The Opera House building has a handful of businesses on the 1st floor, the most famous being one of the best and biggest used book shops in this state in not the country. "Recycled Books" is a Denton hallmark. Midway Mart has a very good beer selection (especially for a gas station). If you find yourself back in town the east side of the square is where all the most famous beer gardens / venues / bars are at, and if you're ok with a younger bar crowd Fry St was one block to your south on Oak as you cross Welch..., its a very busy block on weekend nights.

If you would like to have quiet travel, it is recommended. Even downtown is not crowded.
