Hi! This is Chie. I'm very happy that many people have recently watched the video I uploaded two years ago. I apologize for not being able to reply to each comment. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude. There is one thing I would like to clarify. In the middle of the video, there is a scene where my Korean friend at the time says, ""I guess you'd say the same thing if you traveled to North Korea" What he meant to say was, "No matter which country you go to, you only focus on the positive aspects and turn a blind eye to the negatives," and he just used North Korea as an example. He never meant to say, "The Philippines is similar to North Korea." Please understand this correctly. Once again, thank you so much for watching the video, loving it, and supporting me!
you dont have to clarify... there will always be viewers with reading comprehension difficulties.... what matters is there are more who understand than those who dont...
at first I was shocked but after I continue watching what he meant was you were just looking at the good side and not seeing the bad side, btw it was a great story ❤
What a beautiful video, i’m touched. I hope you are doing well nowadays. I myself am Filipino living overseas and married to a japanese woman. Life is not easy but that beautiful way of thinking is truly a blessing ! Thank you for making this video and inspiring people like me about how blessed we are. ✨
I don't bother looking for lost things if I want to be happy I do it for the sake of happiness and nothing else. If you lived in Rome would you live like Romans or Italians? Live for yourself and nobody else.
I'm from the Philippines currently living in Japan as a teacher. It's true, Japan is clean, orderly and progressive but it comes with a lot of problems also. When I first came here, I thought I will be happy because I've always dreamt of living in this amazing country of yours. After 1 year, that's when I came to realize that I'm not as happy here compared to when I was living in the Philippines. Yes, the salary in the Philippines is very low but I was happier. People here are not approachable, and the sense of community is somewhat lacking. I can't even make friends with our neighbor. There's like a big, invisible slogan here that says "I mind my own business, you mind your own". I always go back to the Philippines whenever I have time because I really miss the people there. It doesn't compare the happiness I feel whenever I'm with my people.
I feel you sister. I am also an OFW before. 2 years in Saudi Arabia, 2 years in Dubai and 4 years in Abu Dhabi. There is no place like home. 8 lonely years spent in foreign countries 😢.
I felt the same when I studied in Tokyo. I didn’t miss Filipino food as much as I missed the Filipino people. There is such a big difference in the interaction of the people in the Philippines. In Japan, I had a hard time making Japanese friends because they are always too busy or they have an invisible wall around them. I couldn’t even whistle a tune or sing randomly in public because there is an unspoken rule of not bothering people. I love Japan as a tourist but maybe not as a resident. I’d love to travel there again for a longer time…but my heart is still in the Philippines where people smile at you and make heartfelt conversations. My Japanese is getting rusty in the Philippines because I don’t have anybody to practice speaking Japanese with. I need a Japanese friend who I can also teach English to while learning more Japanese in return. 😅
I can understand this one. Last Christmas, an uncle of us was video calling while he was in the US and he cried tears when he saw us all waving in the camera greeting him Merry Christmas. I realized then how much of a blessing it is to be living here in the Philippines. Not much material stuff and outer beauty in the surroundings, but people are mentally and emotionally happy.
Emptiness in itself has something to offer. LIVING in the Philippines will teach you how to slow down, rest, enjoy the scenery, and be thankful. Thankful that your house didn't wash away in a flood. THankful that the yearly typhoon didn't blow the roof off my house. THankful that you have a full belly at the end of the day. I am GLAD that you make these videos, and i pray that you keep on posting. #godblessMABUHAYkakapatid
I really relate to what you said. When I was in Japan, I lost even the feeling of being moved by the scenery. Coming to the Philippines made me remember many important things. I am very grateful.
The story is profound. The random gratuitous cat segment is probably the best scene. That cat sleeping in the storage compartment of the scooter reminds of us to be chill and find Zen wherever we may be or whatever situation we are in.
We Filipinos are not rich nor poor but we are proud to serve to anybody including foreigners who to come to our place just to make them happy. There happiness are also our blessings from God.
Thanks for sharing. Filipinos are a warm and hospitable people, and we welcome all foreigners to our land. Many Filipinos don't have a problem with foreigners immigrating and living in the Philippines. Unfortunately, there are some foreigners who, despite being shown generosity and hospitality by Filipinos, look down on our country and people. These foreigners I am talking about are the ones who have immigrated to the Philippines and opened businesses here because in their countries they had more difficult lives. Here they find success because Filipinos are welcoming and have patronized their businesses. But despite this success, these foreigners look down on Filipinos and say bad things about Filipinos. We don't want those kind of foreigners in our country. We want foreigners who are like you - people who are appreciative of our country and people. We want foreigners like you to stay because you can add positivity to our country.
