If you ever think of a fight for basic human rights as a trend - you need to rethink at your whole value system. If you equate feminism with what you see in Hollywood, then you need to pick up a book and actual see what the movement is. Because it is not fun, it is not marketable, it is not cool - it is a fight for rights that every human should have. As soon as you think feminism is something you can put away lie last years knee high boots, that’s when you will start losing your rights. Nothing is certain for women - in a blink do any eye everything you hold normal and right could disappear. Roe vs wade was the opening move not the end game.
I believed Me Too was or something even earlier than that. I saw it as the catalyst that woke everyone up. The Take did a video on the Handmaids Tale. It was interesting considering how many people did not put two and two together. As soon as episode 1 came on, my mom and I were deeply scared this was going to happen in real life. As soon as women have power and sexual freedom, people have to destroy it. It sucks that another woman created this society. Yes, humans have the capacity to be cruel including women, but I never understood women hurting other women when they were disrespected too.
THANK YOU for this comment. This is the first thing that came to mind when I read the description box. I’m like “wait a minute. Since when did human rights become a trend in the first place?! 😂” That mentality is the root of the problem among us as women. Not everything is a fashion statement or a trend that you can just throw away when it gets too boring or hard.
Feminism exists outside the US outside the West. The movement is still going strong across the Middle East, across Latin America, and across Asia and Africa. They're doing things to change their lives and their countries
WE ARE!!!!! Thanks to the local feminist movement (la marea verde) and the students with the green handkerchiefs cutting the metro in Chile in 2019 and the protests it unleashed, the whole country kickstarted towards a leftist wave that culminated with the president chosen this year -- the first leftist president since 1973, where Allende was killed by a US backed coup. There's still work to do (the old dictator's constitution is still in place) but it's steady, slow work. Argentina got abortion approved in 2020 -- we've had gender identity laws and equal marriage since 2010. Mexico is still battling against the goverment for the recognition and prevention of femicides -- that affect disproportionately poor and indigenous women. Latin America is STILL fighting, we HAVE been fighting for years and years! Just because the West decided feminism was a product to be sold, something to be shown on TV and not execute on the streets doesn't mean the rest of the world works the same. I feel like first world countries -- or at least the middle class, white part of it -- don't have the tradition of social fighting for a cause, struggle the way we have it and therefore feels like it should be a fast, apparent blaze instead of the steady fire and the inch-by-inch activism we're more used to in Latin America and the Global South. Activism is slow work and it's unglamorous and boring -- of course the western media will claim its death when they can't package it to sell.
Thank you for mentioning this. In Mexico we are trying so hard to be heard but also to survive as women because in many cases we aren't safe in the streets and sometimes not even at home. Unfortunately a lot of the US-centric views related to anti-feminism are entering into the Latin American context, especially in through the Mexican border with the US. Most of the time, in LATAM channels and on social networks such as Twitter and Facebook people will be able to find a mix between people who are true feminists who want women to have safe abortion clinics, education for girls in rural communities, etc., people who confuse misandry and feminism, and of course the toxic self-called "feminists" who are into misandry and are TERFs. I wish there was a way for people in my country to understand that feminism is one thing and misandry/TERFs are another completely different topic. I've had to become low key feminist at this point because of all that I wrote above. I do my best to help women and trans-women but sometimes it can feel a bit lonely.
This may be seen as a "trend" in the USA but where I come from (Zambia) and where I live (South Africa) it is a human rights movement that is very much alive and well
Yes because women from Africa and third world regions have real and grievances and hardships that require attention. The pampered spoiled Western women are running off at the mouth not because they're oppressed but simply because they can.
This video was crearly made by an American perspective and is actually what is wrong with feminism: it's whitennes. If you just stopped looking only in the American point of view and realize that THERE IS AN ENTIRE WORLD OUTSIDE THE USA you would know that in Mexico and in most Latino countries we DO in fact have organized feminist organizations and we are still fighting for our right to abortions and fighting back the killing of women each day. Not to mention women in Iran on the Hijab protest so get your head outside America and look out.
Lol. No. I'm African and black women are getting worse. Femicide and poverty are through the roof. These silly mantras talking about unity with bm aren't helping
That's because you actually have something to fight for. Western women have it all for decades. Abundant access to everything needed, but yet they complain about everything. Western feminists are immature babies that never grew up from their own spoiled childhood. How many western feminist are fighting for you and other women in countries where oppression actually exist? None of them! They literally do not care.
Stop applying western idealogies to non western countries. Its very reductive. Whats happening in Iran has nothing to do with women, its the opposition using the death of a woman cause havoc and destruction for their own gains.
I think feminism is diversifying beyond white middle class feminism and corporate-related. I'm Muslim and even if some don't describe themselves as feminists, more are speaking out against domestic abuse and racism in schools and workplace despite cultural taboos and forming support networks
It's getting more international too - I see a lot of solidarity online and IRL for the women of Iran protesting the compulsory hijab _and_ for the Muslimas in France fighting against the hijab ban. From the same people. Folks are finally cottoning on to the issue being _choice_ and that gives me hope.
@@TheSleepyowlet it's funny because more and more countries around Europe are banning hijabs and niqabs and the population in general is accepting politicians and leaders who criticize Islam ferociously and even speak against muslim immigration like the recent election of sweden democrats and the far right giorgia meloni .
Islam says husbands can beat their wives in case of disobedience as corroborated by Aisha, Muhammad's child-bride. So, I really don't understand the cognitive dissonance of being a muslim feminist.
😕Sooo, you worship a god that despises me for being gay🚫🏳️🌈...🤦🏾♂️ Abrahamic religions suck, and you should deconstruct yours before you get into human rights movements, because as of this moment, you are worshipping a god that disagrees with my right to even exist. Also you need to see a therapist for your Harley Quinn complex 🃏, as you worship someone who despises you for being a woman. Anyway, just stop being one of the people who keep me living in fear of being murdered for who I am.
I know this is an American/Western channel, but feminism exists outside of the US and it's a fight that's happening all over the world RIGHT NOW (eg Iran) and I feel like it's your responsibility (with your 1m subscribers) to use your platform, talk about it too and give visibility to those protests and maybe that way they'll become mainstream enough for more people to know about them and support them
Then ask for another video. If their research is based on United States evidence then of course the video will be based on that. I don't get why every video I watch on RUclips there is scrutiny for the content creator making content centered around where they live. If enough people ask politely for information on a different location then im sure they would take the quality time to have that discussion.

