    I've finally seen it: a steel rule divided in 1/10- and 1/100-inch increments. My wish has been granted.

    I was confused, my shop gave me the first one ruler to measure in metric. I didn’t realize until I started measuring that they gave me a inch ruler 🤦🏽‍♂️. I really wish we could stick to one measurement.

    can you explain the decimal rule in 50 please

    • @grantkat4
      @grantkat4  4 года назад +5

      The decimal rule with 50 divisions has tenths of an inch, the numbers equal .1 of an inch. Each of the small graduation marks represent .02 of an inch so if you are 3 graduation marks past the 2, two tenths, then you have .2 + (3 x .02) which equals .26. Thanks for asking.

    Why don't you just go metric, this lesson is outdated and unnecessary. Metric is the way forward.

    • @sayhallo3769
      @sayhallo3769 3 года назад

      Metric works for most things yes, but when going to a Home Depot or Lowes you have to ask for imperial measurements because they are easier to remember

    • @johngallahhh
      @johngallahhh 3 года назад

      @@sayhallo3769 Problem is then for you its a chicken and egg situation, you will not remember them because you do not use metric. Trust me i was an engineer and grew up with imperial so i know both systems. Metric has so many benefits over imperial, you've probably never seen a large blueprint diagram using yards, feet, inches and everything between the inch. Let me tell you it's horrendous. Again its outdated and behind the times. Sorry.