Thank you for watching my video! In the Philippines, everyone is really kind and friendly to us. I feel very sorry after reading your comment. There are some foreigners who look down on the Philippines without trying to understand it. I myself may have unintentionally engaged in such behavior. I realized that I need to be more careful. Thank you for your kind comment!
I definitely agree with donniebrasco on his comment. Thank you for highlighting that. Thank you chie for your point of view of the phils. Those are the everyday lives of filipinos. And the person who told you, your problems are rich kids problems, thats true. Life in the phils is simpler and relaxed. No social pressures. Our problems are different, corruption and the govt. We laugh at problems we encounter, even if there is flood and storm. Enjoy your life in the Philippines. You are welcome here. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and Dumaguete. I am now your new subscriber. I love Japan, btw. I went there and I got fascinated. I would also love to experience staying longer in japan.
This was recommended to me by RUclips. I thought this is just another vlog. But as I read through your captions, I was telling myself that this is poetry. This video made me feel the same way as how Kimi No Nawa did their opening. Highly introspective and somewhat motivational. ❤
Wow. Thank you for sharing. You did this video 2 years ago, and it is still a wonderful story to tell. keep the positivity and I hope you have more local friends. don't be afraid to make a connection with the locals. for sure, time will come when you find a local family who would welcome you as their own.
Thank you for sharing your story Chie. Living abroad does not entice me, not because of comfort or familiarity. But I just love my country, despite all the negatives. The stillness, the sound of the neighborhood, the smell of the morning and the sea brings me peace. I hope one day I can go back and live in the province.
Thank you for watching! I feel like the Philippines has a lot of things that modern Japan has lost. Of course, every country has its good and bad sides, but living in the Philippines feels very comfortable for me at the moment. I hope that you will live a place where your heart can be at ease and you will spend peaceful days in the future.
I have a few Japanese friends who decided to live in the Philippines. They are intrigued by the World War II history between the Philippines and Japan and we have visited many historical sites from Bataan to Tarlac as well as the other places all over the Philippines. We have also retraced the steps of General Yamashita hoping to know more about his life. Welcome to the Philippines!
Randomly stumbled on this video and I wasn't expecting to watch something this profound. I am Filipino and appreciate your honesty about our country. The effects of the pandemic have greatly affected my life (financially and emotionally) and after learning about your story and what you have to go through I feel a sense of relief and motivated. I hope you find happiness where ever you may be and I look forward to watching your other videos.
Thank you for watching my video! Actually, when I made this video, I didn't imagine that so many Filipinos would watch it, so I feel a little embarrassed. I am very grateful that many Filipinos have received my story as it is with kindness. Thank you very much!
"Your problems are the problems of a rich kid." your teacher sounds very Filipino. I always say the same thing to my wife. She has an existential crisis and always asking herself about her worth. They were rich when she was a child. I was born into a regular family. We're chill and happy-go-lucky but raised as tough as nails. This kind of problem in the Philippines was (mostly) the problem of the privileged and wealthy people. I'm happy for you. If you feel sad and depressed again, Filipinos will support you emotionally(not financially 🤣🤣). No pressure here. Just cheer up and do what your heart wants, Ganbatte kudasai!
Thank you for your kind comment! I deeply empathize with your wife😂 Filipinos are cheerful, resilient, and often very kind to foreigners like me. Being in the Philippines made me feel more energized. I'm very grateful.
it's a very dismissive thing to say. galing ako sa hirap but I would never brush off kung ano mang pinagdadaanan ng tao. you're not trying to see from their perspective kung yun ang sasabihin mo. at least try to have some empathy. iba iba talaga hinaharap ng bawat tao. at least acknowledge mo yung pinagdadaanan nila and not just brush it off as spoiled rich kid or first world problems. and personally I don't think it's a first world problem. She was talking about hitting a ceiling. It's a career problem. Kahit sino namang may career na iniingatan mararanasan yan at some point. it sounds like you don't support your wife enough.
I randomly stumbled upon this video. You're a great writer, it made me teary a little bit as I felt the same - feeling worthless and all that. I hope you're feeling better now.