I'm a Muslim woman from Iran, I'm a feminist. I would say feminism is growing here, we're fighting for our rights and we are fighting against oppression. I wear hijab by choice, and it breaks my heart that so many woman in my country don't have a choice over their own body. Compulsory hijab is not the only oppression we face, it's so much deeper and so much more complicated, both in our rules and in our culture. But we are fighting for freedom, our main motto these days is "woman, life, freedom"
I must add one more thing. Unfortunately, some people gatekeep feminism, and it's so harmful. Some people say that I can't be a feminist because I wear hijab, but I will never stop calling myself a feminist. It's really not complicated, it's all about being able to choose what you want, without others forcing you to change that choice or to forbid you from doing that choice or shaming you because of that choice. I'd always say, just leave us alone. Let us choose for ourselves, let us be ourselves. Let us be slutty or religious, let us be doctors or housewives, let us have multiple children or have no children at all. Let us wear hijab or wear nothing at all.
I am in awe of the women in Iran, and how you are fighting for your rights currently. I consider myself a feminist, but I don't know that I would have the courage to stand up to the oppressors that Iranian women are facing. Stay strong.
I think western feminism could benefit from incrementalism and from being less dependent on the mainstream as an indicator of success. We need a stable ground to stand on and mutual aid should always be the first step you walk on in your activism.
Could also just use a reality check - start advocating for more women in trades and other skilled labor positions. The vast majority of "real" work is still done by men, real meaning "if this industry shut down the rest of the developed world would stop functioning".
@@robertcunningham1695 this is important. You can still promote feminism and choice but recognize that not all women will go for certain jobs, and that men doing them is still important
Wrong. Reality check: here in Asia, women are independent yet still are feminine and don't antagonize men. While western feminazis antagonizing men and want take over all men's positions.
i think being mainstream actually hurts feminism more than helping, mainstream means everybody has their opinion on it but not really a nuance understanding of it, when you have women saying Thatcher is a feminist icon is because they dont really understand the ideology of feminism, there you have women fighting if not agreeing with other women is feminist or not. We need a stable base that makes political change possible, what policies we need, what changes must be made.
Western feminism is an oxymoron and a hatred movement, akin to the klu klux klan. american women are the most overpriviledged and pampered human group in the world, and all they do with that power is ABUSE IT
I think the reason why some people choose to see feminism as almost a fashion trend is because they only see it through the lens of cultural popularity when really we should be appreciating it as an evolving idea/concept/definition/stance.

@@AnaGomez-vf8jj in no place on earth will it ever be eradicated unfortunately, but there is no denying it’s much worse to be a woman in some places than others.
There is backlash against the performative feminism and rightfully so. Making someone's brand about just being a woman is stupid. Elisabeth Warren attacked Bernie Sanders and called him sexist for telling her that it might be harder for a woman to be elected as president. Calling everyone that critisizes any woman sexist is really ridiculous. For instance the last Star Wars movies were just a disaster and Disney explained the backlash as a sexist outrage against the Rey character. People are getting tired of this even those who support women rights.
@Anna crystal I gave 2 examples of non-sexist behavior that were pictured as sexist in the media. This deligitimizes the real sexist behaviors. If every critism towards any woman is pictured as either sexism or internal mysogyny it deligitinizes and infantilizes us. We want equality not special treatment.
EXACTLY! I’m a woman and I think Feminism is great when done right. We should support women in general but we shouldn’t blindly support awful movies and inferior candidates just because of their genitals!
Also, if we didn't watch the Johnny Depp trial and only went based off the media we'd still think Heard was the victim. So when mainstream media takes a woman's side only becshse she's a woman no matter how much evidence there is that she's awful then people will rebel against it. People don't like being treated like they're stupid.
Feminism has hardly any respect left due to the hypocrisy of the so called feminism promoting celebrities. And also when feminism gets restricted to people following a particular ideology and other side problems are ignored or thought they deserve it, then this kind of feminism is reduced to BS.
The thing is, the Powers That Be want us exhausted. They want us to be cynical, and thinking that nothing can change, so that won't resist, and they can continue to rob the world. So, even if we're exhaused (and Lord knows we are), we can't stop. Beause they certainly won't.
The reason it’s struggling cause everyone says anything any woman likes is a feminist stance think every trend on tiktok or archetype is a feminist one. When a movement gets so obsessively inclusive it doesn’t seem like it has any strong stance.
@@Tijggie82 Partially, but it's also just how every subculture is trying to say that anything they like is feminist or empowering even if it clashes with the values of another one.
I’ve been calling myself a feminist for a while now, but I have never liked “the future is female.” The future should be all of us. I think unfortunately, controversy trends, so the most controversial and distracting opinions trends. I truly believe that free quality early childcare will do the most in helping some of the most underprivileged and abused women in our country. Nothing makes a woman/girl suddenly more vulnerable than becoming pregnant (even more so now without Roe.) and having a child. But that’s a topic not talked about much by trendy feminism.
Just want to add this: feminists do talk about that, the reason why you might not have noticed it much could be because you spend time in circles where other issues take limelight. Which is fine, different issues take precedence for different people, no need to imply that somehow the “trendy” version is invalid; it’s valid too.
Men having maternity leave might also help. Women can get discriminated against when going to find work if she is wearing a ring because the workplace knows that they will likely have to give her paid maternity leave. But also, idk if we are looking at the possibility of pregnancy correctly. I think it is pretty backwards to believe that pregnancy, something that men cannot do, will always remain a hindrance for us to succeed. That seems to me like we are still promoting a patriarchal society since we all have to be more like men to succeed. We should make it so that natural female experiences, like pregnancy, are not discriminated against but rather, accommodated.
Feminism has never faded. It always grows. What does not grow is respect for women. No matter what we do, society still looks down on us and wants to take any power women have and bring them back to secondary citizens. Where it gets ridiculous is when some women think feminism is being superior to men instead of equal to them. I feel this attitude is what made us fight in the first place, men thinking they are superior to us. Men and women can be feminists when they believe they are equal to each other and are proud of each other’s being said. That being said, both genders should be independent and self-sufficient especially in an age where it is scary to date. We need to rely on ourselves in case there won’t be a partner to help us. But it is ok if you have a partner. It is ok to be a stay at home parent. It is ok to both have jobs and financially support the family. But life happens and we need to take care of ourselves before we take care of others.
I'm a feminist and I'm against equality. If we were "equal" to men we'd be responsible for just as many SAs, murders, and violent crimes as men. We would be starting just as many wars and running just as many corporations that work off of slave labour. I want to see what a world that's run by women would look like, because I can say it'd probably look a hell of a lot different than the current world that's catered to men.
Not sure I agree with that last part. Humans need to collaborate with eachother. Being self-sufficient isn't a bad idea, but it is further isolating. We need to start culturally valuing eachother more, it has to become integral to care for one another.

