Interesting...never knew you could run ES programmer through a live USB, though it ain't fairly practical 😅

I’ve programmed a 4007ES hobby system which can be found on my channel (note: the most recent vid on the system is outdated). I did the programming from scratch and even used some custom control SMPL lines to add an A/V bypass. The system runs on Rev 6.01.03, and I downloaded the job file using an Ethernet cable. I have the same touchscreen annunciator on it as well. Did you know you can remotely access internal panel functions from the touchscreen annunciator? It’s the only one of its kind that can do that.

I did NOT know that. How do you like v6.02 ?

@@firealarmapprentice4517 never tried it. Didn’t wanna risk bricking my panel trying to upgrade it. Apparently, 4007s are easy to brick according to some of my friends who work in the field. I don’t work in the field yet, but know plenty who do and they told me I was better off not trying to firmware upgrade to the most recent Rev. At least it’s not the same story for other simplex products. It’s just the 4007s that “drop like flies during firmware upgrades” according to my contacts.

My son and I "bricked" the one in the video, but I "unbricked" it when I went back to 5.

I have a 4007 with that announcer it has had a problem with going missing failed. Simplex has no fix for it and has been trying things to fix for over year now. Do you ever hear of this problem?

    • @firealarmapprentice4517

We had one. I put on a ferrite bead and that seems to fix it. They are just rs485 so check the conductors and make sure it has the terminating resistor ?

@@firealarmapprentice4517 yes there is a bead on it but I’m not sure about the resistor. Simplex has put in two annunciators and replaced power supply bouts that feed the annunciator. Where does the resistor go and what is value?

resistor for rs485 is generally 120ohm and at the farthest point. Let me check the cut sheet before I say too much. what is the Rev ?
