Yeah except the knots will bleed through the paint and turn brown. It doesn't matter what you do. You can't stop it. Not even oil based primers and paint works. 😊

Caulk drywall where it meets can lights. All those small gaps add up to lots of air leakage. Obsessed with air leakage. Good stuff.
Matty this is an unreal video. Great execution on the message you want to portray while taking in the feedback of the viewers. This video was OG style, very detailed oriented while while maintaining great entertainment value. More focus on the details and the actual work while maintaining being great to watch.

I'm 100% with you Matt on flat walls. Glossy walls show off all the imperfections, ESPECIALLY those super tall walls. Yes, they smudge a little more than paint with sheen but flat looks so much "softer" than anything with sheen. As for cleaning it. A decent quality paint even in flat will wipe down and clean up ok.
I absolute love flat paint but had trouble with cleaning. Ended up going with Satin but I also have kids.
You gotta get Mike in on the drift sesh! Would be great content, and well deserved.

Tip for the future, with the short pins use an old bit holder without a pz/ph bit and slot it over the top, stops the spinning of the pz/ph in the head of screw 👍🏼
I like the exposed beam look... Normally closet systems dont do anything for me but that color is great... Can't wait to see it done!
I’m glad the designer talked you out of the grey ceiling. I do think the closet being grey will age poorly. I think a natural warmer wood color will look better in the future.
Overall, I think all of the current grey on grey on grey and faux farmhouse stuff is really overdone and played out at this point. We’re going to have landfills of grey LVP before too long. 😂
Styles are always changing, what matters is that Adam and Collette get what they want now. It may go out of style but it will age well.

I came across the Obsessed Garage RUclips channel sometimes during the holidays.
I have binge watch the Adam LZ renovations serie and since then many more videos going all the way back 3-5 years.
I could listen to the OG team all day long and I wouldn’t be bored whatsoever!!!
I love the “obsession” of the cleanliness and things “properly placed” in drawers and all.

Absolutely crazy that you wouldn't send the closets to the ceiling, but left it at 8ft and above any level of effort to store something or clean on top. The dust and grot! Could have been cool to send it to the top like the lounge room feel.
Little tip for you, put sheets of newspaper on top of closets then pull them off every few months and put new ones up, saves having to clean them
It's also a good idea to use electrical tape around the outlets so there is no chance of it arcing on the terminal screws. Super 88 is the way to go, since it doesn't gum up.

With as much custom stuff that Mike has already done, why wouldn’t you go with 8’ tall closet components and cut them down on site to go floor to ceiling? Would have looked a lot better!
Can't help but wonder how it would look with a bit of color on the wood ceiling vs the white. Seems like it could use some contrast.

Hey Mike, could the top horizontal piece (top “shelf” if you will) not be installed “up side down” so the cams wouldn’t show? Looking at it, I think it might work, screwing them in from the top, giving you a much cleaner look. Maybe it doesn’t work, but just a thought…

Hey Matt, it’s really coming together. I really like the color of the custom closets. I installed six cree CR6T in my kitchen. and wow what a difference I painted the ceiling S.W. super white although maybe it is extra white I’ll have to look and the walls a very light gray I was going for a shadow effect anyways with the former lights, you could never really see the difference between the ceiling and the walls but now no problem when my brother came over he thought I had painted. funny enough the former lights were cree but these were about six or seven years old and I was never 100% happy with them, but they were some of the best at that time. Have a great one.

That was a loooot of work to smooth those walls...you can't get everything perfectly...but it looks soo much better now. I like the colour of the panels for the closet as well.
Ceiling beams need to compliment the entertainment wall. Black or dark charcoal.
I would also screw in those receptacle screws you didn't use and wrap electrical tape around all the terminals for added safety.
What a crazy project, great work, but in my opinion u should keep wood color on ceiling, allwhite looks strangw, but maybe cuz of no furniture

I am not a designer and might be speaking too soon but I have some amount of OCD…are the ceiling beams going to match anything?
I feel like if they were iron ore to match all the other trim or a different color (darker) ceiling and beams wrapped in stainless steal to match the steps it would look better/different.

have to ask since We Finished house build 4 months ago and we have exactly same tiles the concrete look ones even on bathroom floor and question is how the heck you can keep those clean? it is like everything stucks there even water drops makes drop marks on those and need to wash floors 2-3 times a week to just keep those decent. i love the tiles, but sometimes i just keep thinking should i just get something else

Flat paint on walls seems like a questionable choice. From my understanding, it doesn't hold up well to any kind of cleaning or scrubbing when it gets dirty. I've heard eggshell is the best option for walls. More durable than flat and less glossy than semi-gloss.
That is what everyone says. I don't wash my walls. I touch them up. Always, always, always flat!

Eggshell is the way to go, especially if you have children. Most people do actually prefer to be able to wipe marks off their walls and not have to repaint stuff once a month.

Why so many lights, ok you can dim them, so why put them in in the first place?

Shouldn't tell people you don't use the L bracket so you don't end up in a lawsuit when the cabinet falls on someone. Ikea send those with everything now after some accident from a dresser.

These closets look good empty but when people put all their clothes in, it looks terrible. I’m a huge fan of closets with doors on the cabinets. I did one open closet in my house and have since changed to all custom cabinets.
If you take care, have matching hangers, color code everything, it can look great.

Like it all but with Matt being as obsessed as he is I'm puzzled why they don't swap the top plate on every cabinet 180 so they get tightened from the top so the hardware don't show from the bottom....
Was it much trouble getting in between the slats of wood on the ceiling? I painted A basement ceiling black once and it was difficult to get all the cracks and crevices. If you miss you get all these stripes it looked horrible had to go over it again.
I waited 7 years for this video to come out