Yeah, the entire political class has been in office longer than we've been alive, and somehow we're to expect that they'll solve the problems THEY created.

still blaming men. I think as long as the favorite hobby of feminism is to kick men in the teeth, it will be totally unattractive to most women who had at least one positive relation with a non emasculated man in her life
I was a feminist until a certain point, and I just wanna say the reasons, when I was 7 years old I was emotionally abused by my female math teacher, and when I was 15 my dad lost his job because he was falsely accused of hitting a woman with an iron object, now that I'm 20 till this day I'm asking to myself, is this what modern feminism want, not letting toxic women accountable and innocent men in jail, how comes a movement made in the 1700s becoming like this, a group full of angry misandrist that do nothing but harm other women and men, I'm heavily dissapointed how a movement with good intentions It became something who is being more and more toxic as the years go by in the USA.
How does that have anything to do with feminism? Did you report the abuse from your math teacher to your principal and/or your parents? It's their responsibility to protect you. The fact that there are bad women in the world does not change the fact that men have been oppressing women for centuries on the principal of being inferior. We are equals. I mean if a black men would have falsely accused your father, would you argue that we return to slavery and question Martin Luther King and what he was fighting for?
@@jz372 Okay first of all, I'm not american I'm italian and second of all in my previous comment I simply critizied how misandry is ruining the roots of feminism and sadly It's true from what I saw in the US, and my question is, do we have to hate the opposite gender for resolving the problems of sexism? No because if both genders are hating each other It's not gonna resolve anything, and about my abuser, sadly I couldn't report her, Why? Simple, I was a child back then and they didn't believe me and my parents tried to help me but they also weren't believed, and the worst part about It is that woman still has a job, the only good thing I'm saying is at least my father is still working.

Schrödinger's feminism: a woman is simultaneously a victim and empowered, until something happens. Then she chooses which state benefits her the most...
Yeah I was kind of thinking that when I watched this video. I'm more aware of global events than most people, and I can say that in the global south Femism isn't dealing with an existential crisis, it's still running its course.
fewer women being hired was NOT a result of the movement, it was the CHOSEN response by those clinging to power. we're never going to get anywhere if we blame those standing up to power for power's response that could/should easily be read as an admission of guilt. businesses CHOSE not to hire more women instead of making working places safe for everyone. businesses CHOSE to continue working with powerful perpetrators and blacklist those who came forward. businesses and politicians CHOOSE not to enact policies around healthcare, parental leave, time off, income inequality, etc. just like harassment, these are all more examples of those with power exerting that power over those of us with less power. it's weird that we hold all feminism responsible for how it's been co-opted/coopted and the responses of those clinging to power. (co-optation is the process of basically rebranding a radical movement/subversive work so that it's no longer a threat to the status quo.) let's stop calling it "mainstream feminism", maybe let's give it a more accurate name "capitalist co-opted feminism". also, instead of perpetuating these kinds of narratives, use your platform to help educate people to see this process and how powerful people distract and shift blame to hold on to power? this kind of co-optation will continue to happen until we reject it. let's question who benefits from certain narratives and not be so quick to turn on people who should/could be allies. "In the arena, remember who the real enemy is."--Haymitch, Catching Fire (ironically, all the hunger games movie adaptations and the 3rd book are also examples of co-optation)
People were fighting for human rights before bRand of "feminism" exists, people will fight their fight for human rights in the future, people don't care about bRand of feminism which the media and politicians created for their own gain.
@@namo6641 lol, is “brand” a bad word now or is that some kind of dog whistle? you need some history lessons. look up what happened to the fights for our rights in the 80s, 90s, and 00s. People might continue to fight small battles for special local issues (and lose majority of them against powerful giants); the brand brings people together under a shared goal because our main strength is in numbers. Attacking the “brand” diffuses that collective power and is part of a divide and conquer strategy
It's Laurel Thatcher Ulrich, but she gets completely misinterpreted by people who can't be bothered to do a simple google search. What she meant was that society ignores good women, and only focuses on power hungry politicians like Maggie Thatcher or criminals like Aileen Wuornos. It's a sad irony that people don't really care what a female professor was saying, and just use it as a cheap "girl power" slogan.
I think it was Laurel Thatcher Ulrich. However it originally wasn’t about being loud and protesting but about how the quiet woman of history are often forgotten and under-appreciated. We so often have glorify people like Marilyn Monroe but forget about the single mother who managed to feed her kids in a world against her. It’s a bit like how traditional woman’s work (cooking, caring) is over looked despite society needing it to function. Which I think makes ironic that the woman who said it is so often forgotten. However while the “fight the power” interpretation was not the original meaning I think it has value and things in culture shift. In short I think the quote is relevant just not in the way you intended but we need both loud and quiet women to be appreciated. Which at least in part ties into intersectional feminism because different women struggle with different things and traditional woman’s work should be appreciated not invisible.
Intersectional feminism is blah blah blah. White women, black women, Asian women are all women and feminist groups are always wanting women from many backgrounds to support them. I think some black women think if they start talking about feminism they will be seen as difficult. Some black men think white women are 'easier'. But white women can be just as difficult. I am saying there is not much of a difference between black women and white women. Much less than the perceived difference. We should work together to improve women's lives.
@@carmelmulroy6459 nope totally different, just look at marriage, divorce and single mother statistic, if starting a family is what you want then the better choice is already made.
As a guy with mother and sister, I'm ok with feminism as long as it's fighting for human rights for women. But I really don't like how some women capitalize feminism for their own gain. Girlboss is the most apparent. I mean, women can be a leader, just don't be a bad leader, regardless of gender.