I have stumbled upon your video featuring the Japanese family of four where the father works as a site supervisor/manager. I admire your story and hope that you continue to consider Philippines as your second home, even though our country has a lot of flaws. Our welcoming attitude and probably generosity could bring a smile to your face. Keep it up and i like the content of your videos, hoping you would create more 😊
Wow..thank you for sharing your story...your words are what i am feeling about my life....i am also planning to live in the Philippines..i hope we can meet...please share your other personal stories...how the Philippines changed you....just found your channel...it helps me to prepare myself for the move...new subscriber 😊❤
Now I know a little bit of your lifestory,I’m fascinated by your adventures in my country,or you can call it your country also,There are so many things to say as I myself is foreigner living in Japan ,but for now I say thank you for the images that I am binge watching lately, take care!
Thank you for watching my story. I see you are living in Japan! For a long time, I only knew about Japan. But coming to the Philippines has taught me a lot. I hope you will continue to enjoy my videos😊
Just watched your video.. truly inspired, I'm 46 y.o living in the USA and I must say I am at the point to find and live happy and simple life thank you for sharing.
this is a really deep reflection on how we must live our life. sometimes comfort doesnt happiness nor happiness can give us comfort. life is may be journey of struggle yet were blessed enough to enjoy some moments of it.
Exploring the world and broadening your horizons is the best choice for those people who are stuck in life and feel no sense of purpose anymore because of the pressures of the working society. Thank you for sharing your story to us. It was very touching and made me realize a thing or two whenever I would feel down and worthless in the future.
Thank you for watching my video! Your comment really touched my heart. If I ever lose sight of my life's purpose again, I want to travel and broaden my horizons again.
Aw, Chie-san, those are such beautiful words. The world is big, explore and have fun. There's always good and bad in every place and it will be up to you on how you will enjoy life. Ika-nga, "Huwag mong problemahin and problema. Hayaan mong ang problema ang mamroblema sayo." 😂
It’s very interesting story. I am praying you’ll always find joy and happiness in everything together with the people around you. God bless you always! 🙏🏻🤗🫶🏻
chie-chan, you really hit it at 03:16... though in other perspective it is wrong but it feels right at the same time. "why worry about the things you can't control, let loose and live a little" hoping for nothing but the best for you, a new fan from the Philippines goodluck :)
Thank you for sharing, It's my hometown Dumaguete City and I missed it very much of the simple life I had. I understand what you are implying since I live in Chicago now, life is fast paced and there are times you wonder "why I am Here." You made me realized how much I missed the simple life, the peace & Happiness , the carefree life you longed for without judgement! Hope to visit my country once again:)
Watching this again after seeing your other videos, I feel that with this video you've essentially formed your personal mission statement. Proud of you chie-san!
When I moved to the US coming from the Philippines, I realized that every place have their PROS and CONS. The other place isn't necessarily better, but it gives you a change of perspective. I miss the Philippines everyday since I moved here, but that doesn't mean I'm not that thankful in having the opportunity to move somewhere else. My mom was born in a province (Ilocos Norte). There's something really therapeautic in moving to such rural places. I guess I have to agree that you don't need to be special to have a place to belong. You just need to find that place.
I am very happy for you. ❤ I love life in the province. I live in different places in the Philippines. Manila for work. Province for every thing else. I don't like Manila compared to the province but when I'm not alone it's not so bad. But the province is really something else. There's this feeling of peace and security I cannot explain.
You said it perfectly that's how I tell the Philippines to my foreign friends just truth no sugar coating I don't want them to expect too much like in a paradise. I can only say one thing we love to laugh and smile😅
I don't know or maybe I understand how you feel that's why I was feeling so emotional watching you tell your story. I hope that our country can remain a safe place for you where you can smile and take it easy day by day. While it's true that living here is not all that easy, but I think I still want to live here. Have a nice day my friend.
I'm an American and I don't live in the Philippines. But your story, it touched my heart that I want to see things more clearer. Thank you for sharing this.
You almost make me cry... 😢 So happy for you. As a Filipino living abroad, I can clearly perceive the contrast between living in the Philippines and here. Making money, buying luxury goods, and keeping up with the world at large are the main concerns of the individuals living here. Life here moves at a breakneck speed, and I sometimes feel like I am drowning. They sometimes forget to appreciate their lives.
I really like the vibe nad natural approach of your vlog. God bless you more. Thank you for sharing your inspiring story. Continue inspiring others. Such strength is beautiful, continue sharing your beautiful stories.
Thank you for this inspiring video. After watching till the end, it made me grateful for the things that I have, the place where I'm at and to cherish the people in my life. Thank you! More power!
As a Filipino housemaid in the Middle East all I wanted was to survive. But when I arrived here in the year 2000 my world started to open up. Part of me was living vicariously as an Arab. The world and being in it after all is exciting. So many things to discover about ourselves too.
