To everyone talking about the mustard, that he lost his shit over mustard; it’s not about the mustard.
Her ex is a controlling abuser & he lost his shit over a condiment because by that point in their marriage he become used to controlling almost every aspect of their relationship & expected her to comply with everything & anything he wanted. Her refusal of mustard showed him she still had some individuality so he needed to force that individuality out of her because she is “supposed” to fall in line with whatever he wants whenever he wants.
When threats of physical violence didn’t work he threatened divorce because he figured she wouldn’t want to be alone since she didn’t have any family left & no friends due to his isolation of her which is a tactic abusers use that way their victim becomes emotionally dependent on them & are afraid to leave for fear of truly being alone.
When the threat of divorce didn’t work he used his mother to try to guilt her into falling in line with what he wants but again that didn’t work. That’s why he threatened to kidnap her because he knew his grip on her was slipping away & that frustrates abusers. His last ditch effort was a violent one (no surprise) when he raped her to try to get her pregnant as way to still force her to be connected to him even if they do get divorced.
He should have gone to prison for that & the fact that he was only ordered to do therapy is fucking outrageous.
I personally love mustard but that wouldn’t be a deal breaker in my marriage, if my wife didn’t like mustard 😂

If you choose to die on every hill, eventually you’ll find the hill the other person is willing to survive on. Abusers always end up over-reaching. It’s a tragedy it happens at all but I take comfort in the fact that Abusers are often on bought time because they fail to realise that reciprocity is literally the only way any relationship lasts. Sadly the abused are often on bought time too because abusers NEED to keep breaking boundaries and eventually those boundaries will be physical.
Its not true that he didn't care about you. I don't know why people say this. It would have been great if he didn't care about you. Abusers are dangerous specifically BECAUSE they care about you. Otherwise, you could tell them to get lost and it would be over.
It think its a problem that people think that because somebody cares about you, you owe them a relationship. You don't. Pretending that he doesn't care is just a hack for justifying a breakup. The problem (aside from being in a relationship with an abuser) is your belief that caring for you means that you owe the person who cares a relationship. It absolutely does not.