I think any discussion is healthy, because it allows us to evolve. I say this, because I am originally from a culture where my grandmother and mother could not even have imagine the jobs my sister and I currently have, not be married by choice until we are in our 30s to pursue higher education, career then get married as a choice of our own, etc. It was a toxic habit of mine, but my grandmother used to enjoyed watching me drink and smoke with my brothers, because back in her day it was impossible for a girl to do. (It was just me trying to get through med school and the amount of studying and stress)
So after all that success you still identify as a feminist. Wow you really don't want to let go of that victimhood status eh. I'm not surprise. Modern feminism hasn't been about equality for a long time. Its about power.
People arent tired of feminism. There are a lot of fights to be fought for equal rights, just look at the Iranian revolts, or how or how sexism is downright dangerous in developing countries. What people are tired is the mainstream, trivialized, corporate version of feminism. Manspreading isnt nearly as dangerous as women getting getting killed because they wont conform to whats considered traditional values, and yet media will put it at exactly the same threat level, because keeping people angry, worried and most important of all, entertained, sells.
Nope. People are tired of modern feminism because it has become white = evil. Man = evil. You’re a man and you don’t sexually assault women? To bad, you are a misogynist because you are are a man. And with intersectionality, you are racist because you are white. The intersection came with me too. The argument was made “believe all accusers.” Why? Because they accuse. Nevermind the white male who denies it, his voice doesn’t matter. It’s misogyny. He cannot and will not be seen as an individual, because he is a white male. Only his whiteness matters. Only his maleness. But when it comes to a women, well, their “lived experience” is incontrovertible proof.
I remember thinking during the woman’s march of 2017 that the movement was lacking an economic component. Society cannot be changed without changing institutions and the economic relations that drive and steer those institutions. That has to be done with economic means by the people who produce the wealth (the working class). That woman’s march had a lot of celebrities and wealthy women, but feminism is a working class movement. Women were always a huge, integral part of political movements, even when only the men were acknowledged, and as a result women’s issue and perspective gained representation directly and indirectly.
I think it’s time to take inspiration on women from other país of the world where feminism is thriving and concrete goals are being achieved, like abortion rights, new resources for women suffering violence, getting accurate statistics on femicide and more
@@ryeguy7941 I think the ones that cant are villainizing the ones that do. If a woman dares to speak out about the problems man face (sometimes because of feminism) she is hated by them .
The problems with modern feminism are multifold, for a few examples: 1 Asia Argento who accused Harvey Weinstein turned out to be a predator hetself for sleeping with a 17 year old boy allegedly 2 Allysa Milano and the "believe all women" crew didnt stand by their slogan when Joe Biden was accused of assault himself 3 Amber Heard and her lies were uncovered in the courtroom and ahe rughtfully lost the case. 4 All of the Sophia Amorosos and other girl bosses turned out to be just as toxic as men in the workplace. Firings, no maternity leave, bullying, etc. Meaning that gender was not the reason for workplace toxicity. There are many more examples of the double standards and lies that make up modern feminism. Thats why there is so much pushback.
There's feminism that elevates women, but there's a new strain of anti-male misandry that's basing itself on debasing men on all fronts without discretion that's creating an alternative toxic Matriarchy that has a role to combat toxic masculinity, but lacks discipline or a constructive endgame
The women that claim to be equality rights fighting feminists are contradicting themselves by saying they fight for the rights for women to be equal to men and yet they continue to blame the so called "male dominated society" for suppressing and oppressing the rights of women. Accuses the male dominated society of the continuous sex crimes against women while they generalize all men by stating that all men are capable of sexually violating women putting both good men and the scumbags in the same category to make a baseless argument. Then on top of all that, they have the nerve to say that women are victims of the pay wage gap saying that in the United States of America, women are paid less than what men make. And yet in the United States, there are women who have succeeded themselves in male dominated, high executive positions. Feminist women think that men indulge in women being in the "second in line" positions. Meaning that to them men want women to follow what the man says and does. Now you know that's an utter bullshit analogy. They think we men just want women to be housewives, subordinates, and submissive that we men don't want to fancy in seeing women make as much or more money than men. That's absolutely false. The only type of men that don't want women to work and be a wage earner like the man are men that dedicate themselves in feeding their misogynist ego that "the man's home is his castle". These feminist women in my opinion live in ancient times because they think in the 21st Century, we men have the 1950s/1960s mentality of keeping women below us men. Many of us men aren't perfect human beings, but we don't seek to control women in any way. Now if women want to crusade such misogynist behavior from men, they should target the men that see women as less than human beings and believe women are inferior to men. I don't think women are inferior human beings because I feel like it's not my courtesy call to assume such misogynist ideologies about women. And second, if women were to make more money than me, I wouldn't give a shit. Hell, it'd benefit me greatly if women made more money than I do. Why should I stop and prevent women from making that bread?
@Chris Jones uh, sure. That's as based as a basehead. Mothers aren't going to kill sons, daughters aren't going to kill fathers, sisters aren't going to kill brothers, etc, etc. So in the end, it's not worth taking seriously.
I haven't watch the video yet, but based on the title I have some things to say: THERE IS NOT ONE FEMINISM, THERE ARE A LOT OF FEMINISMS. Also feminism isn't US centric or Hollywood centric or white middle-classed centric, you need a more global pov. Finally, feminism isn't always marketable or aesthetic, it's not always in the media or in films or on social media. It's everywhere, don't reduce feminism to only some of its components.
This video was crearly made by an American perspective and is actually what is wrong with feminism: it's whitennes. The future is for everyone, not just females. Right all wrongs not just telling people women have it worst to shut down men's issues to the back of the queue