I grew up in Manila but my parents are natives here, I must say I prefer here because all of your needs are walking distance plus it is much cleaner and greener here, the only issue I have are power outages and people doesn't like where I came from (people here are irritated to manila people) so it took 2 years for me to know how to adjust and blend and more importantly speak bisaya.
I too am very troubled by the power outages in Negros Oriental. I work online with a Japanese company, so it really bothers me lol. I see. I have heard such stories from my acquaintances too. He said, "People here don't like people from Manila, and people from Manila don't like people from here." Actually, many Japanese people also have a personality that doesn't like people from other places. But I feel that many Japanese, unlike Filipinos, cannot be kind to foreigners. That is my personal opinion.
@@dial11 yeah when I first got here my cousin warned me about discrimination and he is right even teachers and university heads will give you a poker face while shaking your hand when they discovered you are from Manila, well what you can do is just speak there language and never brag about being a city boy but then sooner or later they will gonna find it out thru social media hahahaha. Japanese people are defensive with there culture that is why maybe many are not friendly with tourists they don't want your country to be runned by foreigners like for example big businesses owned by foreigners or you have your lands being bought by foreigners, also probably they don't want to be influenced by foreigners because that could erase some of your countries identities or qualities.
@@dial11 People from manila don't hate bisaya it's just they made fun of them for a looong time because they treat them as uneducated, stupid and ignorant people which is wrong and in defense to this bisaya learned to hate manileños to the point of even some pedicab drivers telling people here who are speaking tagalog not to speak it here since this is visayas or yeah discrimination in schools and work place. 1 of the few reason why this country is slowly progressing is because of resentment from geography to religion whereas other countries are united or care about each other (Taiwan and Vietnam)
don't worry your English not good pinoy people you are so anderstand ma'am in joy your day injoy you life end be happienis your safe hear in the Philippines 😊
I hope there's an English sub, but anyway, thank you for staying in the Phil. The weather is hot but I prefer this than the thick ice laying on the house door, needing cleanup every morning.
I've often thought that if the world wasn't separated by language, economics, and other obstacles, we might find a rustic village in rural Japan dotted with people from Africa, northern Ireland, Chile and a dozen other places. All drawn to stay and make roots in a place and culture that, in their travels, they found to feel like home. I look forward to that world.
Subscribed. Philippines is not Rich in material things but it is rich in natural resources and friendly people. Enjoy your stay here. Hope to see you one day you can speak English fluently in your videos.
To my fellow.Filipinos , in our quest for a better life , let us not forget our values and culture of family ,kindness and sense of community..the world should sit up and see what they can learn fr Filipinos..

Hi Chie, hope you can post more about how the Philippines has broadened your perspective on money, love and life over the years you've lived there.
I don't bother looking for lost things if I want to be happy I do it for the sake of happiness and nothing else. If you lived in Rome would you live like Romans or Italians? Live for yourself and nobody else.

Foreigners who are honest, good and kind like you, are always welcome to the Philippines and Dumaguete City, the City of Gentle People.

Such a beautiful and a profound reflection of life. Thanks for sharing.
A beautiful reflection about the Philippines by a heartfelt sincere poet from Japan. Arigato.
Just watched your video.. truly inspired, I'm 46 y.o living in the USA and I must say I am at the point to find and live happy and simple life thank you for sharing.
I cried for 9:22 minutes straight. There is space for you anywhere, there will always be space for you here in the Philippines. ありがとう
this is a really deep reflection on how we must live our life. sometimes comfort doesnt happiness nor happiness can give us comfort. life is may be journey of struggle yet were blessed enough to enjoy some moments of it.
Thank you so much!
I deeply sympathize with your words.
I'm binge watching all of your contents and they are all great! I do hope you'll have a great success in this YT channel.

Sweet mango in the Philippines❤
That was beautiful.. Thank you for sharing. 😊
詩はグラスに注がれたマンゴーのように滑らかだ。The poetry is as smooth as the mango poured into the glass.
This video hits me. Thank you so much . More blessings for you. 🌹❤
Thanks for watching!

God Bless you Chie 🙂♥️
chie-chan, you really hit it at 03:16... though in other perspective it is wrong but it feels right at the same time.
"why worry about the things you can't control, let loose and live a little"
hoping for nothing but the best for you, a new fan from the Philippines goodluck :)

I wish you all the very best in life! 😀👍❤
Thanks for watching the video!
I am very happy to hear you say so.
