The Sims 4 is not a cash grab. You can easily play with just the basegame. The packs are optional additions to the game. You don't have to purchase them. Also add ons like these were in Sims 1, 2 and 3.

I remember since I was a kid (90's kid) I always loved when I saw that EA games logo when I would start a game, but it seems you either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
Just to warn you all, The Mass Effect Legendary Collection’s Collectors edition also looks like it won’t come with the actual game. Hope I saved at least one person.
I'm so sad about Anthem.. When first trailers came out I fell in love with the thought of a huge open world that has layers, not just the ground. And it was beautiful as heck! But then it came out...
Pinnacle Station was boring and the Citadel in ME3 was just awful. On top of that, the sheer amount of cut weapons and armor that was then resold as dlc or preorder exclusives is grating. Never mind their multiplayer cash grab bullshit. Andromeda, though, was without a doubt the worst. Dlc that was cut from the core game, promised, then never released.
This was released just 2 weeks before Kits were released for the Sims 4 basically a few items that were cut from other packs and if you are in the UK like I am they pretty much cost the same as an actual stuff pack.
I actually LIKE the ME DLC. Not pinnacle station, no, but Overload, Lair of the Shadow Broker and the Citadel DLC where all awesome. My only real complaint is From Ashes should have been part of the game, not DLC. That story stuff is plot essential, noone should have had to pay for that.
Ubi has been pretty good since the disaster that was AC:Unity. They've had some missteps lately with Ghost Recon Breakpoint but have turned AC around and the Division has been awesome. I can usually get on board with their games and not feel burned after buying one
Hellgate: London (2007) is still one of my favorites. The atmosphere, the class design, the story. It could have been a great series. The Hellgate: London (2018) on Steam is not the same game, it's an update of Hellgate: Global which was the original game turned into a Korean F2P MMO... So, why is that bad? Because the Korean F2P demographic tends to have cheaper hardware with less power to push graphics. As a result, the '18 game has worse graphics that are blurry, the '07 game can use DX10, the '18 version only uses DX 9.

I am so happy to see this information collected in one location. There is no question that every gamer has been burned by EA at some point. The worst part is that the company seems to be aware of the sentiment but doesn't care to make any changes. For example, their newest NCAA Football game will be the same game it was in 2014.
See the problem here is the tactics EA uses. There's nothing wrong with a company that makes money for what they do...that's what a company does. However, when said company willfully and intentionally builds Skinner Boxes in order to get kids gambling...now, we have a problem. When they intentionally build games that are actually damaging an entire generation of children for profits, they need to be called out. Before you make the statement "parents...blah, blah, blah." EA has essentially flown under the radar of the ESRB. You know, the actual ratings board designed to help parents decide what is okay for their children. EA's practices with their loot boxes, surprise mechanics, and pay for random chance is illegal, full stop. Every single game they make should be pulled from the market (every with pay for play schemes) and rated AO. Some states were going after EA just before COVID 19 hit and when it's finally over I suspect they will continue going after them.

Never mind their multiplayer cash grab bullshit. Andromeda, though, was without a doubt the worst. Dlc that was cut from the core game, promised, then never released.

This was released just 2 weeks before Kits were released for the Sims 4 basically a few items that were cut from other packs and if you are in the UK like I am they pretty much cost the same as an actual stuff pack.

I actually LIKE the ME DLC. Not pinnacle station, no, but Overload, Lair of the Shadow Broker and the Citadel DLC where all awesome. My only real complaint is From Ashes should have been part of the game, not DLC. That story stuff is plot essential, noone should have had to pay for that.

Ubisoft lowkey on the rise last 2 Games were pretty dope.
Ubi has been pretty good since the disaster that was AC:Unity. They've had some missteps lately with Ghost Recon Breakpoint but have turned AC around and the Division has been awesome. I can usually get on board with their games and not feel burned after buying one

Hellgate: London (2007) is still one of my favorites. The atmosphere, the class design, the story. It could have been a great series. The Hellgate: London (2018) on Steam is not the same game, it's an update of Hellgate: Global which was the original game turned into a Korean F2P MMO... So, why is that bad? Because the Korean F2P demographic tends to have cheaper hardware with less power to push graphics. As a result, the '18 game has worse graphics that are blurry, the '07 game can use DX10, the '18 version only uses DX 9.

I am so happy to see this information collected in one location. There is no question that every gamer has been burned by EA at some point. The worst part is that the company seems to be aware of the sentiment but doesn't care to make any changes. For example, their newest NCAA Football game will be the same game it was in 2014.

See the problem here is the tactics EA uses. There's nothing wrong with a company that makes money for what they do...that's what a company does. However, when said company willfully and intentionally builds Skinner Boxes in order to get kids gambling...now, we have a problem. When they intentionally build games that are actually damaging an entire generation of children for profits, they need to be called out.
Before you make the statement "parents...blah, blah, blah." EA has essentially flown under the radar of the ESRB. You know, the actual ratings board designed to help parents decide what is okay for their children. EA's practices with their loot boxes, surprise mechanics, and pay for random chance is illegal, full stop. Every single game they make should be pulled from the market (every with pay for play schemes) and rated AO. Some states were going after EA just before COVID 19 hit and when it's finally over I suspect they will continue going after them.
