You are so right! I got them as a kid and set them aside pretty quickly. Very excited to start playing around with them more! Thanks for the recommendations!! :)

This also reminded me of Asi Wind's XY deck which is a DIY stripper deck that places the relief in a different part of the deck. Free tutorial on his website. You will need the small, medium, large corner round that I mentioned earlier (branded Kadomaru Pro) which is a great tool for gaff card making. This deck has unique properties and therefore unique effects to go with it.

I ordered a few of the USPCC printed strip decks, but also 2 of the cheap Chinese knock offs. Going to use the cheap ones as trainers, so by the time I can handle them good enough the good decks are not wore down, and I can experiment freely with them without worry of damaging the good ones. The cheaper ones were 1/3 the price at 2 for 10, so no complaints.

Great video! I would like to add that the best stripper Decks imho are made by Card-shark (Phoenix decks). The difference to the original Bicycle decks (and many others) is that the back pattern on Phoenix cards has a tapered print that matches the cut angle. That makes the fact that the cards are cut just invisible.

Dear David, this is a great video, I wish you would have made it some years ago when I was starting with magic. I think I have to look at the new angle book. Thanks for sharing. Never heard of that book. Also the encyclopedia of card tricks is a nobrainer and should be in everybody’s collection. As we all know. The best material is hidden the books. Have a great day

Can confirm a new angle is a fantastic tool. Also always gotta recommend that if someone likes using stripper/sven decks they invest in a proper paper cutter. Can get one for the cost of a quality stripper deck and once you learn how to make a template to replicate cuts you can turn any deck into a stripper deck. Some awesome tutorials on youtube show this. If your goal is to fool someone that might be more magic savvy then using a more uncommon deck that's not known to be a stripper deck helps.

My comments with links keep getting deleted. So one more time without links...
I taught a method on my channel to create a clean wedge stripper on any deck. Do a search, as my links don't seem to be posting. You may also use a 3mm corner round (smallest setting on the popular Kadomaru Pro rounder is 3mm) to clean the sharp edges after the bevel (not discussed in the video). These decks can be made DIY to factory level quality with the proper procedure and careful execution.

Stripper decks were always a weird thing to ask for at Christmas time...
Anyway, I often use a stripper deck to eliminate moves like the ascanio spread, which some find to be a very odd display

Great review David I always wondered if there were different types of stripper decks the one I own I got from a magic shop couple of years ago in town and it just doesn't strip! It's hard enough just sliding out one card let alone all the blacks and the reds so it has been on my shelf collecting dust

Hey David. Great video. I've recently taken my stripper deck out of storage and started messing around with it again. I have the Bicycle version. I had been doing some research and found out that there are "Belly Stripper" decks and I think Ellusionist put out a combo of traditional stripper/belly stripper. I've never used anything other than the tapered version. Do you have any experience with those types of stripper decks and which do you feel is the most practical?
