they did an amazing job of introducing him as the main villain, he made no gags, no jokes, just got straight to the point, and that's what i thing makes him the most menacing villain yet, even over resurrected garmadon.
He did make some here and there while garmadon actually didn’t and would only give a cocky yet sinister quip at his foes every so often, Morro for instance when he got cocky would joke around and say things like “cat got your tongue ?” Or “oh I have *Friends.* “
This theme is by far the best to analyze. Morro's general leitmotif is the violin part, which purposefully sounds eerily out of place compared to the rest of Jay Vincent's Ninjago compositions. It's also reminiscent of the Danse Macabre, a piece of classical music representing death, which clues the listener in on Morro's ghostly existence. The first variation that plays when he prepares to possess Lloyd is directly inspired by Les Augures Printantiers, a segment from Igor Stravinsky's Le Sacre Du Printemps ballet. The scene in the ballet the music describes features elements of communication with the dead, which is a subtle reference to Morro's occult influences. I might just be rambling here but there is a surprising amount to unpack in the soundtrack of this children's toy cartoon.
Damn, and I thought _I_ overanalyzed the music in this show. I gotta hand the crown over to you fam, I could've told you the theme was inspired by Danse Macabre, but the rest of that stuff was greek to me. I applaud your nerdiness.
No, you're not rambling! The reffrence to ballet you noticed is really interesting and thanks to you I've learn that Danse Macabre was also present in music. Thank you for your comment. It's always good to appreciate art =^^=!
Glad I'm not the only one who noticed the similarities to Danse Macabre! I just love the devil's interval in his theme! It sounds like it's played on the viola a lot of the time, too, which is really interesting. The viola's range can be quite spooky, so I love that it was used for a super spooky theme
I find Morro's story especially tragic because I think his initial "greed" isn't really his desire for power at all. If you think about it, he was an orphan who's only family was Sensei Wu, who put this expectation on him to be the green ninja. Perhaps the reason Morro coveted the roll so much is because he just wanted to make Wu proud, and felt as though he would somehow lose his only family if he didn't live up to this impossible expectation. Also, when the ninja find his body in the underwater caves, the fact that his clothing and hair are still intact and not burned off by the lava there makes me think he died of dehydration or fumes, very slowly and painfully and alone...
Not only does season 5 Possession have the best villain, the best plot, it also has some of the best soundtracks. ‘The Master of Wind’ is my favorite one because of the menacing violin playing, and how all the instruments compliment one another.
It's quite similar to the story of Tai Lung, an orphan who's master put too much pride in, which darkened their soul and inflated their ego to the point of turning them evil.
I love Morro, I loved how he was as a Villian, his sad backstory and how he was Wu’s first student, of how he was not chosen as the Green Ninja, Villians like these are truly a “one of a kind”
new ninjago is better except for Kai (he look better but his character traits are "cocky, degenerate" instead of "tempermental, hotheaded, serious, easily jealous)
The thing about Morro is that he's menacing without needing to do much, for example Nadakhan captured Jay and stranded the Ninja. Krux and Acronix knocked Zane offline and captured Wu. Morro was confident and let the Ninja do whatever because he knew he'd won, he only possessed Lloyd for the tomb. And then let him go, he only ever requested the Ninja to be dealt with for the sake of The Preeminent. And the best part is that Morro accomplished his goal to free The Preeminent despite the Ninja, The Preeminent is the one who failed and died. Not Morro. His confidence was not in vain, he knew the Ninja were no threat to HIM deep down. Only a threat to his master, he was right.
Kai: "Whoever u r, whatever beef u have w/ Sensei, u have w/ us. Give us back our friend." Morro: (Snap neck) Chuckles Cole: "How are we supposed to fight a friend?" Morro: "Let me show u!"
The ghost story music makes me very emotional I wish Morro could have lived a normal life without turning into a cursed ghost and vanishing into the departed realm.
Sometimes I wonder what it would be like if morrow took Wus hand and lived with them from then on who knows maybe they could of found a way to bring him back to life like they did with cole it’s a shame really morro definitely had potential to do more as a character
Yea and he was the only one with wind elemental but when some master with element power don't have Offspring and die the elemnt will find someone else. Btw. he is the most my favorite villian I wish he could come back :{
Morro is my favorite Ninjago villian because he has the most importance (other than Garmaddon) but Morro blamed Wu for everything so he made him pay for everything. He had the reasoning, the skill, the motivation all he needed to do was use it!!!
To make this more upsetting, the Elemental Power Of Wind is completely gone now unless Moro has a sibling with that Elemental Gene, and since Moro is completely gone now there is no way to bring him back. Its important to pass on your Elemental Gene's if you're a desendent of a Elemental Master.
not really. tommy andreasen (creator of Ninjago) said that if an elemental master doesn't have any descendants, the element chooses it's next master by itself. the wind is out somewhere, trying to find a new master since Morro is gone.
I know Morro is gone twice because he was killed in a lava cave, turned into a ghost and then killed by water. He also appeared in Day of the Departed because he was a statue controlled by Master Yang alongside Villians and never came back alive. If Ninjago 2 had Morro's descendant but a friendly boy/girl, boy/girl would hear a story about Morro became Master of Wind.
Not really, considering that Wind Dragons still exists, Wojira also has control over the wind, and a master doesn't really need to pass their element, as it their die it would automatically look for a new candidate.
the "ghost story" track makes me cry. imagine the despair morro must feel, after coming from the streets, from nothing, to being told he could someday be the green ninja. being told he could be the hero. and then having that destiny he thought was his instantly ripped away from him. how heartbreaking it must feel, like being told he is still nothing, will always be nothing. he will never be good enough. he died alone in those caves, trying to prove wu wrong, trying to prove that he was worthy of that title and that destiny. then for years, his heartbreak and fury just built up as he lived as a ghost. when he possesses lloyd, imagine what a twisted, bittersweet satisfaction it must be- he's FINALLY the green ninja. but not in the way he ever thought he would be. it was never his true "destiny". he didn't want anything more than to be someone important. morro's anger and bitterness clouded his judgement and actions, but all he ever did was try. my favorite ninjago villain of all time.
