  • In this video I check the tappet clearance on the Massey Ferguson 135 Multipower.
    With no1 piston at top dead center you can set tappets, 1,2,3 and 5 and with one full turn of the crank then set no 4 and 6. I was getting mixed up from setting too many 4 cylinder Fergys. lol.

      @@BundyBearsShed Acording to the Volvo usermanual i should use a 0.30 spacer and so i did. Turned the flywheel over a few times until i found the mark, there was allmost no compression. Then i adjusted valve 1,2,3 and 5 but when i tried to turn the flywheel again, i had to go get a tool, because now it had some serious compression on 2 of the cylinders 😀
      After a tesdrive i noticed that the oil pressure gauge was acting funny. whan taking off from the roadside the needle would go op to normal pressure, and drop down to almost zero, then i would come back up to normal again and as i was driving a full speed it would sometimes drop down and come back up again. It has never acted like this before.. what could be the cause of it..??

    In my industry t manual it shows a pointer on the timing hole of the engine, I could see kne kn my 135, then I looked closely and saw a little mark similar to a punch mark, just if that helps anyone.

      Its easy or should I say close enough just rocking the valves if you cant find the mark

    It takes nimble fingers to use three wrenches and a feeler gauge all at the same time!

    Just a thought Lance. You had trouble filming the timing mark on the multipower because of the filter being in the way. Would this be a chance to use the Banggood endoscope you trialed. You could use the flexible camera end of the endoscope to film the timing mark, use the image on the endoscope viewing screen to demonstrate to camera the timing marks that are not visible otherwise, or via a short video clip of the timing mark recorded on the endoscope then grafted into the piece on edit.

    Hi Lance for AD3.152 as per book 0.010 for hot and 0.012 for cold butt they didn’t mention temperature range. Some mechanic are doing setting 0.010 for intake and 0.012 for exast is that setting correct? What can feel after starting engine. As per book all valve having one setting. Please reply asap. For South Asia I think we should follow 0.010 hot weather setting.

      0.010 inlet and 0.012" exhaust after getting the engine hot enough to open the thermostat re check the head and re set the tappets. Do it again after 100 engine hours and it will be good for ages.

    Will the adjustments of .010/.012 gap be the same on a AG3.152 gas perkins be the same as what you showed here for the AD3.152? Also, the same procedure of 4 & 6 then rotate 360 then adjust 1, 2, 3, & 5?
    Thank you!

      G Day Charles, Im not sure as when you are set up to do axles I do both tractors but possibly the 6 speed as the engine and axle etc are already done.

    Hi lance all the valves are sat at 12 thou

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  5 лет назад +1

      Yes by the book but I set mine at 0.010' and I think they run well like that. And being a fiddler I check mine often and the valves open a bit further. Just my choice.

  • @airport4173
    @airport4173 3 года назад

    you HAVE NOT set valve gaps to 12 thou------ you set CAM FOLLOWER to ROCKER GAP 12 thou...... AND BECAUSE THE ARMS ARE longer TO THE VALVE---- the valve gap will be TOO LARGE / NOISY.

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  3 года назад

      Yeah I realised later on, you often dont think too straight filming, Tractor runs beautifully though but I did do a re set after getting it hot.
      This was a while ago, old video now.