This is a very interesting topic that needs much more open convo here in the west. I think a great numberr of people here have alot of misconceptions about alternative systems but glad to find more and more people here realizing that.
Because capitalism systems rely on submission of entire classes, including women. Make them work hard and pay less possible. Most of the "women's work" are not even paid or recognized. Of course, the patriarchal religions play a big role here sustaining this system.
Toxic masculinity is nothing more then misandry, a hate of men if they call you misogyny you should call them back misandry, hater and use their own style of argument back at them
I think one thing that's overlooked is that American 3rd-wave feminism is being treated as a zero-sum game between men vs. women. Back in the early 20th century, the push was to give women equal rights to men (e.g. voting), which resonated with a lot of people. However, today if you bring up certain issues that men face (e.g. loneliness and suicide), many feminists would either dismiss the statistics or even be "happy" that men are finally suffering like they are. This doesn't exactly ingratiate men to become allies, and people get sick of hearing about what has essentially become an "oppression olympics". It's for this reason that recent polls have shown that younger men don't consider themselves "feminists" at a rate even higher than older men (even though you would assume it SHOULD be the opposite).
I think this video doesn't quite capture that a lot of these discussions and organized actions have been happening in actual political feminist spaces all along. Intersectionality was first coined in 1989, for example. It's just the pop culture idea of feminism that changes so rapidly like this, but political action has always been happening, and it's always been pretty ugly and brutal. That's just what it's like fighting against deeply entrenched cultural norms like patriarchy. It's never going to be cute or marketable, and that isn't the point.
Equality will exist only when Women will be forced to military service register too. Like men are forced to do if they want rights to vote. Viceversa equality does not exist.
I was listening till you showed a clip of Amber Heard. She is the reason why I started being Anti-Feminist after being a proud feminist all my life. If Feminism starts to mean that we will support women without any question, I don't want to be an ally. Feminism means equality. We should act as equals, not superior.
where is equality for the unborn human daughters? can one just slaughter them to get rid of those new daughters if the mom doesn't want to be a mom and wants her daughter dead?
@@NellyNutmeg the support of only one person is not what turns me off. It's the support of many women without question only because they are women. Which is what is happening. Nothing makes me cringe more than someone saying they’re a “humanist” instead of a feminist. Humanist is already a word. It means something totally different. You can be a secular humanist and be a huge misogynist, or be a staunch feminist who believes in the divine right of kings. It’s cringey because it reeks of insecurity and desperation to be liked, but also it jus remand they never even once thought to look up the word they’re using.
Nope! Some women just see the people who label themselves as feminists, and don't want to identify at all with them or with that label, even though they are all for equality. They just don't want to belong to the same club as certain out-of-touch extremists, as they do their grassroots practical work for equality.
@@lilij1915 that’s definitely a better term to use in this regard than feminism, but it still doesn’t address whether or not you recognize the disadvantages of being a woman in a patriarchy. This was a very lazy research on the part of The Take. It's rehashed narratives, objections and movie clips from videos they have already done. The only conclusion they end up stating is the feminist movement needs more intersecionality. However, The Take doesn't see the irony of their lack own of diversity in the cinema or news they use. They don't even show any representation of feminist characters that are not white, middle class American. I believe when these people say things like "feminism has done more harm than good" or "feminism is dead" that they are referring to the more toxic modern version of feminism. I'm a guy so I'm not sure I'm in the right place to say this but back in the day feminism was about gender equality. Nowadays it's about gender supiority how many feminist movies and TV shows especially superhero shows. Depict men as either being weak and pathetic and incompatent or just evil and women as being pure and perfect
Feminism is basically getting more privileges and easy life for women. It was never about gender equality. And it is not a static movement. Like every religious movements which are based on fallacies and bad reasoning skills, Feminism also will find more and more ways to be radical. It is like a drug. Feminist of another generation loses high in the previous version of Feminism, then they get more radical and become crazier. Feminism tries to make women men. Women realized that they cant handle being men. So they are getting rid of this toxic ideology.
Yeah activists in general can't create anything, they latch on to stuff made by men for men and slowly but always surely ruin it, it's why stuff like manga is very popular these days, lots of creative freedom and no preachy type writing
I think people are just too obsessed with the term itself. Who cares if you call it feminism or call yourself a feminist. Just as the video says, terms and slogans go in and out of fashion; it's the actions that matter. Call yourself whatever you want, but do your research, and show up to the damn ballot box and demand the changes we're all shouting for.
Show up to the damn ballot box? Lol and when has that done anything to help? Did going to the ballot box help Roe vs Wade in the US? Your perspective is extremely westernized, liberal and american. Feminism is direct and active in south Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East, and women here aren't afraid to call ourselves feminists or call our movement feminism, in any of its branches (radical feminism, Marxist feminism, liberal feminism, indigenous/decolonial feminism, afrofeminism). It's not a monopoly of ideology, it has variety. Latin American feminism lost its faith in electoral system a long time ago. We don't wait patiently until we can vote so we can have change. We protest, we do direct action, we go up to our government offices directly and demand it. Legal ab0rtion, for example, only existed in Mexico City 10 years ago--- in the last 4-5 years, 10 more states have legalized it. No voting. Only taking to the streets.
@@sayenka6093 And yet, ultimately whether or not you call yourself a feminist means nothing in comparison to what actions you take to bring about the social and economical equality of all sexes and genders. If you call yourself a feminist and do nothing else, you're not more of a feminist than someone who doesn't use the term but actually engages in activist activities to progress the overall effort. Thank you for reiterating exactly the point I'm making.

