You are so right! I got them as a kid and set them aside pretty quickly. Very excited to start playing around with them more! Thanks for the recommendations!! :)
Thank you for the "New Angle" book reference. I'm a fan of Ryan Plunkett. Love it when a book is dedicated to a deep dive on a specific subject. Keep up the great work David!
This also reminded me of Asi Wind's XY deck which is a DIY stripper deck that places the relief in a different part of the deck. Free tutorial on his website. You will need the small, medium, large corner round that I mentioned earlier (branded Kadomaru Pro) which is a great tool for gaff card making. This deck has unique properties and therefore unique effects to go with it.
What i did with my stripper deck is I took out the center dot in the "flowers" on one side so you know which end is end......I also did the same on the card box....
Great video! I would like to add that the best stripper Decks imho are made by Card-shark (Phoenix decks). The difference to the original Bicycle decks (and many others) is that the back pattern on Phoenix cards has a tapered print that matches the cut angle. That makes the fact that the cards are cut just invisible.
Dear David, this is a great video, I wish you would have made it some years ago when I was starting with magic. I think I have to look at the new angle book. Thanks for sharing. Never heard of that book. Also the encyclopedia of card tricks is a nobrainer and should be in everybody’s collection. As we all know. The best material is hidden the books. Have a great day
Can confirm a new angle is a fantastic tool. Also always gotta recommend that if someone likes using stripper/sven decks they invest in a proper paper cutter. Can get one for the cost of a quality stripper deck and once you learn how to make a template to replicate cuts you can turn any deck into a stripper deck. Some awesome tutorials on youtube show this. If your goal is to fool someone that might be more magic savvy then using a more uncommon deck that's not known to be a stripper deck helps.
I ordered a few of the USPCC printed strip decks, but also 2 of the cheap Chinese knock offs. Going to use the cheap ones as trainers, so by the time I can handle them good enough the good decks are not wore down, and I can experiment freely with them without worry of damaging the good ones. The cheaper ones were 1/3 the price at 2 for 10, so no complaints.
Great review David I always wondered if there were different types of stripper decks the one I own I got from a magic shop couple of years ago in town and it just doesn't strip! It's hard enough just sliding out one card let alone all the blacks and the reds so it has been on my shelf collecting dust
Stripper decks were always a weird thing to ask for at Christmas time... Anyway, I often use a stripper deck to eliminate moves like the ascanio spread, which some find to be a very odd display
I got my stripper deck at high school christmas. One of my best gimmick. I love it. Most of my magic stuff which was present is not so good. This is an exception.
My comments with links keep getting deleted. So one more time without links... I taught a method on my channel to create a clean wedge stripper on any deck. Do a search, as my links don't seem to be posting. You may also use a 3mm corner round (smallest setting on the popular Kadomaru Pro rounder is 3mm) to clean the sharp edges after the bevel (not discussed in the video). These decks can be made DIY to factory level quality with the proper procedure and careful execution.
Hey David. Great video. I've recently taken my stripper deck out of storage and started messing around with it again. I have the Bicycle version. I had been doing some research and found out that there are "Belly Stripper" decks and I think Ellusionist put out a combo of traditional stripper/belly stripper. I've never used anything other than the tapered version. Do you have any experience with those types of stripper decks and which do you feel is the most practical?
Thanks for this video! I love the Stripper deck cause of the infinite possibilities it allows me to do! I did not realize the Encyclopedia of Card tricks covered this so I'm off to the book store! (or Brent Brauns Brick and mortar store. ) (or as some in my life have called it the Porn shop) (alas tis the lot I am meant to deal with)
Got the light blue one stripper deck also marked too Low quality these really are beginners in to magic it’s all about the learning in your path to really get better at close-up magic with cards Yeah totally…agree got a few Bicycle Red and blue very true on these stripper deck Bicycle a lot better 👌
Great advice as ever .I only started a few months ago so went straight for a rider back deck and because I'm a big fan of Copag 310s I got their version for my collection too .Your'e right .after mastering pulling out the 4 aces plus one selected card I haven't really touched either of them so will def be getting a book soon Cheers

I need to check that out
Yay, my favorite trick deck type. I've seen that book cover before (A New Angle) but didn't know what it was about. I think I'll have to get it now.
watch my review for it - link pinned to the top

awesome !!!
I needed this video thanks so much!!!!
You are so welcome!
David could you please let me know if you can use the Bicycle Stripper Deck you have in this video to do the Faro Shuffle as well?
of course - ANY stripper deck can be handled like any normal deck - you just have to be mindful of your orientation
@@magicorthodoxy Thank you David for replying to my question.

I did a review for it - pinned to the top

Yea .... "Mom, I want a new stripper for Christmas."
everyone loves a good stripper on christmas 😆
Wow... I remember that 100 dollar deck. Had one when I was 10-11 or so. QUESTION: Are the Bicycle strippers marked, too, or just stripped?
marked blue stripper www.penguinmagic.com/p/11029
Have you done a review on ellusionists magic stream?
Nope. Never joined
@@magicorthodoxy dang. Was hoping to see a guide on what to watch there. Joined yesterday. They have a deal. So I snatched it up.
you should do a review !!!
I love this video. Big Blind Media has a stripper deck and a video download for around $15. It comes with a Bicycle deck of cards.
oh nice

Maybe a combo is better. Lot of variation on it. Like your video by the way
thanks
Would be awesome if theory 11 made this deck
a Bicycle one? or their own design
@@magicorthodoxy their own design
Nothing too out of the ordinary design like a stripped monarch deck would be great
I was told that Modern Rogue would make one of their decks into stripper deck if you asked them.