I am so grateful to the Philippines for expanding my horizons😊
Thank you for sharing, It's my hometown Dumaguete City and I missed it very much of the simple life I had. I understand what you are implying since I live in Chicago now, life is fast paced and there are times you wonder "why I am Here." You made me realized how much I missed the simple life, the peace & Happiness , the carefree life you longed for without judgement! Hope to visit my country once again:)
Wow your story is very inspirational good luck to u and stay healthy. God bless
Wow.. Your words are full of wisdom.. I admired your positiveness. Thank you for sharing your vid.
Back then all are province.. in city is ok,but its boring weak. Province da best
You said it perfectly that's how I tell the Philippines to my foreign friends just truth no sugar coating I don't want them to expect too much like in a paradise. I can only say one thing we love to laugh and smile😅
Thank you for sharing your story. And now i am a subscriber.
Haven't finished the vid yet but tears started falling. I think I am in the same situation with you right now. I feel the need to go somewhere else. 😢
I don't know or maybe I understand how you feel that's why I was feeling so emotional watching you tell your story. I hope that our country can remain a safe place for you where you can smile and take it easy day by day. While it's true that living here is not all that easy, but I think I still want to live here. Have a nice day my friend.
Really good at story telling. I was engaged till the end.
I like your sensibility. I visited Japan two months ago. Loved the trains, food and heated toilet seats.
I'm an American and I don't live in the Philippines. But your story, it touched my heart that I want to see things more clearer. Thank you for sharing this.
Great story and experience from you my friend, I hope you find Joy and Love in the Philippines 🇵🇭 ❤😊. Take care always.
Hi chie, i was entertained watching you videos and expressing your thoughts
Amazing video Chie! Appreciate yourself Chie because we are lucky that a wonderful human was born from your wonderful parents.
❤ I am glad i stumbled upon your video. Incredible and touching story. You are welcome here to stay as much as you like 😊.
Wow, thank you so much!
I appreciate your kind comment😊
Is not all sunshine and rainbow in the philippines but it will be a unique experience hope you find peace
You almost make me cry... 😢
So happy for you.
This is so relaxing to watch. Thank you for this, Chie-san!
I really like the vibe nad natural approach of your vlog. God bless you more. Thank you for sharing your inspiring story. Continue inspiring others. Such strength is beautiful, continue sharing your beautiful stories.
Beautiful story! Thank you from Florida.
I love this kind of videos
It's a brave move.. cheers to that..we only have one life theres no going back just go forward and follow your heart and see where it will take you..
This made me 😢. We're not rich like other countries but we are special in so many different things. ❤
Glad you found englightenment and happiness
Love your story ❤
Arigatou ❤

Thank you for this inspiring video. After watching till the end, it made me grateful for the things that I have, the place where I'm at and to cherish the people in my life. Thank you! More power!
Oh...
I really appreciate your words!
Thank you so much!!
nice perspective. thanks for sharing
What a GREAT story. Thank you for sharing this and stay positive.👍❤️
Your so intelligent just look and learn some moments which you donot compare expecting what would you like to be in yourself ,GODBLESS
As a Filipino housemaid in the Middle East all I wanted was to survive. But when I arrived here in the year 2000 my world started to open up. Part of me was living vicariously as an Arab. The world and being in it after all is exciting. So many things to discover about ourselves too.
Thank you RUclips Algorithm for recommending this vlog 😘😘😘😘
After 2 years, this has been recommended to me. I hope you're living a good life.
He said, "People here don't like people from Manila, and people from Manila don't like people from here."
Actually, many Japanese people also have a personality that doesn't like people from other places.
Nice.vlog..hope.you enkoy tour stay in the Philippines..keep safe and God bless
I've often thought that if the world wasn't separated by language, economics, and other obstacles, we might find a rustic village in rural Japan dotted with people from Africa, northern Ireland, Chile and a dozen other places. All drawn to stay and make roots in a place and culture that, in their travels, they found to feel like home. I look forward to that world.
Only fear keeps us from enjoying life.. Live life to the fullest and enjoy every adventure wherever life will take you.
Subscribed. Philippines is not Rich in material things but it is rich in natural resources and friendly people. Enjoy your stay here. Hope to see you one day you can speak English fluently in your videos.
I'm currently working and living in Japan for almost 2 years now, Japan my have it's Disneyland but Philippines is the happiest place on earth.
To my fellow.Filipinos , in our quest for a better life , let us not forget our values and culture of family ,kindness and sense of community..the world should sit up and see what they can learn fr Filipinos..