Men are more innately inclined towards physical aggression. However, women are innately inclined towards passive aggression, such as destroying a person’s life socially through lies and countless other ways. Both of these forms of aggression are equally destructive, but women don’t see this. In fact, I personally think passive aggression is way more harmful than active aggression. I boxed throughout my life, and I would much rather walk around with a black eye for a month a thousand times more than have a woman cause me psychological pain that lasts for years, and social/economic struggles from the lies she spread. The passive aggression of women can mess with your head for years. Women need to wake up and realize that they are clearly as capable of evil as men are, without a doubt. These modern day feminists aren’t creating equality; they are doing the opposite. They are making the problem worse.
Life is a hell of a teacher. Those who eschew the fight for equal rights will have a bitter lesson to learn, as their mothers and grandmothers may attest. And yes, feminism is the notion women and men are equal. Anything different than that, ain’t feminism…
If you want to know why feminism regularly crumbles and re-brands, it is that its primary focus (even in this video) is on the injustices women face, while often assuming men therefore do not have injustices worth addressing as well. Feminism implies equality for both sexes but assumes that if there is inequality in one, it must take from the other - when often times its capitalism itself, and not a particular gender, that is perpetuating that lack. The rich thrive as girlbosses pit us against each other when we could work together towards actual feminism instead of one that is quickly co-opted. Show compassion if you want compassion - even a cup of compassion given a good mans way will get you a bucket from them if that's what you need.
So do you think that Black Lives Matter (who believes in equality between blacks and whites) should address white people problems instead of just black issues? Do you think as a white man that you are equally treated to women and black people? Are you possibly that blind?
We kept telling the kids we were educating less and less that they have all the answers because we're too ashamed to admit we don't. And we wonder why the toddlers made us crayon soup.
For real though. Blindly supporting women just because they’re women makes Feminism look like a joke. It should be a case by case analysis. Women can still be awful people.
I think a big part of the problem was the explosion of anger. The anger that was felt during the initiation of Me Too was almost like a bomb going off. Much like the BLM Movement or the Stonewall Riots, when people who have been abused, supressed, harassed, marginalized and in some cases even killed for being merely how they were born, the obvious reaction is to be angry, livid, confrontational, and to want a fight. Especially if you were taught to, '.... just take it'. But of course, people who oppose these movements and these demographic's civil rights will often bring that up: that we are angry, and therefore shouldnt be listened to, as anger is CLEARLY a sign of hormonal, emotional, or educational/class/socio-economic imbalance and deficiency. And when we are angry, its very easy to see 'buy this tshirt with this slogan!' as support, instead of seeing that the same company probably makes tshirts for the opposing side. There is no easy answer for societal change. Systems that have been in place for years, decades, centuries, etc. are ALWAYS difficult to shift, and wont properly be shifted in a matter of a few short years. But I think something to consider is that its not a matter of protesting more and louder, its a matter of protesting more surgically and smarter, much like Kansas did. Try not to lose faith, people 💖🌈
The anger is too much for most people ,the amount of women I have heard calling themselves feminist and then hating on men is insane ,another issue is that feminist of today are trying to empower women by bringing down men and this is done a lot through movies ,media ,social media and politics , word like mensplaining ,menspreading didn’t help at all ,or countless of women that called themselves feminist, attacking men ,false accuse of r*pe or even cancel culture itself .Also believe all women didn’t help at all with the image of feminist, a lot of things went wrong that’s why I lot of people associate feminist with men’s haters .
No the main issues with movements such as feminism and BLM is that they have fundamentally flawed ideologies that are easily picked apart. For example feminism is just neo-communist principles where classism is exchanged for gender, it’s revised understanding of history and data is what leads to easily refuted claims they make about wage gape or inequality. Now it’s become even worse cause they are openly admitting that the goal is not equality but equity which always results in more authoritarian policies and systems. Feminism now, and at the beginning, has been about giving women more rights and freedoms, which sounds nice until you realize that it doesn’t care at all about actual equality
I really think feminism today is over the top, I can't cringe without hearing the word. When the spice girls did girl power it was fun and Innocent without dragging others down.
@@alim.9801 they did not belittle men. If you look at the girl power thing today f.e. in movies or tv shows, the "strong female characters " shine because the men around them are incompetent morons or, if they are competent they are villains. They also have all the characteristics we would normally have found in villains. But we are supposed to like them because they are women. Galadriel in Amazons Rings of power is the best example.
I do not know what shape the new feminism will take, but let us hope it is something that does not demonise men as the current version does? All men are not Donald Trump or Harvey Weinstein.

