Saw them live last week and it was awesome. The show was so funny :) I love Alex Kapranos. He could have become a comedian.

this acoustic version was the first time i heard Cheating on you and i loved it instantly!! Nick's cute back up vocals, especially the 'ooo wah ha ha' at 5:55 and the use of just a piano and guitar makes this song sound cheerful and happy! :)

No, it MEANS on the road. The literal translation would be "on (the) axis", like in the axis between two opposing wheels of a truck.

He must change his name to that.
Oh the terrible thoughts I have sometimes, Mr. Kapranos.

Amazing, how two untrained singers, who constantly intonate out of tune (probably deliberately) gather that many fans... Probably that's called "style". But what when the interest in this "style" shifts...? What will endure the hype?

To me it's like with belcanto opera singers. I would listen to opera singers of the 30s and 40s on repeat, but don't really like modern-day polished and perfected opera performers. Untrained voices are different and unique in their imperfections, while trained singers are sometimes indistinguishable and perfectly boring.
