Very useful circuit and I tried it. It indeed cuts the voltage when the battery is full but as long as the circuit is connected to the battery red led remains lit.
not sure why red led would remain lit as i haven't tested the circuit, but if you are concerned about green led draining the battery you can disconnect it. the red led should go out when the battery is charged.@@omodeindemustopha9270

Hello, I tried it with the video circuit (I captured the screen) and it never cut despite not charging anymore and the red led was permanently on, I clarify that I used a new 3.7 battery that was fully charged and I discharged it a little to load. Looking at the circuit in the video with the one in the description there are differences, I used the one in the description and it works fine now. Thank you! I want to make a contribution, I removed the 220 resistor and put a 10k potentiometer as you suggest and you can effectively regulate the charging voltage as a previous user consulted. Greetings.
Yes, There was actually led polarity mistake in video diagram, and corrected one is already uploaded download link is in video description, and you did perfect to use 10k pot to adjust cutoff voltage. Thanks for watching 😊
@@CreativeTechos exactly, that was the error of the diagram. Now it works fine, I think, only that I have to adjust the cut-off point according to the battery I am charging, for this I am trying with a 10 kΩ potentiometer. I'll tell you how I'm doing on the tests. A question, I saw a similar circuit of yours that placed a 6Amp diode at the output to the load, is it convenient in this 3.7 volt battery charging circuit?
Yes, you can use that too, connect diode on output positive before connecting to battery, to stop reverse discharging, also 4.7k resistor that is connected from pin 1 of tl431 to direct input positive, instead of direct positive connect it to battery positive after diode. It will help to cutoff at precise voltage.
Will this work to on a phone. I dont wk with electronics but you did a fabulous job explaining!!❤ Subscribed for that alone hah! I am presuming you can charge more than ine battery? Say 4 or five.... doing a solar charger for phone... Thanks much!!
Hello Thanks for sharing and explanations but unfortunately you have a mistake in the drawing, the practical assembly is correct but different from the drawing you presented. The junction of the two 4.7 kg resistors should connect to the No. 1 (reference) leg of TL431 and not to the Anode and again as shown in the drawing. And the Anode which is the middle leg 2 should be connected to the resistor junction 220 ohms and 15 k ohms Hope you get the comment easily and comment Thank you very much

Yes, when your battery is full, it will stop charging to battery. You can check new improved version of this circuit with precise & adjustable cutoff. Thank you for all your videos. Very informative and helpful. One question, can the 431 shunt regulator be substituted with another type of regulator? Or something equivalent to?
I have a question... I already have two leds that are controlled by a micro, so how do I have to conect that circut to the micro so that the micro detect when the batery is in process of charging or is full charged? Is as simple as conecting the input to where the anode of the led might be? or I can take out the leds?

In simple words TL431 is an adjustable zener diode, so there is broadly available in market with TL431, KA431 or KA431AZ both are same.