Feminism ate its own tail. Female empowerment came at the cost of men. Not toxic men, all men. To the point where currently growing pockets of men under 30 have a negative view towards women after years of depression and rejection. Which is a MAJOR problem for all women. Men always hold the leadership positions in any society. So the Age of Female Empowerment has created the current Age of the Handmaiden. Those men who have a negative view on women will enter power in 5-10 years which will only further reduce women back to 1970s levels
Feminism is about equal rights. The moment feminism became about how “women are better (in different aspects) than men”, that’s where it all went downhill.
I think much of the problem is trying to simplify everything. Quick caught phrase to gloss over important nuances that people can repeat to feel like they are doing something, without actually doing anything. Saying Amber Heard represents all abuse cases as opposed to her only representing her own. Issues affecting women are messy, complex with no one simple solution. Pretending there might be a quick, straight line to equality is setting people up for failure.
Here’s the problem: Feminists want all advantages without any disadvantages. Here is one example: a feminist and her date are walking. A crazy guy attacks her. What does she expect her date to do? If she expects him to defend her, would she agree on earning less than him for the same job? You can think of it as buying insurance.
Wha, what are you saying? Men should defend everyone, not just women! It's about physical strength. But women are just as strong, when it suites their interests.
So for the sake of equality, should I make you bleed every month? Should we operate on you to make you feel the pain of childbirth and for you to risk death (there are more women dying of childbirth than men dying in the military just so you know in the West right now). Should we drug you to make you feel what it's like to have menopause? Men taking the role of protector while women take the role of birth giver is not socially constructed, it's literal biology. Btw, women defend themselves much more from attacks than men ever do by swooping and saving the day. If you can't even acknowledge biology, you are not worth discussing with.
"Sexual harassment in the workplace." Give me a break. The meaning of "sexual harassment" has been expanded to the point that it's completely meaningless. All it means nowadays is that a man's race or hair color or skull shape makes you feel uncomfortable just by existing.
@@gm.8805 My research is incomplete since there is an almost endless supply of both facts and factors, so if you have material to contribute, I am available. The argument about say, intersectional or 4th wave feminism which claims," patriarchy hurts men too", is easily debunked since it seeks to blame men for their own travails and ignores that ubiquitous standard that patriarchy helps women more than it helps men. Every faschion of feminism is based on the premise of two falsehoods; that there is an oppressive patriarchy, and that gender equality is a valuable goal. Again, feel free to supply me with any and all of your fabulous insight.
I think a part of the problem is that the movement has had too many bad faith actors and virtually no women publicly calling them out. This movement can't survive women making false rape or abuse allegations; or when they said that they wanted to date more emotionally available men only to then ignore them or worse and continue dating the same abusive "bad boys" that they've been complaining about. I forget which actress filed the lawsuit years ago for literally $1 to make a point about the issue behind it rather than monetary compensation but now that's a thing of the past to the degree that now any woman can and probably would sue any man for any reason real or imagined and she will demand everything from him in court (his money, home, kids, car, possessions, etc.) and more often than not the court will give it to her no matter what the evidence says. It's shit like this that's killing the movement.
Yeah, I’ve been reading on incidences of where false accusations have occurred and the consequences can be devastating e.g. Emmet Till. And I 100000% agree that accusations should be taken seriously because to lie about it is particularly egregious and heinous and I can’t imagine anyone doing that but for the life of me I have not found someone with a good response to my worry and concern. It’s always ‘only 2% are false’, like…that’s still 2% many (granted I also question whether this is a question for feminism alone to address or we as society)
I was supportive of the movement for a long time, but stopped when the movement became unwilling to acknowledge men's issues. I was abused as a teen. As a consequence, having no one to go to, nowhere to shelter, I dropped out of school, and spent years struggling. By the time I got my life together, I was past 26. That may not seem important to most, but the moment that drove me, of all things ,to attempt suicide was learning I had passed the age I could register for selective service. Not only was I unable to go to college without paying for it in cash, at out of state rates, I was barred from government work, and threatened with a huge fine for failing to register. The first time I heard about it was applying for school. I am a survivor, and made it through alot. But I will not support a movement that boycott men's abuse centers, that's unwilling to acknowledge that women can perpetrate abuse. That gatekeeps help by telling us we should go through them before we get help. I am not a predator, yet all men are continually treated like we are. There no me too for us.
@@sorejack I'm sorry for what happened to you but regarding your last sentence, I'll reply "that bear is not dangerous. Yet all bears are treated like they are". If you don't understand the grotesque of this, there's no hope that men can ever understand women's POV. To the "not all men" song I always reply "obviously, but enough of you that it warrants being scared/wary/careful/cold/aggressive/etc". There's only one bullet in the chamber. Are you willing to take a chance?
"The Death of Feminism"! That title alone brings a smile to my face!😁(Third Wave) feminism should have died in the 90's and did subside somewhat in the latter half of the 90's and early 00's but came back with a vengeance circa 2010, and has become more toxic and pernicious ever since. It's a cult that destroys it's (mostly female) members, and many are realizing it too late. The first wave of feminism had legitimacy when it strove for equal rights for women such as voting, etc., but the second and third waves movements got increasingly toxic and misandrist along the way. And society has been divided between the two genders ever since.☹
Actually, first-wave feminism was toxic as well. Elizabeth Cady Stanton gave a speech in 1868 titled “The Destructive Male” in which she said, “The male element is a destructive force, stern, selfish, aggrandizing, loving war, violence, conquest, acquisition, breeding in the material and moral world alike discord, disorder, disease, and death.” Susan B. Anthony, who never married a man, once said during her older years in an interview in 1896, “I never felt I could give up my life of freedom to become a man’s housekeeper.”
Feminism can only exist if 1. Nothing is broken cause women don't have the skills in mass to maintain infrastructure...her come the men to save the day. 2. Men support the movement. The Taliban is giving u a first had look at what happens when men don't support womens interest. Their woman can no longer go to college, no other men are challenging it, and the women can't fight for their rights against men. So again...call the men to fix it, we win again
I live in East Europe and feminism is very much needed here, which is why I identify as a feminist. I've gone through sexual harassment at several corporate jobs, plus came across men who say things like "why do women need to work?". I find it naive to say it's ending-these women who talk against it are spoiled delusional women who often are paid for and protected by men. I would encourage them to try living in a part of the world or their own society on their own, without being attached to a guy, and see how easy it is. The true measure of respect women get in society is how men treat them when they are on their own, trying to make their way through life, not when they're known by their husbands, boyfriends or daddies. Truth is that a non-feminist world is non-sustainable. If women don't end the old ways, nature will.
i watched it and i think feminism will actually destroy itself. It will go more in the direction of intersectionalism and the resulting oppressions Olympics and Identity politics will be its death blow. At least as a movement a significant part of the population can relate to
Feminism has over reached to the point of calling for men to be killed. This over reached deserved back lash. I look forward to the day my nephews can live in a world that does disparage them or make them feel like an after thought. Thank God this era has been reached.
My grandma didn't learn how to drive until she was in her 50's. My mom taught her how. And my mom only learned how to drive because she learned in school. Now it is a rite of passage for everyone to get their drivers license in the US. Change comes slowly, and it is heartbreaking to think of all the people who do not live to see it come. But the world must always change one way or another, and if we are persistent, it will change for the better.
I think one aspect of the 2000s feminism is that, while you mentioned that people felt that the woman's rights have been achieved in the west, this was used as a marketing tactic to manufactured consent for the dehumanization and brutal massacres of the people of Afghanistan, feminism was co-opted to justify what became a brutal occupation with so many drone strikes.

