today because life is absolutely horrible for standby guests, which then in turn makes standby even more horrible, and then LL starts to become a pain too, so if they did end up making it so only 5% of queue space goes to LL then they wouldn't sell as many Genie+ packages, and hence not make as much money. And unfortunately the bean counters at Disney only care about the bottom line, they don't give a rats arse about peoples enjoyment in the park as long as that dollar number doesn't dip, and unfortunately peoples enjoyment would coincide with them making less money.
    I have to say, it really ****ing pisses me off what Disney has done with the whole LL thing, because I refuse to pay extra when ticket prices are already so high, and I also refuse to go to a place that I have loved because the cost of admission doesn't mean jack sh*t for enjoying your day.

      If they cap it at 5k a day at $200 a person I’m all for it. I hope they do.
      Would be a better experience for everyone.

    Disney needs the income now more than ever, and the parks are supporting other areas of Disney’s business, so they are not going to get rid of lightning lane/Genie Plus anytime soon.

    So how do you feel that Walt Disney World and Company is considered the worst theme parks in the United States?

      I believe you’re referring to the article about it being too expensive or not valuable? If so I mean here’s the thing. All the theme parks are getting out of hand when it comes to price at least here in the United States. Things should be costing that much.

      It’s not even about people being poor. It’s just about providing value.
      A venue selling a VIP ticket that everyone can purchase doesn’t make it exclusive, it just turns into a normal ticket.
      The service has to be priced high for the company to make the same money in order to cap it at a low # that benefits all parties.
