Sound of rain falling on the greenhouse. Nice warming spring day. Class in session today with Bonsai Master, Nigel. Bring pencil & paper for notes & your cup of tea or coffee. Enjoy a great session.
Also one of my favorite trees of yours, as well as my own in my own collection. It's always refreshing to get something that is so widely known to be generic and unimpressive and shape it into something that you, personally, want to look at and work on. It becomes so individual and impressive in a way that a rare plant never could. I hope one day that mine looks 1/10th as good as this. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Nigel, thank you for your videos. You are type of person that inspires me. You inspire me not only in bonsai, but also in the way you live and the way you look at life. Greetings from Czech Republic.
Wow, Nigel - You are almost at 200,000 subscribers! That is great!! I love hearing the rain falling on the greenhouse too - so soothing! Happy Spring to you and Laura and fam!
I am always amazed after you prune this tree! Due to how small it is and how fast it grows the "perfect" picture of it may fade a bit faster compared to bigger bonsai but it might be one of my favourites of your collection!
Your carving of the roots is well on its way to looking like an old banyan tree. That pot goes a long way to achieving an ancient look. Masterfully done!!!😊
I stayed here mostly for the rain. No rain for weeks where I live and I'm missing it like crazy. I'm getting some growth on the plants I stored in a cool basement and brought out to the balcony.
Nigel, I do believe this is the nicest styled ginseng ficus that I've ever seen. So many of this type of ficus sold in the big box stores here in the States. The work that you did in previous videos on the carving of the roots does make a difference in the style. Well done!
Thank you Nigel for your amazing videos I have learned a lot from you. This is my favorite tree in your collection. Can't wait for updates on this tree. Have a great day.
You do amazing work on your trees without wiring. I wanted to ask you a question about my golden gate ficus. I repotted it in late winter early spring. It was fine for a little while but then lost most of its leaves. Some branches are brittle it has a little bit of new growth is it dying. It is a special tree a gift from my mom. Please help
Nigel, I have an idea! Why dont you do a relaxing video of rain on the greenhouse, with a view inside the greenhouse with all the bonsai and patter of the rain and clinking of windchime.
Hi nigel happy spring! Question:as i live near the coast we get strong wind at times and my plants get covered in salt spray which really knocks them around. I have jade, figs, murraya and desert rose. As we have about a week of strong onshore winds coming ive decided to put them in the laundry, out of the wind for a few days. Only problem is they wont get any sun. How long can they stay in the dark before it harms the trees? Its autumn here, bout 27 to 15 degrees at night. Thank you👊
I think you should remove the areial roots which are growing from very high up and have thickened up quite a bit .....just a suggestion for you to consider..
Fantastic video! I do love that planting! I giggled... A lot... Mine has legs and a bum!😂🙃🤪 I learned a few things once again! Thank you Nigel!
For some reason, I liked the moss trying to grow up the columns.
Great video and the stories for the ficus microcarpa small size.❤
Thanks!!!

It certainly made it far away from the day you started this one..I remember it! Great progression!👌
Oh my goodness. I see a lady in the trunk. Her arms are reaching downward and she is looking right. I love this tree. 💗

@@TheBonsaiZone Have you kept any viewer statistics over the years? A few words on the development of channel would be interesting.

The back of this tree is so beautiful, very unique roots crawling over the pot, i feel like that could be a better front!
Beautifully done ...thankyou for the enjoyable and informative videofrom a fellow Ontario bonsai enthusiast . ELLE R.
Nice work Nigel.
I feel like this tree could be bigger and grow in a bigger pot.

Thanks Kennet!!
This is one of my favorite trees of yours. I can’t pin point why, but I think the shape of it makes it look huge and ancient, almost mystical.
Thanks James!!
Beautiful
The sound of the rain was lovely, Sir Nigel... Too bad people kept interrupting me. Lol
That was really interesting. :)
I am loving the way that this tree is coming along. It has made a lot of progress since the last pruning.
Wooow, I love the history behind this tree!
it's a cool tree Nigel nice 👍

I week will be no problem without sun, I would guess most Ficus could go about three weeks before you notice any ill effects!

Nigel, please ignore my ignorance & define what you mean by an Hail Mary cut ? thanks ...
Partial defoliation. 🤣🤣👍
Lol, yes I took quite a bit off!!