ABSOLUTELY, feminism in Latin America is only getting bigger and stronger 💜💚
Yes!!! Thanks for saying this.
👏👏👏

It's getting more international too - I see a lot of solidarity online and IRL for the women of Iran protesting the compulsory hijab _and_ for the Muslimas in France fighting against the hijab ban.

What's your country?

Well said, thank you! 👏
Not sure I agree with that last part. Humans need to collaborate with eachother. Being self-sufficient isn't a bad idea, but it is further isolating.

How does that have anything to do with feminism? Did you report the abuse from your math teacher to your principal and/or your parents? It's their responsibility to protect you. fewer women being hired was NOT a result of the movement, it was the CHOSEN response by those clinging to power. we're never going to get anywhere if we blame those standing up to power for power's response that could/should easily be read as an admission of guilt. businesses CHOSE not to hire more women instead of making working places safe for everyone. businesses CHOSE to continue working with powerful perpetrators and blacklist those who came forward. businesses and politicians CHOOSE not to enact policies around healthcare, parental leave, time off, income inequality, etc. just like harassment, these are all more examples of those with power exerting that power over those of us with less power.
it's weird that we hold all feminism responsible for how it's been co-opted/coopted and the responses of those clinging to power.

"Well-behaved girls seldom make history." I forget who said that line, but I think it's relevant.
Yes. Very bad behaved girls like amber heard sure are making history.
Intersectional feminism is blah blah blah. White women, black women, Asian women are all women and feminist groups are always wanting women from many backgrounds to support them. I think all movements have the potential to fall into an overcorrection period and I think modern feminism is in that period of transition.
Good riddance, it's cancer anyway
Yep!
And to think some people prefer pick-up lines. Damn.
I think it’s time to take inspiration on women from other país of the world where feminism is thriving and concrete goals are being achieved, like abortion rights, new resources for women suffering violence, getting accurate statistics on femicide and more
omg that whole manspreading thing is really the epitome of the stupidity of the movement...

The feminism movement has ironically become largely sexist.

Ironically??? haha
There is nothing feminist or grand about falsely accusing your ex boyfriend or husband about abuse of any kind especially when you are the abuser.
AMEN! Supporting women like Amber Heard just gives Feminism a bad name.
“Falsely accusing”. No, he did all that. OJ Simpson 2.0
The drug addict? Bs
The problems with modern feminism are multifold, for a few examples:
1 Asia Argento who accused Harvey Weinstein turned out to be a predator hetself for sleeping with a 17 year old boy allegedly
2 Allysa Milano and the "believe all women" crew didnt stand by their slogan when Joe Biden was accused of assault himself
3 Amber Heard and her lies were uncovered in the courtroom and ahe rughtfully lost the case.
There’s always been a strand of feminism that was very anti-male and full of misandry. There’s a good reason many feminists are despised
This!
@Chris Jones the wtf is "Kill All Men"?
@Chris Jones uh, sure. That's as based as a basehead. Mothers aren't going to kill sons, daughters aren't going to kill fathers, sisters aren't going to kill brothers, etc, etc.

No is no
Yes is yes
......unless.....a feminist changes her mind in the future depending on her feelings
then, yes is no.

Feminism is like celebrating International Women's Day on International Men's Day, November 19th every year.
Men are capable of passive aggression too.
Show compassion if you want compassion - even a cup of compassion given a good mans way will get you a bucket from them if that's what you need.
feminism keep adressing men issues cause by patriarchy. they just reject the notion that men are a marginalized group
So do you think that Black Lives Matter (who believes in equality between blacks and whites) should address white people problems instead of just black issues? Do you think as a white man that you are equally treated to women and black people? Are you possibly that blind?

Discussing about Amber helps us to evolve feminism and mature more the fight.
When the world mocked her r*pe testimony to support her abuser using DARVO tactics, she seems very relevant.

To pretend to not be angry is probably the dumbest thing I have ever hard.

American feminism and white feminism?
Yeah, that's shallow..🙄
Also Amber Heard? Terrible example!

Again, feel free to supply me with any and all of your fabulous insight.

Feminism? When you can not even answer the question "what a woman is?" Is it a joke>?
I believe Taylor Swift did the $1 lawsuit you’ve referring to
@@BlairRyukyu was it? If so then I stand corrected and appreciate the reminder. It has been years so I forgot who did it.
Elizabeth Cady Stanton gave a speech in 1868 titled “The Destructive Male” in which she said, “The male element is a destructive force, stern, selfish, aggrandizing, loving war, violence, conquest, acquisition, breeding in the material and moral world alike discord, disorder, disease, and death.”
Susan B. Anthony, who never married a man, once said during her older years in an interview in 1896, “I never felt I could give up my life of freedom to become a man’s housekeeper.”
Modern feminism MUST be intersectional. It must include poor people, GNC people, bipoc, trans people.
Feminism can only exist if
I always find it funny when people start commenting before watching at least half of the video 😂

@@venustheplanet8208 Ha, yeah I know what you were getting at. I just couldn't help myself. Irony was right there.
i watched it and i think feminism will actually destroy itself. It will go more in the direction of intersectionalism and the resulting oppressions Olympics and Identity politics will be its death blow. At least as a movement a significant part of the population can relate to
I can't wait for The Take on Don't Worry Darling, a very representative movie on the future of Feminism
Women didn't drive because driving wasn't necessary and it is a chore xD they only drive now because they got to

Feminists should support things like a Universal Basic Income, and a Resource Based Economy.
